The roster is pretty loaded right now, why should WWE bend over backwards for him when he's already proved twice he'll just stop showing up if he doesn't fell like it.
What do Punk, Austin, Hogan, Flair all have in common? They were all great superstars that took their ball and went home, but yet are still some of the best and get cheers no matter what. Fans have a short memory. And no, he has no obligation to anyone but himself. Nobody has any obligation to anyone except parents taking care of their children. He can quit anytime he wants. If there is one thing I am pissed off about him leaving (and I have been a huge fan of him since high school when I'd make trips to ROH all the time when they were in Chicago and the surrounding area) it's that the WWE dropped the ball on Punk/Cena at WrestleMania, as the so-called "Main Event" or not.

The best Punk in WWE was Jeff Hardy era and the "Summer of Punk" up until the MITB match. Aside from that, he's been pretty "meh." His long title reign turned him into a whiny heel, which is a terrible character for him.
To be fair, they clearly had him dumb down his in ring style when he got bigger to barely above Cena and Orton. Knee followed by the knee/bulldog. Springboard clothesline. Double axehandle. Swinging neckbreaker. Savage elbow. GTS. He stopped using moves like Welcome to Chicago, Pepsi Twist, Falcon Arrow a while ago, and even the Anaconda Vice is used much more rarely. Keep the move set simple and repetitive and easy to follow. #ShoulderTackleShoulderTackleSitoutPowerbombFiveKn uckleShuffle

        RAW "LIKES"
-Strong opening promo from Paul Heyman. Talked about CM Punk and then moved onto matters at hand about Brock Lesnar's newest opponent in the Undertaker. Even Lesnar got to talk for once!
-The Usos becoming the new Tag Team Champs! Awesome as they deserve it. But why not at WM XXX instead?
-Great rematch between the Wyatt Family and The Shield. These guys were giving it their all. Liked the conflict of Rollins watching his teammates taking the lost.
-Very good promo between Daniel Bryan/HHH/Stephanie. Fans were wild during this segment. This is the Authority that we are supposed to hate. Not the bi-polar versions we been seeing lately.
-Holy cow! Dolph Ziggler finally got a win on TV!
-The slow break up of the Real Americans is happening.
-The main event match was lame but I liked how it ended with Bryan kicking HHH which lead to HHH giving Bryan the Pedigree. This feud is getting intense but will it pay off in the end?

        "DISLIKES"
-Don't care for Santino and Emma vs Fandango and Summer Rae. This is all a comedy act now.
-Sheamus vs Christian, we've seen too many times already.
-Bella Twins beating Alicia Fox and Askana. Where is AJ and Tamina?

Overall, this was a good show. The WWE didn't let the fans hijack the show and handled it well. CM Punk lost his smile and is not coming back. Fans need to deal with it!

OF COURSE a show built around Punk and will he or won't he show and with a crowd chomping at that bit ends with HHH and dummy Brotista standing tall over Daniel Bryan...lol what a joke.

That was HHH and the E's big F YOU to Chicago.

Also Christ almighty Cena is beyond nauseating...same promo week in and week out and still plays the pandering golly gee shucks doofus in front of a crowd that hates his guts. I wish he'd just go away...

I don't know how long this guy has been around, but I think Cesaro is pretty dope. I haven't seen him on the mic or anything yet, but the man can wrestle. Powerful dude too. That one move he pulled out on Big E the other week was pretty crazy. Has he been in any major storylines?

I have the same frustrations with Cena, but he's there week in and week out, takes whatever the universe gives with a smile, and gives his all whether injured or not, and above all he does it without complaint. You have to respect that.

                  Re: Raw 03/03/14: #hijackraw begins.

I had intended to write my thoughts after watching the show but I was pretty much out of it by the end of the show and slept. Personally I think a 3 hr show every week is a bit long. Too bad they can't compromise and do a 2 1/2 hour show.

Anyways a few takeaways from last night:

                  - Great promo by Heyman to start the show as it seemed he was on board with everyone than he turns on the crowd and goes to talking about Brock. It was nice to see Brock actually on the mic for a little. He isn't the worst guy i've heard on the stick and it gives him an added credibility to say that he doesn't claim things he can't back up than he destroys Mark Henry.

                  - Cesaro is a pretty interesting guy. His moveset is pretty unique compared to his peers and I just can't get over how a 1950s finisher is suddenly an over move again in the Cesaro Swing. It looks like the Real Americans are going to break up with Cesaro vs. Swagger at WM.

                  - Y'know, I like Christian. He's a guy that has been around a long time and can generally pull off good matches. The feud between him and Sheamus has been pretty good at least in the ring. I think it should be fleshed out more but they're putting out good matches though I think they should be a tad shorter. Christian is at a point in his career where he helps elevate the talent so I don't necessarily mind the jobbing but I think he's going to get the better end of this feud because you can't just have a guy jobbing all the time when he's supposed to be this desperate veteran who wants one last shot.

                  - So are the New Age Outlaws going to be full on heel now? It was pretty interesting how Road Dogg basically said "eff you" and didn't do their patented introduction. Nice to see the Usos win but I have a sneaking suspicion they're going to drop it right back tonight.

                  - The Main Event was to be expected so no real comments there BUT I do want to talk about the promo between Bryan and the Authority. So I see WWE is making this into a quasi work-shoot. HHH's whole spiel about how Bryan isn't good enough, too small, doesn't have the look etc etc instantly reminded me of WCW's attitude to their smaller athletic guys and the whole "glass ceiling" phenomenon that was prevalent in that promotion. It was essentially a big slap down to Bryan and I couldn't help but think this is a public version of backstage confrontations some wrestlers have had in the past with the booker/owner of various promotions when they feel like their voice wasn't being heard or they weren't being pushed enough. This whole angle works on a smark level and absolutely works on a mark level as well. IF The Powers That Be are smart they put the title on Bryan at Mania because you can't continue to this kind of storyline much beyond that point before his heat dissipates.

Overall, I thought it was a pretty good show with The Shield/Wyatts match and the Main Event being the best in ring work of the night.

Ive been reading everyones comments this morning. My wife got ill last night and I missed 90% of raw. I caught part of the Shield vs Wyatt match. No doubt, these guys are the future. I was even impressed with Ambrose last night. Rollins jumping in and out of the ring was freaking amazing. I see big things from him as well.

I caught part of Cena/Wyatt promo. Was kind of dull

                    - Liked the way Bryan turned the CM punk chants into YES!!!

My issue w/ the Bryan thing is this, is he really over bc people care about what he does, or is he just a vessel for people to voice their overall dissatisfaction with the product? In other words, once Bryan gets the title will people grow bored of him and move onto the next guy that's being 'held back' (kayfabe and IRL).

This was the first Raw I watched in a long time, and seeing Bryan come out and just pander like any other babyface does for cheap pops wasn't really that impressive TBH.

I do think part of his popularity has to do with what you mention about the fans being dissatisfied with the overall product. He had enough of a following, though, to where he was over pretty much from the jump in WWE. Obviously not to the level he's at now, but fans at least knew who he was and liked his in-ring work.

The Yes thing started in early 2012 (just before that year's WM if I remember correctly), and WWE obviously didn't think it was going to be a thing because they turned him heel (technically was already a heel) right after WM, but eventually turned back face because the fan support was just too large to ignore.

His promos were a lot better back when he wasn't playing to the crowd to chant Yes or No after every sentence. He's decent on the mic; not a CM Punk, but he can hold his own.

So, while you can certainly chalk up some of his popularity to general disdain for the WWE product, most of Bryan's popularity has been earned by the performer with his in-ring work and his ability to connect with the audience.
