Yeah, I think he's wrong. '96 wasn't just a "Flashpoint" in wrestling; it sparked a whole new Era. That moment changed wrestling.

Unless Punk/BD lead an era that gets wrestlers back into the main stream (TV guide, chef boyardee commercials, etc) then nah, this isn't on the same planet as Bash at the Beach.

I think people don't quite get how much he hated wrestling, and for TK to sign him, it's legitimately one of the biggest moments in pro wrestling history. Plus it being their largest attendance to date. It was a big night.
We’re aware. He’s not exactly known for being a guy who’s quiet when he doesn’t like something.

Man, stop it. The comeback was cool and an incredible moment but the aura has already wore off. Neither Rampage or Dynamite is must-see TV now that the dust has settled. I'm not saying the product is bad because it isn't but the Monday Night Wars was can't-miss TV...2020's wrestling is not.

Soooo I watched Rhodes to the Top because I can’t help myself. Cody comes off as pretty funny and likable. Brandi……………….my mom taught me not to say mean things about other people.

By no means am I saying it's as big of a deal as Bash at the Beach, which I really don't remember, since I was 5 then. But in terms of history when we're talking 25 years from now, like we are Bash at the Beach, All In and Punk's debut will be two really big milestones in pro wrestling history.

CM Punk's return isn't as big as Hogan turning heel though. Now if it were Austin and he joined AEW....that would have been a bigger deal.

I would say his return is more comparable to Lesnar coming back in 2012

I think someone said this earlier, but to me Nash and Hall coming in the way they did was as big, if not bigger, than Hogan turning heel. Hogan joining the WCW just added an older veteran to the mix. His in-ring and star power had faded a bit after being in WCW for 2 years already. It's hard to overestimate that fact as someone who lived through all of it. I don't CM Punk isn't on the radar of any of that tho.

I don't think you can seperate Hogan turning heel and Nash/Hall joining. I don't think either is as big as the other. That was just a perfect storm. Definitely agree that Hogan wasn't the Hogan of the 80s, but him being the Hogan of the 80s at one point is what brought a lot of fans back when they saw him as a bad guy.

And agreed that Punk showing up is nowhere near on that radar. As big as Punk has been in wrestling, he can't hold a candle to what Hogan meant to wrestling or his star power outside of the ring.

The only thing that could possibly be on par with Hogan is if Cena comes back to wrestling, shows up in AEW, as a mega heel and leads them past WWE in the ratings.

Cena going to AEW would be way crazier than Hogan in WCW honestly. Cena's been at WWE since around 2002. Hogan's run with WWF was like 10 years. Crazy to think that there's only an 11 year gap between Hogan beating Sheik for the title and him turning heel in WCW. Those seem like they are from different lifetimes or something.

Everything that happened from 83/84-2000 feels like there were lifetimes in between each generation. And everything from 2005-present feels like one single generation to me. I know that’s mostly the difference between a child and adults eyes and perspective of time. But it still blows me away when I go back and realize what a short period of time there was in between major events back then.

I'd say probably more like 2009 to present, not 2005.

05-08 still has its share of change/evolution.

The format for WWE the last 10+ years does feel the same, minus a "fresh coat of paint" each year (with new logos, sets, themes) and different faces.
