    Re: AEW Off-Topic

Not gonna get it. I'm enjoying Dynamite for what it is, and I'm sure the PPV will be fine, but I'm not feeling the product enough to drop $50. I'm the mode of ...there are things I like in AEW, but hearing Alvarez/Meltzer give every spot fest match 5 stars and applause constantly is tiresome. Not all those matches are great just because athleticism, delayed sell, fire up, rinse repeat.

They're going to try to cram everything and everyone onto that show. Trios match finals is probably the only thing I really want to see, just to see what happens between Omega and Cole. Jericho/Danielson will be good. I don't think the other feuds will get enough time.

Do you never go to live events then? The theater option is fun because you can meet other people like yourself. I've seen a few of the same dudes everytime I go and it's cool to shoot the **** with real people for a few hours

I thought Cole and O'Reilly aren't medically cleared, so The Undisputed haven't been participating? Or do you mean after the finals and leading into the next Dynamite?

Yeah, I'm an idiot. Shows how closely I've been following that bracket I guess. I'm guessing the final will be Omega/Bucks vs Dark Order? So maybe the Adam Page story will be the angle there. Or it'll just be a match. Idk. Basically I'm interested in whatever Omega is going to be involved with going forward.

I don't really think the two events are comparable from an experience expectation, much in the same way seeing a play on broadway is a much different experience than seeing a version of it in a movie theatre. I generally do not mind other wrestling fans, but prefer a more controlled environment if I am not experiencing the wrestling live.

Truthfully, I'm beholden to whatever my group of friends wants to do, but they seem to like the at-my-house experience more than any other. (Enough so that a few just popped on over when AEW was in town instead of just going to the event)

Why do you look at them? I have the names of most wrestling dirt sheet guys even just muted on twitter, i also just don't really engage with wrestling on twitter cause jeeeeeeeeeesus people hate wrestling there. Anyway, I always hear vitriol spewed towards those guys, and I have no idea why so many people who don't like or respect them engage with them or let it make them angry.

I mostly enjoy their content. When Meltzer does deep dives on historical topics it's great. And when I listen to their reviews I generally agree. I just think they can be predictable with their praise of certain types of matches. They tend to rate 95% of AEW matches as awesome, even when they are throwaway spotfest matches with zero story or actual consequence. And then they will bury a WWE match for not making any sense. And lately I haven't been listening to them because it's been all backstage stuff that I don't care about.

That's fair, there is not a ton of great historical content out there. I got sick of Meltzer back on other wrestling forums, I still sometimes check his ratings because I know what I like vs what Dave likes and can sometimes find a match I enjoy that I wouldn't have otherwise watched.

That's my thing with Jim Cornette. When it comes to his views on today's wrestling, I take it with a grain of salt. Now when he goes into his deep dives on historical topics or discusses mid-90s WWF, it's fascinating to listen to (till he then starts diving into political issues and then I turn him off).

Didn’t they say that a huge point of that “all hands on deck” meeting Kahn has was to stop leaking stuff to the dirt sheets.

So either no one cares or…..and hear me out…..fake wrestling journalists just continually make crap up [emoji15]

                            Both could be true.

I also don't get how it's so hard to stop leaks. Have NDAs as part of people's contracts, both talent and just backstage workers/producers and so on too, not AEW specific, WWE too.

Sounds like Bobby Fish’s contract will not be renewed. While Cole and KOR both signed five year deals, Bobby signed a one year deal.

He also confirmed he had backstage heat with FTR.

That makes sense for actual business info, but is waaaaay overboard for the high school drama that gets leaked and made into news.
