What? The guy is gold. Literally got a stupid saying trending. Match wasn't terrible.

I don't like Cody even booking himself for the title match, let alone winning it.

It's a slippery slope they'd be going down if all the big wigs win all the titles. (Yes, I know Omega is on a losing streak) I would assume he will lose and Jericho will either face Moxley or Omega, probably Moxley. I can't see Cody booking himself to win the title so soon.

I'd think he's smarter than that.

Yea I thought this at first too, the Elite shouldn't get titles this early. Then I saw the weekend Jericho had, including a bad match at best and him getting the title stolen from him. So I just want the title off him ASAP and Cody's the next the guy up.

Cody does have the best W/L record so far, so this also does make sense with these mattering in this company. Some continuity.

I dont have a problem with the Jericho match.

And once the tv shows come on and Jericho is the one doing the promos, I'm sure people won't mind him as much as champ. Current talent might be more athletic than he is, but how many could cut promos like him?

As the champ, he doesn't need to be wrestling all the time, and the better he is at promos vs everyone else, the less need to have him in the ring week after week.

Yea I’ll just have him fight at PPV’s. He’s a heel (I think) so he can just cut promos week after week instead of having a tag team match “playa”

I think it’s hilarious that AEW is going to debut On TV with a Champ From an era when TNT last had a wrestling show...

As much Hype as Omega have been getting in the last few years but the Internet, I would have thought he would be champ now. But nope he’s on a losing streak. If this was WWE with Omega on a losing streak and a old timer as champ people would be outraged lol.

The fans want a Little Bit of the Bubbly. Chris Jericho's "A Little Bit of The Bubbly" Shirt was the highest selling t-shirt in a 24 hour period for Pro Wrestling Tees.

Something I've been thinking. If theres talent in wwe who want to leave but aren't allowed to(Harper...), what's stopping them from showing up in attendance at an AEW show? Does that breach their contract? They're not part of the show or under any AEW deal, they simply bought a ticket same as all the other fans.

Not the same situation, but I remember how impact showed a wwe superstar in attendance many years back and I believe that eventually led to them being fired.

Well Sable did it in 1999 and WCW had to apologize profusely and agree that she wouldn’t be on tv again like that. And it probably cost a couple bucks as well.

Yeah, the Highlanders lol. That was a mistake, but being fired was harsh. But that was when WWE felt zero pressure, and wouldn't think twice about releasing someone. Now it's the other way around and the wrestlers have leverage, which is nice for a change.

They weren't valued highly in wwe anyways. They're the viking raiders of the 00s lol.

I remember when wwe used to have specific points of the year where a bunch of people were fired. They'd just get released in waves.

It's a breach of their contract and WWE could take them to court over it, that's why. So if you wanna be the guinea pig for the whole "is a wrestler under an exclusive contract an independent contractor" aka unionization court case you can gladly show up at another taped show. Now that's going to cost you millions of dollars in lawyers fees also it may hinder your chances to get booked any in wrestling because of backstage politics.

WCW was asking for trouble, I remember them panning the camera on her and Bischoff saying something along the lines of “look who’s here”
