God no. The IC title is finally become an upper midcard title again that seemingly means something. Either of those guys getting a shot would hurt that. And even going over, unless it was a squash, would make Cody look weak. It'd probably be a good match, but it'd be terrible feud. You build guys up with feuds, not by having them do kewl movez. Those two guys have the combined personality of a potato.

Yeah...Sin Cara isn't over and neither is Gabriel. Putting them in an IC feud wouldn't help them either and would likely devalue the title again as well. Finally the title is getting some 'prestige' again and people want to devalue it again. Titles don't put people over. IC title didn't put Barrett over when everyone thought it would, didn't put Zeke over when everyone thought it would.

The character has to do something on their own, be gaining momentum, then win the title for it to be substantive. Otherwise you're just booking Swagger reigns over and over.

That and people always complain about feuds not being based on anything, but now you have a feud that actually seems to have been bubbling for awhile now - Booker feeling disrespected by Cody - and people are crapping on that too.

Neither of which is that over with the crowd. They would be using Cody for a rub, which isn't something he is ready to give.

Booker T is over with the crowd, an will be for years. Having Cody work him adds to Cody without taking anything away from Booker.

What, exactly, is the harm in Orton fighting for the IC title and Cody going over him? That would give Cody a giant rub...

Or, you know, any unused upper carder. I would love to see the IC title given some upper card love.

The Rock and Triple H were great. But there is no face at that level for him to face. Maybe Daniel Bryan, but he's got MITB. And maybe Morrison, who may be on his way out. But that's it. Sin Cara and Gabriel are not near that level.

Yeah but you're forgetting that that feud was as much about The Nation vs DX as it was about the IC title, if not more. Also, funny you bring up The Rock, since the first time he won the IC title (as Rocky Maivia), his run failed miserably because he wasn't over with the crowd and wasn't established yet as a character. Which goes to my point - titles shouldn't be used to put people over. Moreso for Gabriel than Sin Cara, since Gabriel has zero connection with the crowd right now.

Now if you'd said Bryan, maybe I'd be more in line since he's already been a US Champ and needs to be built back up before WM. And he actually has somewhat of a character as the underdog "common man", which he and Cody feuded over earlier this year.

My point is Cody has had no meaningful fueds while IC champ and thus no one else is also being elevated. Even if the best they can come up with is -you have the title I want it- they haven't even managed that. I don't think Booker is going to help things.

Read a spoiler that Punk is set to have the belt for a Dec. 26th RAW in Chicago. The PPV is Dec. 18 in Baltimore...and the RAW on the 19th is in Philly. Hmm.. May have to go to that Philly RAW and see Punk as champ.
