Re: HDNet makes ROH an Offer
Anybody know when the debut show will be shown?
The first two tapings are in the ECW Arena on the 28th of February and the 1st of March, so one can only assume it will be shortly after that?Owner, Spear Interactive

Re: HDNet makes ROH an Offer
ROH needs to change some things if they want to stay on TV. Internet Mark wrestling doesn't work on TV, and you can only do so many spots before fans stop tuning in...
That said, all the luck to them. More wrestling on TV in general is always a good thing in my eyes, I just hope they know that they aren't selling DVD's to 18-24 year old internet wrestling marks when they put on a weekly wrestling show.Comment

From pwinsiders.com
- Ring of Honor is said to be interested in recently released WWE star Val Venis once he is ready to return from injury.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: HDNet makes ROH an Offer
UGH!!!! So it begins. I hope this doesn't turn into another TNN/ECW deal.
PWInsider.com is reporting that when Ring of Honor begins broadcasting on HDNet, it will replace current announcer Lenny Leonard with ACC Basketball announcer Mike Hogewood. Hogewood does not have any professional wrestling announcing experience, however, he has called NASCAR and Monstrer Truck events in the past. Not that this means he will therefore be a great wrestling announcer, but rather it does show that he has experience in different forms of announcing which could make his transition into pro wrestling a bit easier. Reports are also indicating that this was a decision made by HDNet, as ROH did not want to get rid of Leonard, so it is possible that Leonard will remain with the company in some other form, possibly doing voice work on company DVDs.Highheat's O's Franchise

Re: HDNet makes ROH an Offer
To be honest, I really didn't like Lenny Leonard anyways. He's made me hate the word "smartly."
That being said, it is very worrysome that HDNet is already changing stuff. But really, ROH has been on a downslide for a couple years now. Maybe some changes will help. Then again, dumping Gabe didn't do the trick. I dunno, I think Manhattan Mayhem II was the last time I really was into ROH's product. They've had a few great shows since then, but it hasn't been the same.Last edited by TimmeH; 02-16-2009, 02:21 AM.Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II

As for Lenny, Cary Silken knew what he was getting into when he took Cuban's HD cameras.xbl gamertag: jiggidyjames72Comment

Re: HDNet makes ROH an Offer
Hmm. I'm not a huge fan of Mike, but I seriously doubt it's a 'sky is falling' type deal.
From what I've read, HDNet is 100% behind the ROH product and loved what they saw at the live event in Florida a couple weeks ago.
I'm also looking forward to hearing what unsigned bands produce in terms of theme music for the wrestlers.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: HDNet makes ROH an Offer
I'm hearing really bad things about Hogewood in the booth.
Anyway, show debuts this Saturday @ 8. I think there's something like two replays during the week.
I'm not watching, because I'll be at the 7th Anniversary Show. I also have an extra balconey ticket (I screwed up ordering, I hate the balconey) after my broke friend cancelled. If you want it, PM me.xbl gamertag: jiggidyjames72Comment

Re: HDNet makes ROH an Offer
Mike Hogewood has been a local announcer here in NC for a long time before he went national. I can't believe I'm gonna have to listen to him commentate on pro wrestling now. Ugh. I really don't like Hogewood. I always think of the commercial where he shrieks "Caaaarolina KEA!!"Favorite Sports Teams
