I’ll say it. At this point, Reigns is the better all around Wrestler. Omega is obviously better in the ring. But he’s god awful on the mic and his character is average. Reigns character is fantastic, he’s become very good on the mic and he’s well above average in the ring.

    Discuss.

The old "wrestler vs sports entertainer" debate.

To me, I'd take the sports entertainer over the wrestler.

Not a knock on anyone here, but can you imagine if during the AE people mention that Rock,Austin,HHH and others aren't so good because they're not professional wrestlers? And how Taka, Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit should be guys that are the champ over them?

Wrestling could be like dunking in basketball. Yes, you can make it flashier than the average person, and non NBA players could post videos of better looking dunks than NBA players do, but can you also shoot, dribble, play defense?

That's my take on it. You can be a great wrestler, but you need more than wrestling to be a great "sports entertainer".

Talent today mention being inspired by the likes of Eddie and HBK. Well..guys like that were great wrestlers AND great characters.

It doesn't (and I'll say shouldn't) be an either or thing. You need both whether that be guys that have both or a card full matches that have both.

Also Kenny is just fine on the microphone.

If you don't like his anime villain character that's one thing, but he's not bad.

Dynamite last night drew 1.3m viewers, and beat Raw in the 18-49 demo.

I'm not on the "I hope AEW ends WWE" side, I just hope that things like this can push WWE to actually change things up.

A rising tide lifts all boats is where I am.

Of AEW and WWE can continue to pull ratings that are comparable to non-NFL sports, they're both going to keep getting better TV deals, and it may even (however unlikely) open the door for other promotions to get TV deals as well. I don't catch IMPACT all that often but it's be cool for them to have a real TV deal again. As long as live wrestling keeps drawing it's good for everyone, and good for wrestling.

It also helps that the people in charge of networks now are likely at the very least aware of Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, The Rock and others.

A big change from the past when you had these middle aged men in the 90s and 00s who were like "That fake wrasslin? We don't want it." And that was that.

Still amazes me as I'm watching the AE shows that UPN who also censored many things being said on WWF TV, was the best deal they could get for one of the hottest shows on TV.

Having TNT/TBS and FOX carrying wrestling today is huge, and here in Canada, this is the first time since the early 00s where all major Canadian sports networks are carrying wrestling.

I hope all this continues to grow. Its about time people finally embrace wrestling for what it is, rather than make fun of it for what it's not.

Right, unless you are an investor with WWE, FOX, NBC/Universal or TNT/Warner Bros. then ratings and demographics shouldn't matter to the average fan.

Yet, here we are incessantly mentioning ratings/demographics as if we have stock in these companies (and I'm guilty of perpetuating this behavior too).

I care in sofar as that they are doing well enough that it's easy to find on tv. The incessant comparisons between companies meant to belittle one are just incredibly boring to me though.

Interesting thing I thought of regarding Flair.

What if AEWs plan is to bring in Flair in October, ahead of NBA starting up. Having Ric Flair appearing on Inside the NBA to help promote AEW would obviously be huge for them.

This is surprising and huge news.

Looks like Owens legacy will finally get to be honoured. A nice way to do so for him and all the fans, without getting WWE involved.

I'm sure it will also be extra special not just for the AEW talent, but specifically the ones who knew him, like Jericho, Christian, Mark Henry, Hardy, JR and others.

I hope Bret is involved in this too. And I wonder who wins that first ever tournament. Could it be someone like Pillman Jr?
