When I was a kid I thought Hogan joining ruined the vibe with Hall and Nash, but as an adult I realize that they needed him. Otherwise they would have had way too much "cool heel" vibes to do what they did with Sting and Goldberg down the line. I don't think Hogan was a great heel, but he did enough. And his star power in WCW was very necessary.

That original PC class really launched so much talent that even to this day is making an impact in WWE.

The PC is one of the best business/talent related things they've done. Crazy realizing up until the NXT days, developmental and basically anything non WWE was so bush league. WWE went from basically having talent in rec baseball parks to their own full AAA farm system.

I always find it funny seeing Woods in any early NXT/PC stuff when you know of his story about how he was applying to be in FCW and they shut down the day after he applied, and then he tracked them down in NXT to do the same thing.

I'm gonna go ahead and keep my oldhead self quiet about the PC, and how dumb it actually is in the content of pro wrestling and getting over in any way.

Is there really any argument against the PC?

Yes it's just teaching the WWE style, but at this point that's the default, standard style of American wrestling so it's probably not a bad thing to learn?

The first (of sadly only a few) events in the non McMahon era.

Felt like such a breath of fresh air seeing a non Vince led show, and we started seeing various people returning too.

And McAfee still on commentary made it that much better.

I was there for it.... what a show. Especially when Brock lifted the ring with the tractor, that was crazy in person. Also really enjoyed Nashville as well, my friends and I walked down broadway after the show and listened to music bar hopping, such a great city.

Will be in Detroit for my third straight Summerslam... wonder crazy thing will I see this year.

I know people who don't watch wrestling much if at all and they still talk about the tractor moment to this day.

                        Talk about getting old.

But also one of the best promos ever.

A couple days late but Summerslam 2004 took place on August 15th, 2004 live from Toronto, CA. The commercial spots for the show incorporating the Olympics were quite hilarious. Basically, I'm making this post more for the commercial spots and how I want to see WWE do Olympic type of ads for the 2024 Summerslam.

Surprised they haven't since given NBC has the rights to the Olympics don't they? So it would tie in.

Speaking of Summerslam 2004, it'll always be up there for me in terms of one of my fave events. Not for the actual show itself, just the fact of having SS in Toronto and the hype around the city.

Even SS2019 was so special here too. Still hear people to this day who might not have even been big wrestling fans talking about WWE taking over the city for the weekend.

It's still the most bizarre thing how during this all, I'm not even tired of him as champ or hoping it would end soon.

Don't get me wrong, I fully thought losing to Edge at WM, McIntyre at Clash, Jey at SS would've made the most sense, but besides that, I've been fine with the run.

Even during Cenas runs there were always times I thought "they surely have to have him lose by now right?"

A year was a bit of an * because it was during the pandemic, but even then, 2 years infront of fans as champ. Not sure how many talent during the TV era could do that and not have the average fan still as interested in/turn on him.
