Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread

Anyone else feel like Gunther is afraid to go all-in as a heel and is just dipping his toes into the kiddie pool?
The smug fake respect angle isn't really working for him. You stand opposite Bret Hart in Calgary, forget the "with all due respect you're number #2 to Goldberg" just go all in and say you'd beat his crippledass worse than Goldberg did. Gunther had massive heat giftwrapped for him and he blew it.

I hate it because he's nailed the aesthetic perfectly. Loafers in a wrestling ring? Thats beautiful

Liv Morgan brings it every week. She's been killing it.

Don't think I've ever laughed at a more unexpected line than that.

I fully just expected him to say HBK.

I was just wanting Bret to call Gunther a damn hyena

That's how you do a legends segment. You don't bitch him out, you don't make back down or seem like some frail helpless dude. Total respect for the fans and viewers on that one. I appreciated it.

Magnificent episode of Raw, especially the first two hours.

And absolute Bravo to the WWE and Jackie Redmond for their Johnny Gaudreau tribute segment. And Sami for wearing his jersey.

And I'm left wondering how amazing a prime Gunther/Bret feud would have been.

Absolutely love a move to 2 hours. Should have never gone to 3.

I feel the same way about the Wyatts. I thought how weird it is that a group like this is faces. It different. The question is always gonna be what do you do with them after. 3 months 6 months 2 years down the line.

And yes, Isla Dawn butt. Absolutely top.

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread

Decent episode of RAW this week. Being in Calgary, having a Bret Hart appearance was nice which it was. He didn't get to say or do much, but his involvement in the Gunther/Zayn program made sense and helped to advance this storyline. Gunther had the line of the night telling Bret Hart that Bill Goldberg was his favorite wrestler growing up.

I noticed that the company was trying to build Judgment Day back up. Their booking has made them look weak lately so throughout the whole night, they were made to look strong. Finn Balor had a nice promo as it was needed to help make him look like a threat again when he was made looking like a sidekick during Priest's World Title run. As he said in his promo, he is not a sidekick. Priest did well in his promo as well. Dominik defeating Dragon Lee with the help of Liv Morgan made sense. And who is the right guy to help put over a heel who needs it? Rey Misterio. Thats right. He put over Finn Balor in their match as Balor needs it more than ever right now. Drew McIntyre had another solid segment too. His feud with CM Punk will hopefully end after their match at Bad Blood. But him calling out Wade Barrett got me wondering if Barrett is going to come back and wrestle. I thought he was retired? I have no issues with the women's stuff too. Its there to progress stuff. Solid matches on the show with the Wyatt Sicks/American Made and the Fatal Four Way match. I dont know which one was the best match of the night. Both were good. Main Event Jey Uso is still over. He's the right choice to challenge Bron Breakker next.

Really hope Hell in a Cell is done justice by Punk and Drew. The one time in a while where the feud is dictating the proper match type.

Kinda didn't like Barrett being called out by Drew. I quite liked Barrett being unabashedly supportive of Drew.

The street fight to lead off the show was incredible. Great performance by all.

Its hard enough doing it for one wrestler with supernatural elements, but keeping an entire stable with supernatural elements fresh?

If a member of the Wyatt Sick6 I'm thinking 6 months from now my resume needs to be up to date.

Rowan being a monster that woke up was amazing.

And 100% agree that HIAC fits this rivalry and I think these 2 could pull it off.

I think I lean more towards liking this more shades of grey commentary with Barrett, and I'm definitely more of an old school rasslin' fan. It did often give me cartoonish vibes with an always heel commentator. Like Drew could literally attempt to murder Punk and the old school approach would be the heel commentator cheering it on. That said I do think they can have the line a little further back than what it was with Drew's attack on Punk.

It's more for Drew to get heat.

If that's how he's talking to his own friends, how can anyone like him?

But I don't see Barrett's commentary changing much anyways since that was the whole point of what Drew said (calling out Barrett for a single action he did).

The HIAC match should be real good. It's only the 3rd HIAC match in the post Vince era, but this one I could see blood in it, whether it be real or fake. This has Hangman-Swerve in a cage level bad blood (no pun intended), not that I think it'll end as extreme/graphic as that, but it could be violent.

So after the obvious "surprise" of Natalya on RAW, Randy Orton has to be the mystery partner for KO tomorrow.... right? Honestly if they are going to do the whole OG Bloodline vs New Bloodline, then his partner needs to be Sami Zayn so we can start planting the seeds further with that.

Triple H has announced that the WWE Championship Steel Cage Match will kickoff Smackdown tomorrow night. He says aa for the rest of the show, we'll have to wait and see.

I’m really interested to see where this show is going if they’re opening with the cage match.

USA is even worse than Fox with killing the audio so far
