20 years ago today, this show premiered on TV

Show opens with the debut of:

First match ever on SD had this superstar win:

(first and only time Owen was ever on Smackdown)

                Main event was:

Wouldn't be until August that it became a regular TV show. No doubt we'll get Smackdown 20th anniversary show (hopefully better than the letdown that was Smackdown 1000). I just wonder if SD20 will be on USA or FOX. Timing makes more sense to have it on USA since SD did officially debut in August, but at the same time you do want to have a really huge show on FOX(maybe first episode on FOX ends up being the SD 20th anniversary show, so fans can see new and old faces on their FOX premiere)

WWE's first adventure into movies happened on this day as WWE Studios' first film was released into theaters. That movie....... See No Evil starring Kane.

Also in order to promote the movie we got this storyline.....

                    May 19!
That was a fun story. The debut of fake kane was horrible (did they buy the wig last minute at a party store?), but having kane vs fake kane was cool. Thinking there was a chance of kane putting back on the mask, becoming that monster again.

Poor Heath, he was the last one standing among the group until The Planet's Champion returned.

Justin Roberts has that tie he was strangled with on display in his home lol. That's a collectible right there.

Nexus was so cool. Even today looking back on how things ended up, those first 2 months were awesome. Their debut was one of the best. Sucks just how badly WWE dropped the ball on them.

Cena forced to join nexus, Barrett should've won the title. If Cena turned heel during his nexus time and became their leader, that would've been so good.
