I think I agree with all of this. Although, I'm not sure Nash in the ring is a good idea, unless it's just Punk beating the hell out of him.
If its one match and Punk wins, then I'm ok with it. Then send Nash to the announcer's table on SD replacing Booger T.

HA! A friends and I have the same type of bet (I think our over/under was 2 weeks though...which means I only have until the 29th).

Who exactly would you have gotten that is bigger? HBK isn't coming back, Jericho seems lined up for further down the line, they won't waste an Austin comeback on anything but Wrestlemania, Rock is tied up with Cena. Nash is a pretty big deal and there weren't but a handful of guys bigger than him in the late 90's.

True. But I agree w/ the article. Cena is THE guy, Punk seems as over as he's gonna get. Not a bad thing, b/c he's pretty damn over. I like Nash being there for what it adds to a storyline, but to get Punk over? I don't think he needed it.

Honestly, I think Punk vs Nash could do wonders for Punk getting over with the non IWC.

Think about it, who would Punk benefit from beating more: Chris Jericho, a guy who the fans are accustomed to and is kinda seen as another guy who is smallish. Nash is like a better version of Khali, but the better doesn't refer to in the ring.

Plus, I'm sure Punk could get a decent match out of Nash, if it isn't made into a 50 minute classic. Plus, Nash is one of the best on the mic in the business, despite what happened on Monday night. Nash can make Punk a real superstar, a merch seller.

All that being said, I hope this leads to Stone Cold vs Punk. has nothing to do with Nash or the Clique messages being sent out, but damn it, I want Stone Cold vs Punk.

Punk was over after MITB - hell, Punk was over after his original shoot promo. WWE really runs the risk of overplaying their hand here. I don't think the audience gives two craps about Nash TBH.

Who could they bring back? Foley's a guy who in my mind would fit better if you want to go the route of using a legend to get Punk over. He's been active in the WWE more recently than Nash, so you wouldn't have to work as hard to remind the average fan who he was. Foley at his peak was a bigger star than Nash, and is of course miles better on the mic than Nash. I don't think I've ever heard Nash described as great on the mic, and I don't remember him being all that great on the mic either.

I tried searching for great Diesel promos and this is all I could find.

Ultimately I think the only match people want to see now is Punk-HHH. Unless they're saving that for WM, I don't see why they are throwing this Nash thing in right now.

And I don't think calling anyone 'a better version of Khali' is much of a compliment TBH.

Punk still needs to get over. You do realize, aside from the actual MITB in his hometown, until Monday, Punk had still been getting booed quite a bit. If they want to cement him as a top face, he needs to feud with a big time heel. ADR isn't that. The Miz isn't really that. Nash is a legend, and a legend is perfect. The problem with Mick Foley, is that feuding with Mick is going to get Punk, at best, half boos. They want him to be a star. That's why they had to end the Cena feud now, and not revisit it at all for a bit. Feuding with Nash will be the first step to Punk eventually facing a full blown heel Triple H. I could see Punk facing Waltman at some point, as well. There's a long term plan. Nash is not there to get Punk over, imo. Nash is there to help him get to Triple H down the road. In the process, Triple H will get over as an evil boss, and Punk will get over as the "do whatever I" want face. Mick Foley could not achieve that - fans like him too much.

I still don't think bringing Nash in really does that. I think they should have just cut to the chase and either had HHH screw Punk over or have the same scenario, but with HHH attacking Punk instead of Nash.

To me bringing in someone like Nash who like I said isn't that over with most of the crowd, you risk losing the heat attached to Punk. I still don't think Nash is that guy, since most of the audience still doesn't really identify with him, and any possible match they have, regardless of how good Punk is, is likely gonna stink since Nash is a fossil right now.

I don't agree with that at all. Nash at his peak was one of the top 5 most recognizable and most over guys in the industry. I'd make the argument that at their peaks Foley and Nash were in the same league but Foley wasn't way higher than Nash.

Check out some of his NWO and Wolfpac promos, they were pretty damn entertaining.

Why would you want to rush HHH v Punk. If you have the chance to go a corporation type storyline where HHH is clearly the bad guy and gets more and more evil as time goes on. He throws all his different cronies at Punk, Nash, Waltman whoever else they get. Punk goes through all the odds and finally after months after getting screwed over he finally gets HHH at Wrestlemania.

THAT is how you build up a match with some real pay off. If it was Punk vs HHH right away, how do you keep that going? And what do you do after its over?

Be patient, let this thing develop. All the best stories take a long time.

Punk was getting the biggest pops he's gotten during this angle outside of Chicago. He's not losing any heat.

And Nash didn't get a great reaction Monday. But he got a huge reaction at the Rumble, remember?

I think it's funny that people always say wwe should plan out storylines more and not rush them, but when they do that, they should just get it over with.

For storyline purposes, I love it. Outside of that, I don't think Punk needed

Because all CM Punk merch didn't sell out just before MITB? Because his new shirt isn't the #1 seller now?

With people like you and me? Sure.

We aren't the real merch movers. Kids. Think about it all: Toys, arm bands, hats, shirts, shoes....

Grown up fans? Shirts and some still collect toys.

Bret Hart is guest GM on SD. Christian is getting a title shot in a cage match on the live SD.
Christian vs. Bryan was said to be fantastic.
Sin Cara and Heath Slater entirely messed up their match. They re-did the finish directly after. Then later they re-did the whole thing and apparently did it pretty well this time.
I believe Henry vs. Sheamus is the main event.

Looks like the original Sin Cara is back. I've been saying this dude has been a flop since he showed up. I can't wrap my head around all the support this man gets.
