Anyone think that HHH will just lay down tomorrow to let Flair win?

I hope so, but i'd rather a hard fought victory with Flair winning via the crotch chop.

Because you know, he's the DIRTIEST PLAYAH IN THE GAME!

Not a chance. I was at the Bi-lo Center in Greenville, SC in May of 2003 for Monday Night Raw when Stone Cold told HHH he had to defend his title against a former World Champion. When he picked Flair, his buddy, his mentor, he thought Flair would lie down for him. Not a chance. That match blew the lid off that area that night. If Flair had won the title that night, right smack dab in the middle of the old 4 Horsemen stomping ground, that place would have kept rocking into the wee hours of the morning.

This match (which I am so honored to see it live) is on the 1st Ric Flair DVD set the WWE put out. After Raw went off the air, everyone, including Vince, Step and Shane O Mac came down to the ring to to honor The Man. It is a night in which I will never forget.

The only bad thing about tomorrow night is I won't be able to watch Raw but the DVRs will be recording it. All of my wife's family are coming over to watch the stupid clemson vs aburn bowl game. All of them are clemson fans, except for me, I bleed Garnet and Black. Sucks to have the only big screen, hdtv in the family sometimes.

I think so...i've been watching the Raw DVD set and saw when Sgt. Slaughter made HBK defend the European Championship against HHH (During DX times). They made it look like they were angry, mad, and it was gonna break up DX. In the end it was kinda similar to the Finger Poke Of Doom where HBK made a simple hit look like it killed him, and HHH got the pin for the title.

Funny how no one rips them for that yet Nash and Hogan got vilified.

BTW that match between Flair and HHH at RAW in '03 was one of the best matches of this decade IMO.

HBK/HHH was only for the Euro title, I think that's one reason it wasn't that big of a deal.

Not only that, but Nash beat Goldberg the night before and everyone was expceting some type of follow up on that. We never got it.

Yeah, two totally different situations. One KILLED business, the other was just a little, non consiquential angle.

I had forgotten about it being the night after Nash beat Goldberg. Wasn't that the end of the undefeated streak? I had pretty much stopped watching WCW at that point.

Sorry for taking this even more off topic from Flair, but this seems to be the most I've seen HBK mentioned in a thread without Kowboy showing up to say how Michaels is responsible for cancer or whatever new reason he has to hate him.

LOL, it's my thread, so it's cool. It happens here a lot since there isn't that much activity so if a thread veers off into something else, I don't see it as a problem. The more conversation, the better.

Yeah, that was the day after the end of the streak. Nash won after Hall used the cattle prod on Goldberg and while Nash took the win, he didn't seem all that happy with getting the cheap win. That's what made Goldberg not getting his revenge even more stupid.

WWE would rake in the dough bigtime if Flair headlined one last WrestleMania as The Champ but it will never happen. Just like they screwed up the WCW/ECW invasion. That was a cash cow ready to be milked if only WWE had done things the right way.

Yes, I would. And you're wrong. Ric Flair is not a cash cow, he hasn't been since '88 aside from when he came back in '98. What the Invasion has to do with this, I have no idea.

I love when people think that what they like is what everyone else wants to see.

While "cash cow" may be the wrong term I do think Flair could be a pretty big money maker as champ headlining Wrestlemania. Isn't it being held in Miami? I ask because Flair has ALWAYS sold well in the south and let's face it there's a sizable contingent that wants to see Flair go out with some dignity. Sure it might hurt a little bit in the pocketbook in the short term but in terms of leaving a legacy and creating a "magic moment" then this is the best way to do it.

It's similar to what WCW did in '93 when Flair faced Vader for the championship. The storyline was that if Flair lost he'd retire for good. It was one of the best hyped matches of that year in WCW and IIRC it actually sold pretty well too.

Flair on top at WrestleMania will not be a "big money maker". The only place he'd still be somewhat a top draw is the Carolinas. There's a whole new generation of fans that have no idea about what he did 25 years ago. They have a new group of stars to look up to, and Ric Flair ain't one of them. Those are the fans that drive PPV numbers, not former fans who are out of touch with today's product.

I'm sorry, I love Flair and was almost in tears reading the great write up on him in The Observer this week. Hell, I started this thread! But if you think Flair on top at WrestleMania is a good move or that WWE should flush millions of dollars away by giving a small group of "fans" a moment, I don't know what to say other than "get a grip on reality".

He doesn't even have to headline Mania bro, even if his match is the 3rd main event on the card.........I would still be happy with that.
