Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I never thought I would see a Scott Putski reference on the Monday Night Wars series but there it is.
Keith David: Fans on WWE programming were getting more dynamic storylines.
*Cut to 'I'm going to choppy chop your pee pee.'
Also Vickie mentioning the boys packing up and leaving WCW for WWF. There was Eddy....and Dean...and Perry...and...that was it. Just them. Move along.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Heck, Benoit left WCW right after he won the World Heavyweight Championship, that's how fed up he was with the company.
It really is a shame because WCW had great financial backing and I truly believe that something could've been worked out post-AOL merger had they shown themselves capable of truly staying in the game with WWE. I think AOL and co. saw WCW as a sinking ship (yes, it was still drawing a 2.5 or so but they had still lost over 2 million viewers and were trending downward) and bailed. Had WCW been hovering around the 3.5-4.0 mark, there's no way they would have been yanked from TV.Currently Playing:

I was shocked that they showed the other guy and played a clip where JR mentioned his nameComment

"WCW cruiserweights were really nameless, faceless people.."
Because "Viagra on a pole" match was much more entertaining, right Russo?
When they showed The Radicalz, I was hoping we would see a giant black dot between Eddie and Dean.Mets/Giants/Knicks/Rangers/Manchester United/Notre Dame Football

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Yeah they showed Benoit when the Radicals attacked on their first Raw and they even included JR's commentary mentioning him.
While it was true that WWE gave Mr Nameless, Eddy and Rey heavyweight title runs they were forgettable. In Rey's case he was one of the worst booked champions ever and Benoit and Eddy never even sniffed the title again. So while the WWE gave them their 'big break' they eventually saw them as just vanilla midgets in the land of the giants.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
^Supposedly Eddie was gonna win the title again in 2005. I hope he actually was and it's not something WWE just stated to seem good and all. Who knows how diff things might have been had we actually got to continue on with that Eddie-Batista storyline. Eddie and Benoit changed the proceeding era so drastically.
But the main running theme in all this...everything WWE is bashing about their pre-attitude era product, is exactly what's happening in WWE today! Garbage gimmicks, characters from the 80s, fans not being interested/getting fed up, roster talent being wasted and all that. WWE today is like if Austin stayed as ringmaster,Rock stayed as Rocky Maivia,HHH stayed as Hunter Hearst Helmsley,Foley was only Dude Love,Rikishi stayed as The Sultan,Godfather stayed as Shango and so on.Last edited by Majingir; 10-16-2014, 09:15 PM.Comment

Benoit won his title at the 20th anniversary of Wrestlemania over two of the biggest names in the industry. Not too shabby.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
It was a huge honor no doubt but while HHH and HBK went on to main event a hundred more times Benoit was done as a main eventer after jobbing clean to Orton. That year was a nice tribute to Guerrero and Benoit but the company didn't get behind them due to drawing power, ratings, backstage politics or a combination of all.Last edited by MachoMyers; 10-17-2014, 01:15 AM.Comment
