    Re: Ring of Honor

No more PPVs after this next one.

Think I should wish Cary the best of luck in his future endeavors this Saturday?

EDIT: I thought I had a scoop here. Confirmed by King Dave in his daily update.

One Year Anniversary Show. That was the one that got me hooked,I saw some of the earlier stuff and was like, this isn't much better than TNA (they were good then) and they were in like high school gyms so it could be tough to watch. Also any of the 3 with the Joe/Punk matches.

Here are a few of many favorites, from earliest to latest so you can choose which era you want to focus on:

                2004
Midnight Expression Reunion (my favorite Samoa Joe / Bryan Danielson match)
Manhattan Mayhem (awesome all around card)

                2005
Final Battle 2005 (Low Ki / Kenta and Danielson / Marufuji are epic)

                2006
4th Anniversary through Better Than Our Best (probably the best series of shows - 6 total - in company history. Supercard of Honor may be the best of the 6, with the historic Dragon Gate 6 man and a stellar Dragon / Strong)
                Final Battle 2006

                2007
                Supercard of Honor II
                Respect is Earned (PPV Debut)
Driven (even better PPV with Dragon / KENTA as a sick extra)
                Manhattan Mayhem II
Glory By Honor VI (Misawa in the US)
Final Battle 2007 (seeing the trend?)

                2008
                Dragon Gate Challenge II
                Supercard of Honor III
A New Level (ROH, meet the Hammerstein Ballroom)
Death Before Dishonor VI (unreal 4 way, and I loved Marufuji / Go)
Glory By Honor VII (ROH World, Tag, NWA, GHC Jr, and FIP titles all on the line ... Dragon / Nakajima is awesome)

Still catching up on the back half of '08, and I haven't watched an '09 event yet. So anything from GBH VII to present I can't comment on, yet.

                  Re: Ring of Honor

Wrestling never offends me. Oh wow, Edge called Vickie a pig! Allison Danger rape angle, oh no! How dare Orton say Eddy's in hell!I never cared. It's wrestling, it's lowest common denomonator entertainement. But tonight, I was. Austin Aries saying NYC wasnt' tough and saying that the proof was "a day in September some years back". When the crowd fell into a shocked silnce, he said "too soon?". Not cool and I told Cary Silken as much.

Show was called Manhattan Mayhem 3 and was awesome. Nothing MOTYC, but fun and...I'm drunk. It was a very good show, other than Aries deserving a real life beat down. Buy the DVD.

One ROH DVD not mentioned that I think is a must-buy...Good Times, Great Memories. Morishima-SHINGO & MCMG-Briscoes was crazy good, everything else was good as well. It was the last ROH show before the big talent purge.

To JJ, I can't believe he actually said that. I agree with you about wrestling never offending me, but that's just uncalled for. I'm also pissed that I heard they put the title back on him. ROH continues to put the title on wrestlers I don't care for.

                      Re: Ring of Honor

So ROH has a new champ in Austin Aries, and a lot of new talent filling out shows these days. Kenny Omega, Kenny King, Rhett Titus, Joey Ryan and recently the Young Bucks are getting a lot of attention. While the usual suspects of the Briscoes, Dragon, and Nigel seem content to see guys like Tyler Black pushed to the top of the card.

I'm way behind on DVDs, but for those that are staying up with the TV shows, what do you think of the roster and what Ring of Honor is trying to do?

I fell behind on the TV shows. Meant to watch the PPV then the rest but never got around to watching that.

Nothing wrong with pushing new guys. Not pushing new guys is a major problem in TNA. I really like Kenny Omega from what I've seen. I dunno about Titus, not a fan of that gimmick. I think they'd be better off without gimmicks and it would further set them apart from the rest.

Agreed on Titus. Kenny King seems like he's one of those athletes that could jump out of the gym, and Omega brings something pretty unique from what I've seen. Davey Richards though, for my money, is an all world junior in need of a push. Once him and Eddie are done, I really think he needs to take off and start to main event as Black has done. I've heard great things about his match with KENTA too, who has had a big part of recent booking to my excitement.

I'm also in favor for a monster Aries/Strong feud. Roddy always seems to rise to the challenge of a big match, and I always felt that Gabe didn't do their post tag breakup feud any justice.

But as you push the young kids, ROH has brought back and acquired some entertaining veterans. Cabana is fun and fresher than when he left, Rave and the new look Embassy has me intrigued, and D-Lo Brown can still go. Wouldn't mind seeing Buchanan brought in and having those 2 dominate the tag team division for a bit before handing the reigns over to the Young Bucks.

Anyone know why London isn't being brought in though?? I'd die to see him go with Dragon, Davey, Tyler, Aries, Omega, etc.

                            Re: Ring of Honor

I havent really watched wrestling in general in years but I did watch a few ROH matches a while back. The best I saw was Low Ki vs Kenta and was so good, I must have watched that every day for a week.

In regards to where ROH wil be in a year, I dont know but personally, I think tht ROH and TNA should combine/merge, eliminate all the crap and just focus on actual wrestling with the actual talent.

Thats the main reason why I stopped watching wrestling. Just too much garbage and soap opera crap and not enough actual wrestling.

Even though I may have to start taping Smackdown since it appears that the Hart Dynasty is there which I literally just found out about an hour or so ago.

I may check out some of those ROH dvds though.

I almost forgot - are the Briscoes, Kenta, Low Ki, Bryan Danielson, Claudio and Chris Hero still in ROH or am I years behind???

I believe Briscoes, Danielson, Claudio and Hero are still in ROH. I'm not sure about Kenta and Low Ki. I thought I heard Low Ki was wrestling under a different name in the FCW.

I just started watching the ROH CM Punk Dvds, some good stuff on there.

Briscoes - Yes but one was injured as of the last TV show I saw but they taped those a while ago so I don't know if he's better yet.

Kenta - I think he was just on one of the TV shows or will be soon. He isn't property of ROH though,he's borrowed from Japan.

                                Low Ki - No.

                                Bryan Danielson - Yes.

                                Claudio - Yes.

                                Chris Hero - Yes.
