    Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

The only reason they're losing money is because they offered the PPVs with it. All the content is stuff they already own. The cost of digitizing and the servers isn't substantial on a project like this. But they are losing revenue from every viewer that would normally buy Wrestlemania alone, as the normal purchase cost of that exceeds six months of the network. People that would spend $500 a year on PPV now get by with $120. They have to raise the price of the Network.

It doesn't help when the live feed cuts out. The feed should be flawless for PPV's.

If they didn't offer PPVs they would have even less Network subscribers than they already have.

I would have cancelled weeks ago if not for SummerSlam. Whether I renew in October is up in the air at this point.

They wouldn't need as many subscribers if they still had ppv revenue.

I'm surprised there is so much discussion about whether or not to renew. Do most people mull over $10/month purchases this much or is this specific to disgust with WWE?

I think the debate has to center around live feed issues, most people say the live ppv feeds cut off

Lack of interest in WWE at the moment for me. Currently have no desire to watch Raw or any PPV outside of the big 4. Survivor Series and Royal Rumble are the only reason I am even considering renewing.

Stream quality while being poor at times is not a huge factor. Though, I could always download a show the following day for free in HD with no audio or video issues.

That's their biggest selling point though, the masses of people are not interested in past content, if you have seen their top 10 viewed shows week by week it's consistently all current events or events from 2014. So then it's like why even have the Network if it's not making them any $? The Network will not survive without including PPVs.

The network could survive at $7.99 with no ppv's. Like I said, the actual cost of the network isn't that high. It's the lost revenue from PPV that is causing it to "lose money". Would they lose subscribers? You betcha. But they wouldn't be losing money.

On the flip side, they can only keep the PPVs on if they up the price, at least to $14.99. The WWE simply overestimated its paying fanbase at that price point.

I think once they get it going worldwide they'll have enough subscribers to make it at 9.99.

Maybe, but they'll be losing ppv revenue overseas too.

Honestly, it's not terribly off. A million subscribers was pretty optimistic. The money problems didn't come until Smackdown and Raw failed to get the revenue that they thought they would.
