Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Kenny Omega when asked about AEW vs NXT....
"Let's pretend there were no promotions. Let's just pretend there's just one big promotion. If these guys were in the same show as me, they'd be in the dark match. They'd be in the opening match of my main event match."
"You're going to see real stars. Not developmental talent but real stars appearing on your television sets, every week."
Isn't this the same type of stuff Seth Rollins (towards Will Ospreay) was being lambasted for a few months ago?
I want to see Cody, Kenny and AEW succeed but they need to realize they are fledgling, new promotion and WWE (including NXT) is an empire. NXT hasn't been a "developmental territory" since Balor and Joe signed, TBH.
And AEW are the same bunch of guys saying they "didn't want a war, but to be an alternative" but now are sounding like they want the smoke.
Just sounds like everytime someone is quoted they speak out of both sides of their mouth ("we won't overwork our talent and three hours is lame, but we'll use B/R Live for extra content and to get everyone exposure" ) and will be booked/promoted/distributed in a model similar to WWE (pre - WWE Network). The in - ring action might be different, yet the business model seems (to me) like it'll be the same old, same old.

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Matt & Nick chimed in on Wednesday's NXT and had this to say......
Alex McCarthy @AlexM_talkSPORT 5h
The Young Bucks told me they did watch NXT.
Nick: "It was a fun show. But 10 weeks from now, those fans might get tired. It happened with IMPACT [doing a show from the same studio].
Matt: "I'm rooting for them, I want them to have a good show. Ours is just going to be better."
I really don't think Kenny, Bucks, and Cody know what they got themselves into. In hindsight I love their confidence in AEW and it doing well against NXT. Just they come off as arrogant in their responses. Kenny says NXT has developmental talent and AEW has stars, I hate to break it to you Kenny but AEW has developmental talent, NXT has Stars.Last edited by UFCMPunk; 09-20-2019, 07:10 PM.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
The 'Ten weeks' part is the only stupid part of that comment. But I wouldn't be shocked if by Mania weekend that the crowd isn't what has been for the last 5 years. There's a huge difference in going to 15-20 tapings (once, maybe twice a month) a year to 50-52 tapings (almost every week) a year. Especially where the studio only holds 400 people, and the attendees at the shows are mostly local to the area. It's definitely something to keep an eye on going forward.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
That’s true but this is going to be a big change going from one long night of tv tapings per month to a two hour show per weekComment

I wonder what the AE would've been like with social media..... can't imagine the scrutiny The Rock would've gotten when he mocked former WWE stars catchphrases during a promo......

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
That's the only part of what they said that stood out to me. The rest is generic promoting themselves, which I would just expect them to do.Comment

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
Maybe we should just watch the show for a while before deciding what AEW should say or do.
For years we clamored for someone to give WWE legit competition. We are close to having that now with AEW, but yet, wrestling fans can't help themselves and already are looking for things to be mad and complain about.
It's like some people want AEW to trip and fall out of the starting block, and I don't get that at all.Currently Playing:

Re: AEW Discussion Thread
AEW Dynamite is the best they could come with? Sounds way too close to Nitro and they are trying to be like WCW than their own company. I mean they already are using the Eric Bischoff playbook of mentioning your competition way too mucb rather focus on their own show.Comment

They could call it AEW Chickenf****rs and the people that want to watch non WWE wrestling will still watch. The name of the show is irrelevantComment
