I did say yesterday I wasn't going to watch until something interested me again. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in the fallout tonight. So I guess I'm a liar, but sort of not? Either way, I'll be watching tonight.

All the fantasy booking aside, WWE is getting attention for what's going on with Bryan whether it's a work or not.Comment

They also didn't have six (?) hours of weekly TV pushing these storylines back in 1997. More exposure for storylines means more weekly progress and (comparatively) quicker resolutions. You can't apply timelines of the past to today's product.
For their sake, work or not, hopefully they can capitalize on it somehow. It's rare in this era that the fans become this attached to a superstar so naturally; and it would be a shame to see that go to waste.Comment

Re: Raw 1/27/14: If you quit watching for awhile, I wouldn't blame you.
Couple thoughts
1. The internet is the best and worst thing to happen to wrestling for me. It opened the door to seeing talents wrestle that had it not been for the internet I would have never had the pleasure of seeing them perform. Be it Independent or in Japan. The downside of the internet is learning about wrestling politics and reading of backstage dirt. I was better off clueless in that aspect of the business. Wrestling was better as a kid who only what the performs told me every Saturday morning.
2. I'm having a hard time understand the outrage from fans after last night. He was never scheduled to be a part of the Rumble match. No other performers who wrestled last night were in the Rumble. What's so bad about Batista winning? Batista facing off against Orton works for me.
The payoff is coming. Might not be when some wanted but it's coming. He doesn't need to be fighting for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Orton needs the belt for people to care about his match. I'd rather Bryan go up against HHH and then begin his charge at the belt after. That would get him over the hump so to speak.Comment

Re: Raw 1/27/14: If you quit watching for awhile, I wouldn't blame you.
I don't think I've posted regularly or read the wrestling forums in months (probably longer). I didn't make some grand declaration like goh, I just started having it on in the background while playing games and barely paid attention to the product. So, I guess I stopped posting here out of indifference to the product/ boredom.
I must say, judging by the number of posts both pre-Raw in this thread and post-Rumble in the other not to mention all the interwebz buzz, tweets, "reports", theories, etc. circulating people are more interested now than ever before (I know I am).
I imagine if Bryan won, people would be like "OMG that was awesome, glad he's back in the title hunt", but WWE would not be in the spotlight like they are right now. NOT getting pushed and being held down has been sort of Bryan's gimmick and now the people holding him down (and everyone else around them) will get nuclear heat while Bryan may surpass Austin level pops. Wrestling 101, the "chase" for the underdog face is arguably more important than the run itself.
I'm not going to say anything else other than I wouldn't be posting right now if it wasn't for this move.Comment

As for the Bryan thing, it's the way of getting into the WWE Title match, somewhat bypassing Authority cronies. He beat 29 other guys after wrestling a 20 minute match, that would, once again, put over that he's the best in the company. Let alone he would've done what Triple H has done, win the Rumble.
People would have been fine if Reigns won, because in that one match, he went from a guy that was sorta over, to a guy that's insanely over now.
Who knows, maybe this is a GIANT work, and I will be the first to admit, you got me Triple H, you got me. I've always been hopeful of Triple H, but if this really is work, then screw him (in the best way possible) for making me believe in it.Last edited by Ice_Cold345; 01-27-2014, 07:12 PM.NFL: Houston Texans / Carolina Panthers

Re: Raw 1/27/14: If you quit watching for awhile, I wouldn't blame you.
You guys can be pissed all you want about the whole Daniel Bryan thing, but the fact that this week's thread already has more posts than most Raw threads halfway through the show means they did something right. It's creating buzz around tonight's show, regardless of if it's positive or negative.
And I guarantee most people who are pissed at the WWE will tune in tonight to see where they go with Bryan, because not having him in the Rumble put a huge question mark on what he's going to do next and will get people to tune in to see where it goes.Comment

Maybe that changes tonight since the Wyatts have moved on to Cena, I don't know.Comment
