        Re: Official WWE Smackdown Thread

Watching the latest SD on Hulu right now. Keep in mind I've not watched an episode of SD in over 14 years and I'm bored ATM. Quick thoughts:

        1. This new commentator is amazing and needs to be promoted to the lead on RAW immediately.

        2. They must still be piping in crowd noise because the pops and boos are much louder and prominent than they are on RAW. I've never heard New Day booed and there were loud boos immediately as soon as Big E started talking before they came out.

        3. Kalisto v Neville is worth watching.

The announcer you're referring to is Mauro Ranallo. He called Pride fights and does boxing for Showtime.

Yeah he is awesome. He sounds like a fight announcer (which he was) and he brings a different energy to WWE that I haven't heard before. He would be awesome on RAW, especially if he replaced Cole. But that's wishful thinking unfortunately.

Smackdown improved tenfold the instant Mauro took over. He really does an amazing job on the mic. I sincerely hope he takes over not only Raw but also all PPVs in due time.

As for last week's Smackdown, Kalisto-Neville was definitely a good match. I hope it leads to Neville getting a push possible in the US or IC title pictures.

The Golden Truth part 2 was hilarious. I'm going to be looking forward to new R-Truth/Goldust segments each week.

Michael Cole is only 47(!), and he ain't go anywhere for a long time, sadly.

I do like the Smackdown format. No 15 minute long Authority promo, just wrestling for 2 hours.

Oh yeah, and Mauro is excellent on commentary.

Kalisto is growing on me. He can really make guys look good.

They actually announced SD match for next week!? Usually if a SD match is ever advertised, its during raw when they randomly plug SD matches. Actually having a segment where the end result is challenging to a match on SD next week is different.

Agreed. It's a nice clean format that really promotes more wrestling matches than anything else. Hopefully they actually start using Smackdown more to keep promoting and furthering storylines than they have in the past. They've done some advancing of stories in recent months on Smackdown, hopefully they keep building it up in 2016.

Yeah, I've always been a sort pro-Kalisto guy. He works his *** off, he's got the high flying moves that are popular with the crowd's, and he really does do a good job of making others look good. I definitely enjoy him more on his own in a singles run than when he was teamed up with the King of Botch.

I like it! It's like they're actively trying to make Smackdown more relevant on its own with its own promotions and announced matches rather than just being the little brother of Raw with rehashed matchups based on what happened Monday night.

Lol, it's weird seeing backstage comedy segments that are actually funny on WWE TV again.

Man AJ and Y2J could make a great tag team. The moments of one up manship was great.
