Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I can confirm that there is pretty much no more buffering I watched WM X-SEVEN last night on my Apple TV and the only time I had buffering was after I fast forwarded through entrances and them showing the WWF something in New York/Times Square, I think. And for me that is perfectly acceptable because I have it when I watch Netflix and other tv shows on other apps and online. So I'm guessing they fixed it.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I highly suggest that if you haven't already, watch Nitro starting around August/Sept 1996. I just finished the Sept 23rd episode where a lot of WCW stars are in Japan so nWo runs wild and pretty much takes over the whole night...it's absolutely amazing TV, even in 2015. And on that note, WWF is absolutely atrocious during this time period.Comment

Yeah the show was pretty bad, but I'll always remember it fondly just because that was during my childhood.
Going back and watching it now is funny because you realize HBK was an awful person. The Summerslam 96 spot that Vader messes up and HBK curses him out and then kicks him in the head a couple times....surprised Vader didn't just kill him.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Yeah man I've been really busy since July, it took me almost 3 months to get from RAW July 96 to where I am now which is late September. I find myself skipping through most of it, even though I'm in the same boat as you and loved it as a kid. Plus I was a HUGE Ahmed Johnson fan and Ultimate Warrior fan so those two are gone within a month of each other in 96 and HBK just doesn't hold my interest. I am super excited to get to 97 though. But Nitro though...it's just ****ing epic TV and even today it still feels like they were an outside organization taking over. Brilliant booking.
I gotta try the Nitro stuff. I've basically watched all the Raw and PPV from Jan 93 up to the week before Breakdown 98.
So I feel like I probably should have started in with the Nitros in 95 so I could keep up with both shows in the same era. I honestly wasn't a huge WCW guy as a kid so it would mostly be new stuff to me.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Take it from me, I never watched Nitro until Hall made his debut in 1996. So last year I started watching from the beginning in 1995 and it's just awful because of the Dungeon of Doom and this is the time where everyone's starting to get sick of Hulk Hogan. I made it to about the 3rd to last episode of 1995 before I stopped. You really don't miss anything important by skipping ahead, so like I said in my original post, I highly suggest starting with the late May episode where Hall debuts or skip to September. You can't go wrong either way but I personally wouldn't recommend 1995 WCW to anybody.
Haha the Dungeon of Doom is pretty much the last thing I watches in WCW as a kid. Amazing they went from that to NWO.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

As goofy and stupid as the Dungeon of Doom was, the actual thought and booking behind it was very much a proto-NWO thing but the characters were just so over the top and the fact that they were feuding with Hulkamania made them less of a threat than what they could've been.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I think the fact that it was all Hulk's buddies from the 80's kind of made it hokey to some extent.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

I said this earlier in the thread if it was booked like Kevin Sullivan booked the Army of Darkness in Florida it might have been much much better.Mets/Giants/Knicks/Rangers/Manchester United/Notre Dame Football

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
The competition between the two promotions really did mark a win for all of us. The beginnings of the nWo angle in WCW was absolutely must-see television. I have to get back into Nitro again. I was watching Raw and Nitro together up until the start of '97 because they made us wait so damn long for '97 Nitros. I kept going with Raw and I'm now on the last Raw before Judgement Day '98. You talk about great tv. Raw was just amazing tv at this time. I forgot just how good the Austin/McMahon stuff was, the Undertaker/Kane/Paul Bearer/Mankind stuff, the Nation/DX rivalry. It's just been great. I also forgot just how good of a PPV Summerslam '98 was. Almost every match on the card with the exception of the Val Venis/D'Lo European title match and the Oddities/Kaientai had a legitimate build and history behind it and didn't feel like it was just thrown together at the last minute to be filler. The crowds were electric and you could really see where they were just connecting and putting it all together. Really a great time to be a wrestling fan.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
TBH I might have to watch all of Nitro on the Network. Because I never really watched WWF/WCW as a kid because my mother hated wrestling. But I would go to my buddy's house (this is in like '05/'06) when they had just released the On Demand channel and would watch all of the old Raw stuff from the late 90's and man that was such a great time. Like I just went and watched WM X-7 for the first time and man there were some great matches and I didn't even watch SCSA v. Rock because I fell asleep. Like the TLC match was a freaking classic (Only reason I wanted to watch the PPV), also Shane v. Vince was pretty good (hated the storyline behind it though mostly the Linda part, which I talked about in the OT Thread), the Hardcore triple threat match, Angle v. Benoit was another great match. So many great matches during that entire era.Comment
