Hopefully the title match is good because the buildup has been just OK. Just deliver on the in ring.

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
Not sure how far people are going with the praise, but that really is a byproduct of the modern wrestling fan.
Eat someone up, praise them, then tear them down when they're "overbooked" or "pushed in our face."
(By the way, I'm guilty of it with Charlotte Flair.)
The AEW fanbase has been very "cultish" or "tribalistic" with their fandom - which really is annoying - but so has the company as a whole.
Like I've said about other aspects of the company, it'll be interesting how that shifts if (big if it seems) they break that glass ceiling and garner a mainstream audience.

He did look pretty good, but has a lot of things to work on.

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
Listening to clips of Wrestler Observer shows was where I heard it from. One of Bryan Alvarez's co-hosts said that he's tall and strong. Tall? For some reason that was the last straw lol. Then again these are the folks who two years ago were saying Jungle Boy was gonna be a huge star. Which, no disrespect to him, is not really happening.
I totally agree with you on Jungle Boy, his lame "gimmick" (never explaining why he's a "jungle boy") and the charisma vacuum that he is.
Man, that is a ridiculous comment to make about Hook being tall or strong. Compared to Fuego Del Jobber everyone on the AEW roster (minus Marko Stunt) looks "tall and strong."
Out of the "four pillars" (such a corny distinction, BTW) only MJF and maybe Guevara have crossover potential. I think Allin can be a cult hero that eventually gets over cause he's crazy, but him & JB can't cut a promo for ****.

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
I don't see any of them being a crossover star. But to be fair I don't see anyone in wrestling today doing that. We are not in a hot era of pro wrestling. TV rights fees are through the roof, but the mainstream appeal ain't there.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
I don't much get the Hook stuff either, minus him being Tazz's son, and me rooting for everything Tazz-related, because part of me is still stuck in 1998 and I believe Tazz is the greatest thing ever.
That said, only person to outsell CM Punk on PWT shows the people are behind him with their wallets too.
Also with ratings generally being a farce, ticket sales still being hindered by *gestures at world* is merch sales really the only way to tell who is/could be a star in the eyes of the people?Support Local Sports

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
I do hope they go the entire 30 minutes or close.

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
Maybe they go the whole hour lol.
Title matches have a 60 minute time limit.

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
I figured this would go first because they generally have the longest commercial free time, and putting Danielson on close-to-commercial free tv has seemingly been a priority for Tony. He's been booking the opener like a co-main event and I personally like it.Support Local Sports

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
entire 30 minutes of what? if you're speaking of the match time limit, I'm pretty sure it's 60 minutes, just fyi.

Still, this match should've taken up the entire second hour.

AEW Dynamite Thread
Does it really make that big a difference?
You put this match first that way you don’t run the risk of the undercard running over.
