    Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

The RA special first focuses on the Invasion.

I knew it wasn't filled with top tier talent, but that is a horrible lineup.

    Palumbo,Ohaire,Stasiak,Jindrack and others lol.

Although imo, the invasion was much better than most give it credit for. Ignore the fact that theres no NWO,Flair,Bischoff and other and focus on the story itself and the fact we did have the ECW top talent part of the alliance, and it seems like a better storyline.

I said it before, if the 01 Invasion was simply ECW vs WWF and then WCW entered to kick off 2002, it would've been a way better story.

I haven't watched any of the classic stuff in a while and watching the first part of that documentary, I had the same reaction. I never realized how terrible of a lineup they had. Those contracts for the big name WCW stars must have been ridiculous that Vince didn't want to buy out the contracts.

      Such a missed opportunity man.

Was it more about not wanting to pay them or was it in part due to the XFL and the amount of money being lost while all this was going on.

It was that the guys got paid and didn’t have to work. Nobody was going to take a buy out and go to work when they got paid their big money to sit at home.

I liked the part where “Get the F out” was entirely a marketing strategy and not at all the result of a lawsuit haha

And yeah, even with ECW the Invasion was arguably the single most disappointing storyline in wrestling history. What a sloppy mess that turned into

Down with the flu so I checked out the first two episodes of the RA documentary. I imagine this is what it's like for someone watching a documentary on the AE that didn't see it live. It has me intrigued and if I had time I would watch it in order. Such a crazy thing how stacked that OVW class was.

It's also funny watching how they were saying hey we suck and need someone to grab the brass ring and Cena did but you fast forward to modern WWE and they're in the same damn problem again but legit make it so there can't be a next Cena.

The way wwe is now, they won't have a next Cena,Rock,Austin,Hogan.

They don't want stars to be bigger than the company.

I don’t think that’s true at all. All of those guys expanded WWEs audience and made tons of money for the company. Business is better when WWE has a go to guy.

But at the same time, they dont want one guy to be so big where they end up taking a big hit once that guy is injured or gone.

The gap between Hogan era and AE led to them taking a hit. Same as the hit they took once Rock/Austin left.

Most of the WCW wrestlers were contracted through WCW directly. The guys like Goldberg, Hogan, Nash, Sting, etc. were contracted through AOL/Time Warner directly.

So even though WCW was bought out, all of those guys could sit at home and be paid by AOL/Time Warner and not have to do anything.

                        Hope that straightens things out.

You could also say business wouldn’t have gotten as high as it was without Austin, The Rock, and The Hulkster. I’d take the highs and lows over them being consistently ok like they are now. I’d I’m being generous by calling them consistently ok.

Before there was NXT, there was simply FCW. Learn about FCW and the stars that came out of that brand in a new documentary coming to the Network on March 8th.

That'll be a fun one to watch.

I loved watching FCW. Someone used to post episodes on YouTube from their local Florida station.

                              Roman when he was Leakee

Rollins and Ambrose now getting their starts in WWE (Rollins dominating the FCW 15 division , and Ambrose was doing his crazy gimmick and great feud with Regal)

Lee Kruger, Original Ascension, Summer Rae and others were all fun to watch too.

On YouTube, there is a Triple Threat match between Leakee, Rollins and Ambrose in FCW. The winner of this match faced Leo Kruger for the FCW Championship, which is funny to think about now a days. Those three went on to win multiple world titles, were one of the most dominant factions in the modern era, and became the vocal point of the WWE Main Event Scene while Leo Kruger turned into..... Adam Rose.
