Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread

Great promo from The Rock for sure. That was a heel rock and definitely the Hollywood Rock persona we saw. I liked his vest as it was clearly a mixture of his old expensive shirts and his vest. I did noticed he threw up a different sign though. No clue what that was about. But yeah, we used to complain about seeing the same old stuff on this show. But what we are seeing right now is new and fresh so I'm excited to see where this goes. Still hope for Cody to finish the story.

What was also fresh was Logan Paul's debut free television match. And it was a solid one against The Miz as he won to advance into the Elimination Chamber match. Logan Paul has shown that he really belongs in this company. He has made me forget that he used to be a Youtube content creator. Tiffany Stratton's Moonsault is beautiful. Good match she has against Zelina Vega. And I'm glad what they are doing with Shinsuke's promos, they did with Damage Control in that effective backstage promo.

Especially with the double taping (and 2nd show probably not revealing much), it really makes me wonder what's happening with Rollins.

You'd assume as soon as EC is over that Rollins is going to go straight into a feud with whoever wins it (most likely McIntyre), so how does he even factor into this Rock/Reigns stuff if all he's doing between that press conference and EC is a promo with Cody on Raw and then a talk show segment at EC...

I took it as generic ‘heel downplaying a face’s success’ stuff, especially when he also said we had Rock vs Reigns and gave it up to finish Cody’s story. So it was all part of a cocky “we gave up my match for this?”

That might also just be me spinning it in my own head to make it make sense. I don’t know.

The logic was really... like what?

But I did see many people bringing that up. Of course The Rock is downplaying Cody winning the Rumble to get another shot. He has tried to manipulate Cody to get this match, it worked... until it didn't. The millions and MILLIONS wanted Cody more.

So, The Rock is now after the millions and Cody, and is going to **** on them any way he can.

No it made sense to me too. “Want” and “Earn” are the same thing in this instance. Cody has a choice and wants to face Roman instead of Rollins. Rock is basically saying Cody isn’t a big enough deal and to stay in his line. Fight for Seth’s “workman” title and don’t get in the way of his Megamatch.

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread

I think it's a lot like the Brock - Cody feud and fans wanting every little thing spelled out for them (or at least the IWC).

The inability or unwillingness to read subtext or nuance in wrestling fans is startling.

The Rock is a 'glory hog' and wants to step on someone else's moment like he supposedly did 10 or 11 years ago. He manipulated Cody into taking on Seth, paving the way for Rock - Roman, but Cody (and the audience) had second thoughts, so here we are.

He doesn't give a damn that Cody won the Rumble and 'earned/wants' a rematch, what him and Roman want supersedes his 'desires/story.'

Anyway, I think - whether it was all planned or a pivot in a better direction - this all greatly benefits everyone involved.

It gives Cody - Roman II a different dynamic than last year, it more naturally sets up an inevitable Rock - Roman clash and makes everything feel more 'chaotic.'

Too late, I've already booked The Rock reforming the NOD to take down The Bloodline by any means necessary.

What if I told you, I've already fantasy booked how I would do it, and set up Heel Rock vs Face Roman lol.

Watching last night's Smackdown episode and I gotta say, again, that I really enjoy Corey Graves doing play-by-play.

He just has a great voice and understands the modern WWE product better than most.

I'd be perfectly fine with this current commentary teams sticking around for years.

Graves and Wade and Cole and McAfee is probably the first time I've enjoyed BOTH commentary teams at the same time this much since JR/King and Cole (with Tazz, JBL or Booker in the 00s)

Oh, and Isla Dawn is a babe. I hope Triple H can give figure out how to get her and Alba more TV/mic time.

The tag TITLE scene for men's and women's titles seems real lacking despite a high number of notable teams.

You could easily do an elimination Chamber for men's tag titles this year with the number of teams.

Women's tag titles could definitely have a multi team battle too.

I'm not sure if WWE pivoted from Rock/Roman or had planned this all along. But I will say it's been well done so far since the initial segment with Rock, Cody and Roman.

They’ve gotta do something about the gimmick. They have the spooky witch promos but then in the arena is just…generic entrance, generic wrestling.

Maybe do some 90s Papa Shango **** and really oversell it. It’d be outdated but maybe nostalgic enough to be entertaining.

Awesome Truth vs Judgment Day scheduled for Raw tomorrow.

I'm fully expecting Truth to make their team come out to the DX theme.
