WWE RAW & Smackdown August Thread

We have made it to August in what has been a strange year. We are now on the road to Summerslam, wherever that might be happening. A boat? The PC? Beach?

On RAW, Randy Orton looks to dethrone Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship, The Fiend has returned on Smackdown, and of course The Golden Role Models run both shows.

    RAW Preview for August 3rd:

    - WWE has announced that Apollo Crews returns to take on MVP to determine who the real US Champion is. It will open the show.

    - Will Asuka be out for revenge after what Bayley did to Kairi causing her to lose the RAW Women's Championship?

    - WWE put this on Twitter so this isn't a spoiler. WWE announced a major return. THE BEST IN THE WOOOOOOOOOOORLD.. SHANE MCMAHON returns to Monday Night RAW after a year long absence since losing to Kevin Owens on Smackdown in a Ladder Match.

Appearances like one offs are what suits the McMahons the best.

Even today if Vince were to suddenly be on Raw or SD, you'd know to be excited because it doesn't happen often and most of the time it's for a big reason.

That's what I was hoping would've happened with Steph/Shane when they were the owners or gm or whatever they called that position.

Got repetitive seeing Shane week after week with the same things happening, but seeing him back again tonight has me excited. Given the SS rumors, makes me wonder if we will get an announcement from him on the SS plans.

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown August Thread

Major news announced by WWE for tonight.

A new faction will be debuting! Who's in the faction? We don't know. Could it be Undisputed Era moving to Raw? A group of NXT guys never together before suddenly joining up? Some guys on Raw roster joining up?

Does Shane appearing have anything to do with that? Imagine that impact if Shane comes out, makes the SS announcement to end Raw, only for lights to get cut, guys storm the ring and take him out (not starting a feud with him, just guys making a statement).

And could the stable have any females on it? We've seen multiple teams come in with a female on it and the female ends up being the biggest name. Happened with Carmella, Alexa, Cross, and years back Natalya.

WTF?! RAW "Underground?!" Is this gonna be Brawl 4 All for the year 2020?

The "new" faction debuting & RAW Underground could be a huge spark or complete garbage.

          *Owens gets a water backstage*

          IIconics: You Hoo!
Owens: Did you just say You Hoo?
          IIconics: Yes. You Hoo!

McIntyre and Orton segment was great. McIntyre asks Orton how many guys Orton has ever helped, and Orton just holds up a giant 0.

Raw Underground? So it's basically what happens when you break the rules and talk about fight club?

As for the new faction, was that it? The ninjas or someone like them just throwing something at the equipment outside to set it on fire?

That was meant to be a generator they were throwing the molotov cocktails at.

Good episode of RAW. I'm intrigued by the RAW Underground stuff (minus the "Go-Go" Dancers), Dominik's segment with Rollins (plus the tease of Joe returning to the ring), the McIntyre/Orton promo & nearly everything else was solid.

Seems they are going away from teasing a heel turn with Crews & where the heck was Mustafa Ali at?

Vince still needs to do a better job of finding television time for talent. That is still my biggest grip & the overly scripted promos. Yet, everyone felt a lot more "natural" on the mic than I can remember in a really, really long time. Ruby even said bull**** on the first hour, so maybe he's going to finally, finally give them more freedom on the mic.

This week did feel like everyone was just told to say whatever. Don't think there was a single thing that sounded overly scripted.

I wonder if the rumors of Evolution returning (as in the all women's PPV) could be true. This show alone we got IIconics,Riott Squad, Golden Role Models, Baszler, Bianca and Zelina. All of them doing something feud related.

The Underground segment felt so damn forced lol. They are not the promotion that's capable of delivering on that concept. I'd say making the product look more like a bad movie is not the move to make.

Heard they taped two episodes today. Tonight's and next week.

It was said to be absolute chaos trying to write tonight's show. Multiple scripts torn up, Vince yelling and screaming at everyone. They had to switch segments around and scrap some stuff.

Of course this is just from a source so take it with a grain of salt. Although it's not hard to believe.

I guess Vince has been the worst he's ever been through all of this. The dude is gonna have a widow maker heart attack and survive it and come back and tell Bruce " You're FIRED,"

Raw was actually intriguing tonight, so if that's what it takes to put on a compelling show, I'm OK with it.

Underground stuff. Eh. Too many camera cuts. And Shane should not talk so much.

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown August Thread

Well this week's RAW sure got me going "wow." Main highlight of the night had to be that McIntrye/Orton promo. Both guys got to go off script with McIntrye mentioning how both guys were the chosen ones back in the mid 2000's but failed to be that guy. But luckily for Orton, his father was Cowboy Bob Orton and McIntrye ended up getting fired. Nice start to this feud.

Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan are back together during that KO Show segment and defeated the IIconics for revenge. Does this mean a tag team Title run for them once Sasha and Bayley are done with them? Would love to see that. Speaking of those two, they were in two segments. That Sasha/Bazler match up was fine for what it was. The company is trying to protect Bazler so the match finished in a no contest. Asuka was involved here too and looks like she finally will have character development. Nia Jax is suspended for attacking that WWE producer. Sure. Too bad Kairi Sane never got revenge against her. Loved the Street Profits promo before their solo matches against Garza and Andrade. But poor Montez got poisoned with something. Dominik continues to be featured and will get his match against Seth Rollins at Summerslam. Nice. Lastly, the Hurt Business was all over the show but everything made sense for their screen time. MVP lost the US Title, Shelton Benjamin lost the 24/7 Title so they all crash the RAW Underground set. And they looked badass destroying all the fighters in that set. While wearing a suit too. This is now the Hurt Business. And they are in charge of RAW Underground now. Loved how Lashley looked here. Making me forget about his awful booking for the past year or so. Nice way to end the show.

Would love to see the 24/7 title end up in raw underground.

Vince Russo is somewhere having a gasm.
