Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...
Ah, gotcha. I was gonna say, I remember watching this live and don't remember anything super insane other than the whole Hogan thing. I thought maybe that GIF implied that was a **** up on her part and she wasn't supposed to do that or something.Comment

As I said in a quote tweet about this thread, that feeling when Twitter does a 1000000X better job of explaining a PPV then Wikipedia. https://twitter.com/BulletClubItal/s...73276942184448Comment

Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...
The Russo vs Hogan thing was pretty crazy, but I think it's a case of both guys being wrong in terms of what they thought worked in 2000.
The ultimate in WCW Russo trash was the 3-way match at New Blood Rising in 2000, with Goldberg, Nash and Scott Steiner. The angle was that Goldberg would not go up for Nash's powerbomb. The announcers even said it like that. They acted suprised because Goldberg left the ring, and they said he was supposed to "go up for it," with the implication that he went off script. It was the ultimate insider BS booking, but while at the same holding up a huge sign saying "this is fake."Comment

Watched Bash at the Beach 2000 because they did commentary on it on Tony Schiavone's podcast.
People always talk about Russo's rant because it was such a damn mess, but to me the part where Jarrett lays down is the ultimate in Russo booking. Everything had to be either a worked shoot, or gimmicky BS.
He would rather people be confused and wonder if what they were seeing wasn't planned than have the crowd suspend their disbelief and enjoy a well put together match.
Oh, and all the ******* false finishes. Ridiculous. And it's not even like now where you pretty much expect a guy to kick out of the finisher at least a few times.
You had guys go head first into a chair, then get hit with a finisher, and then kick out. Felt like there was 2 false finishes too many in every single match.
I'm not super anti-Russo, but the stuff he did when he had the most power was no bueno.Comment

It was worked until he came back out after he knew Bischoff and Hogan were gone. Then he went off script and that’s what led to the lawsuit. Original idea was Hogan returning at Halloween Havoc as the “real champion.”

Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...
On July 13th, 2015 Stephanie McMahon brought change to a Women's division that desperately needed it. Stephanie announced the arrival of NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. Thus titled the "Divas Revolution" at the time, it would only be months later that Sasha, Charlotte and Becky were wrestling in a Triple Threat at Mania 32 for the new Women's Championship.

This was one of my most memorable Raw moments in history. Kane for the first little while after he unmasked was great. I loved watching all of this during that time, wanting to see what happens next, and seeing how crazy good everything was.Comment
