Seeing what they did for their last show in some concert venue, I think they could manage some "spring break" show. Maybe that could be one of their free PPVs.

I’m sure they’ll do a show from the Jericho Cruise

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Newest member of AEW roster, Jazz.
I always felt she was one of the underappreciated women during the RA era. Sure she didn't last so long, but I'd put her in the same category as Victoria,Molly,Mickie and so on.
Would TNT want a taped show though? Or might they make the taped cruise show a free ppv?Last edited by Majingir; 08-07-2019, 08:44 PM.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
But I wonder if AEW is gonna be a show simply focusing on wrestling.
The part I used to love about wwe so much was all the characters and storylines. Raw every week would end in some segment which had a big moment and cliffhanger.
I guess AEW will focus more on the matchups and wrestling over the storylines and promos?Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
So Jericho's going to work the opening night against Elite then he's defending the belt week 3 against an unnamed challenger.
*Note I fully expect AEW to stupidly put the belt on Hangman because of everyone saying it's going to be Jericho.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
But then what happens to the ratings on the shows where they don't have a PPV main event level match (or matches)? This is one of the reasons why pretty much no one on WWE feels special. People see them wrestle every single week. And AEW is the same as WWE in that their live weekly TV shows are the priority over PPVs.
Maybe I'll just stick with NJPW and the indies lol. Idk.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
I was going to say they spoiled their own show by announcing this title match for TV. Your in front of a national audience now on TNT, who are people going to know more, Hangman Page or Chris Jericho? Jericho is winning the title at All Out since that will draw in fans because of his name. Wouldn't mind it being Hangman down the line but for TV ratings, Jericho is going to be the first AEW Wold Champion.Comment

Having good storylines is key too. Guys dont need to be in matches every week, but if we see promos and segments in the non wrestling weeks, that'll help build things.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Do you guys think it is good for them to run these smaller venues or should they have tried to sell out The TD Garden or Wells Fargo Center? AEW said they sold out for their TV dates in Philly and Boston but people believe it's only due to them running smaller arenas which makes it easier for them to tout sell outs. For comparison, I looked at WCW Monday Nitro's first several arenas and by the third episode WCW was running in arenas that did 20,000 capacity.
1st Episode - Mall of America
2nd Episode - Knight International (About 5,000 Max)
3rd Episode - Freedom Hall (19,200 Capacity for Concerts; 18,000 for Basketball)
Apparently on Monday's BTE, two more cities will be announced for AEW TV.Last edited by UFCMPunk; 08-16-2019, 07:49 PM.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Selling out shows is never a bad look, regardless of the venue size. We know that, by comparison, Vince would rather run a big building and sell half the tickets. How big is AEW's fanbase really? What happened to NJPW in Dallas was a bit sobering. I would probably do exactly what AEW is doing by playing it safer at the beginning.Comment
