Any truth to the rumor of Adam Cole going to AEW in September as he's working with WWE through SummerSlam on a verbal only contract?

Re: AEW Off-Topic
However, whether he goes to AEW is another story. I said it before, I'd be more surprised if he doesn't go to AEW. Forget about creative or title shots or anything like that. If you were him and the money was comparable, would you choose to work in a company with many of your friends (some as EVPs) and your girlfriend who is also one of the top people there, or choose to work in the company you've been with for a few years and built new friendships there?
I'd go with the former.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Really could see him going either way with it. He's built a good fanbase in NXT, and theres probably gonna be more for him to do in WWE.
That said, not gonna blame a guy for going to the company with all his friends and fiance and taking a potentially reduced role.Support Local Sports

Re: AEW Off-Topic
The fact that there's actually a scenario where Adam Cole could compete at Takeover on Sunday and then show up on Dynamite on Wednesday would be one of the craziest and most surreal feelings I've had in wrestling (not including tonight).
Punks first appearance on Dynamite, and then an Adam Cole debut on top of all that, it could really be their best show ever.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
He is, Regal and Miz are on the stage too and Bryan is cutting a promo telling Miz he's better than him and then Bryan finishes it off by attacking Michael Cole who apparently is a heel commentator and has been burying himComment

Don't remind me of heel Michael Cole. That whole stuff was horrible.Comment

As for the heel Cole stuff, that was brutal, but this was also around the time that Rock returned, Truth went heel, Summer of Punk, so there was SOME great stuff.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
The Tony/Nick Khan feud is something I never thought we'd be talking about but here we are. I read that WWE/Nick Khan as part of the NXT re-branding and how they want things going forward is elite athletes with little to no wrestling experience so they can mold them to the WWE-style from the get-go and not have them need to "unlearn" the indie style.
I'm sorry but haven't we been through this era already? Mid 00's all those big jacked dudes with no personalities?
So then Tony Khan made this tweet as an indirect response to that:

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Young Bucks updated their bio (they do this a lot) on Twitter with a link to a video about a seance, which if you're like me and didn't know what that meant lol it's a meeting at which people attempt to make contact with the dead, especially through the agency of a medium.
Dr. Britt Baker responded with the chin-scratching emoji. She is the girlfriend of Adam Cole.
So yeah...Comment

https://twitter.com/TonyKhan/status/1429553075795210242Tony is not wrong. I get that when they bring in guys from the Independent scene that they have to teach them the WWE style, that is something we all understand. That is what NXT is for, but at the same time the best matches are the ones where you have two different styles going against each other. It's why Lesnar has his best matches with smaller guys like a Bryan, Styles or even Punk at Summerslam 2013. If Hunter doesn't bury Nick Khan with his golden shovel, AEW is going to compete with WWE much sooner rather than later.
I understand appreciating and embracing all forms of professional wrestling, but trying to take the "high and mighty" stance isn't necessary.
I wish AEW & Tony Kahn the best, but he's a rich kid playing with his new toy. Let's see how he feels after going 10, 20, 30 years in and has to eventually "embrace" a safer, more sustainable style.
