    Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

I couldn’t agree more about the are set ups being way too much now. The creativity that the old sets provided was so much fun. Everything now, except WM, just looks the same. It’s another reason why PPVs have gone down the toilet. There’s literally nothing that sets them apart from a Raw with less promos

This week's addition to Hidden Gems...some 3-hour Lex Express thing.

The first hour is the unedited July 4 Bodyslam Challenge. The last half hour is the Lex/Yoko Summerslam match. The hour and a half in between looks like a bunch of footage from Luger's bus tour. So if anyone's a big 1993 Lex Luger fan, today's your day.

Backlash week felt more like WM week than WM week itself!

Backlash on Sunday, Raw on Monday, and the "Network TV Special, Smackdown!" also that week.

What a Raw after Backlash that was. Really felt like Raw after WM.

I watched the finals of Survivor Series 98, which was the month after the Halloween Havoc where the Hogan Warrior match went long and they had to go off the air before the main event finished and then aired the match on Nitro the next night

JR:There is no time limit and we will stay with it until there is a winner
King:Yeah you're going to get to see all of this PPV
JR:That's not nice King, making reference to those less fortunate

                Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

Now entering the month that'll be hard to watch, May 1999.

-First promo to open the show is with the new Corporate Ministry. Kind of unsettling words spoken in this promo given that they were addressing Over the Edge. HHH talking about a career ending (The Rocks), and Undertaker talking about a sacrifice (after he beats Stone Cold at Over the Edge).

-Now we get the debut of The Union!

-Billy Gunn gets his "Mr.___" theme song!

-Shane getting obsessed with power, and we see Vince McMahon come in with Steph and Linda (her WWF character debut I think?). Shane talks back to Linda, Vince goes crazy, and Shane says it was his plan for Undertaker to kidnap Steph.

-Vince vs Shane in a match, Vince wins after hitting a horrible Stone Cold Stunner on Shane.

-Undertaker vs Big Show for the first time ever. Big Show wins after Taker literally destroys a baseball bat over Big Shows head! I think that actually did hurt Big Show, he got busted open and swelling on his face too.

-Rock vs Austin in a lumberjack match. Corporate Ministry are lumberjacks. Match doesn't happen, they attack Rock/Austin, then Vince comes out and brings the roster with him to take on the Corporate Ministry! Eventually Taker/HHH take out Rock and Austin off the stage.

It's weird seeing Rock/Austin on the same side of things. Not sure if it's happened any other time, but the one I remember most with this happening was Rock/Austin vs the NWO.

And Corporate Ministrys entrance, obviously their great theme, but what a sight to see their stable coming out to the ring.

Maj, like and appreciate the recaps. Brings back good childhood memories, haha.

But as you talk about the "Higher Power" angle, I can't help but to shake my head when I remember the underwhelming conclusion of who the "HP" was (in hindsight, because I loved it as a kid).

Reading through your recaps + knowing what happens up until the reveal...it just made no sense, at all.

Edit: The one good thing that came from the reveal was how it played a role in the start of the *barf* McMahon-Hemsley Regime.

It didn't make sense, but Vince saying "It's me, Austin!" and JR's reaction "Son of a *****" still cracks me up to this day.

Yeah, I enjoyed it and the entire story line. Some of the aspects of the story line were great or just hilarious (Vince's segment with Mideon, after the interview with him and Stephanie:"GO! GO! GO! GO! GO!").

I should have a blog just recapping all this stuff (and other shows I watch). For all of the 2-3 people a month who'd read it lol.

I know who the higher power is, but I don't know much about the storyline in the few weeks before and after the reveal itself, so I want to see just how little sense anything here made.

From WWE Network News: this week's Hidden Gem is the Black Saturday episode of WCW.

Nothing you can't find on Youtube, but eh...they can't all be winning weeks.
