You did miss it. Del Rio was absolutely one of the best characters in years.

If they used him right, he would have been the perfect hybrid of Ted DiBiase, Eddie Guerrero and JBL.

It's damn near criminal how awful his character was written.

I was a little upset when I had heard he took he hood off. But he came in strong. Very good character at the beginning. I like the Eddie/Ted/JBL comparison, it's pretty spot on. He started off real hot, got some decent heat. Then they just booked him so boring, the face turn was forced, and foolish. He could have been a great heel.

Even wwe knows he has/had potential, they didn't even wish him best of luck in his future endeavors.

In 2010 when he debuted they had very few "Characters" on the roster so when he first debuted people were really into him when he was pretty much the mexican JBL. But the best character in WWE back then was CM Punk when he was doing the Messiah gimmick which was awesome despite the poor booking he got in 2010 when they did the Straight Edge Society.

Re: It's almost future endeavor time!

WWE screwed him when they kept delaying his World Title win. He should of won at Mania in 2011. Now we all know this ended up being Edge's last match but at the time no one knew that and I think everyone going into that show figured Del Rio was going to win the title. When he won the title it was too late. The Punk stuff had happened and any interest in Del Rio was gone because Punk had cut his Pipebomb and we were in the Summer Of Punk at the time. His 2 WWE title runs in 2011 were very poor especially the first when he lost the belt after 5 weeks because RAW ratings were down at the start of the NFL Season that year. In 2012 he lost to Sheamus on like 5 straight PPV shows and even then he seemed very displeased with how he was handled. The face run started off fine but there was only so much you could do with him saving Ricardo before people got tired with it.

Now here we are he gets fired for slapping a WWE.com reporter.

For some reason I thought the Straight Edge Messiah was after but it was the year before. IMO Smackdown for those 2-3 years was heads and shoulders better than Raw. That was before they turned Smackdown into a infomercial for Raw and it was booked as a much different alternative to Raw.

Also Del Rio's 1st program with Rey was awesome.

Obligatory "WHAT IS AL BERTO DOING IN THE IMPACT ZONE?!"

Now that that's outta the way... Criminal misuse of his character. He had money but never used it. Oh, rental cars? That's cool, wwe bros.

He was immensely hate-able and could put on good matches. His soaking needed a bit of work (insert 'destiny' here) but I dunno if that's more on him or the writers. So much potential that just went to waste for whatever reasons. It's a shame but he wasn't doing **** so this opens another spot for someone to have meaningless matches on TV.

I don't have any trust with the writers after they turned JTG into a ghost. Face-of-the-Company potential.

When I saw Del Rio for the first time (WWE 13) I figured his character was supposed to be a Mexican JBL. But when I saw him on tv I was like....this is boring. So I hated his character because he was boring. Still I hate seeing people lose their jobs.

You know what funny? I was beginning to come around on him; not for his character but because the guy could put on solid matches with the right opponent.

He seemed like a rea world *******, though, so whatever.

Thank God we don't have to hear that or "THAT'S THE KICK THAT WON HIM A WORLD TITLE!" ever again.

TNA should sign him and play up an angle where he recently lost his lucrative job and all of his fortune and now he's desperate to get it all back.

Have him drive out in a beat up 1995 Chevy.

Just play off of the real life situation. Use it to your advantage without expressly referring to his last job as being a wrestler in WWE. That kind of wink wink type **** worked awesomely for Hall and Nash's WCW debuts.

Then you agree to let WWE have first dibs at buying you should you ever go under in the resulting court settlement. As is tradition.
