His Lloyd's of London deal really gave him the strangest career arc. He was completely retired from late 93-96, doing commentary for most of the era, then he goes to WCW and just sort of blends in there all the way to 2000, and by the time 2002 comes around it feels so odd to see the Mr Perfect character in that version of WWF/WWE.

Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...
Mae Young would have been 100 this year!
This was the year she was saying she'd compete in a match (funny enough I think she challenged one of HHH/Stephs daughters). Who knows if she would have been able to even make it to the ring at that age, but it would've been special if that had Mae Young celebrating her 100th birthday in WWE.Comment

I think for a lot of people that Smackdown was the first bit of escape from whatever the hell was going on in the world. Also the curiosity of finding out what the hell they/we were going to do. I also still remember that first Dynamite with Cody in the ring at the start.Comment

AEW really led the way on presentation too, pointing the hard cam at the entrance and having wrestlers as crowd while WWE was still showing empty chairs and silence.
It was an interesting time to watch.Comment

Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...
Bayley made her NXT tv debut 10 years ago today
It's crazy seeing Bayleys opponent list and realizing she's fought so many notables in women's division history.
Besides the current roster, she's faced Paige, AJ, Mickie, soon to be Lita and Trish, and I'm not sure if she competed against the likes of Molly,McCool,Beth during the rumble, but you could possibly add them too.Comment

Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...
You now have to stay good/relevant for much longer, and people aren't over remembering you because of a smaller stint.
When you think of someone like Rock or Austin or Lita, how long were they actually active competitors? You had everything you knew about them crammed into less than a several year span.
Now, several years would basically be like Ambrose/Mox being done with WWE when he was and that's the entire career. Imagine Reigns and Rollins being done soon after that too.
But it also could make someone more appreciated and get that respect for longevity and just overall improvement too.
Imagine if Miz or Kofi was done in the mid 2010s. Instead we got to see both reach their peaks over a decade after they debuted. Similarly with McIntyre, once he was done the first time, imagine if that was it for him too.Comment
