King can probably answer this but I was surprised they didn’t have WM at the United Center that year. When they announced the WM 22 crowd of 19,000, I was like “that’s it?”. They’d just had packed out houses in Houston, Seattle and Toronto so I was curious as to why they went back to smaller venues like Staples Center and the AllState Arena?

Yeah we always had conversations about the Allstate and UC. From what I’ve gathered over the years there’s a few different things.
1) To start it’s cheaper to book the Allstate over the UC.
2) At the time the Allstate was the safer neighborhood as the UC is right in the heart of the west side of Chicago and the stadium wasn’t too far from the projects.
3) Vince has been booking the Allstate since the ‘80s and was even one of the venues for Wrestlemania 2.
4) WCW used to always run shows at the UC so I imagine there was some sort of deal in place there and they just kept running shows from Allstate as a tradition.
5) Allstate is right there next to the airport and hotels so it’s a lot easier for talent/staff to fly in book a room at a hotel that’s 2 minutes from the arena and head to the airport that’s like 5 minutes away.
6) I think they knew they were going to be moving away from the smaller venues for Mania so they wanted to do those last Manias at their loyal venues that they’d been doing business with all those years. Plus if you look at the pattern it looked like they tried to get to certain venues every 10 years or so. MSG had 1, 10 and 20. Chicago got 2, 13 and 22.

I've brought this up before but they don't run televised shows at MSG anymore because of the costs to tape there.Comment

The Eugene gimmick was so ****ing corny, man.
Who thought that was a good idea because I don’t get the purpose of him at all, lol.

Oh man that segment where Vince is interviewing personal assistants that the infamous gif comes from with Stacy dancing on the desk. WWE may have gotten shut down if that thing happened now.

Somehow the gimmick got over, too, until our boy Trips put a stop to it.Currently Playing:

And from what I have read/heard online the dude that had the Eugene was actually a good in ring worker and not some schlub they pulled off the street that had a limited background.

King Booker.[emoji1490]
There’s not enough words to describe how hilarious and amazing that gimmick was. And that accent gets me every time. I wish he would’ve talked like that even when he moved to commentary.

I will never understand the people that hated that gimmick. Some of Booker’s best work outside of his time with Goldust.

Man loved that gimmick, killed me when he had that little smirk, eyes wide and pinky out saying "King Bookah!!" Love it-= Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.=- Edward MurphyComment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I didn't like King Booker because they took a guy with great intensity and personality and made him this comatose heel character. Then again, that era of WWE clouds my judgement maybe. Raw really started pissing me off around 2007.Last edited by dubcity; 12-15-2017, 11:20 PM.Comment

And in an instant, he'd easily go back to his original gimmick if he was pissed off. Goes from talking in a horrible British accent to "Yo Sucka, you wanna dance?!?"#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Sharmell was underrated I think cause she really helped elevate his character being the Queen she was. She was a trip reading from the royal scrolls and her all hail King Bookah! Lol
Funny thing also this was one of the few times I enjoyed JBL on commentary while he was talking about King Booker T
