Oh I understand, I used this program called Firebug that let's you edit webpages. I just went to the Mets top prospects in real life, and then I just edited a few players and a few pictures to add the new prospects. If you want to learn how to use it just shoot me a PM.

Josh Rudd is just sitting there reading the box scores after a 6-3 loss to the Braves. He takes a slip of coffee, and then hears the phone ringing. He quickly picks it up, but it's some guy named Andrew Clash. He picks it up anyways.

Hello, is Mr. Rudd there?

Yes present sir. May I ask though, who is this, and why are you calling?

You don't remember me? We went to high school together, and played baseball together. We made it to state... and then we where college roommates. I got drafted by the Padres, but I had to retire, because I had a broken shoulder. I never recovered from it. After that I served as a scout for the Chicago Cubs.

Rudd Thinks to himself for about half a minute. Then he remembers Clash.

Good ol Andrew Clash! How's it going man? I haven't talked to you in years. Are you still a scout with the Cubs?

No sir, Theo threw me off, when I told him to draft Mark Appel. That (censured) didn't think he would amount to anything.

I would be more than welcome to have you join the Mets. Maybe you could help me with the team a little. I could always use another guy.

That would be great. I'll serve more of a scout role, and try to help you open your options for trades and other things. How does that sound? I could be your secondary man.

After about five minutes of talk they both hang up. Josh Rudd couldn't help but smile, his old friend is now scouting and working for him. He thinks to himself, this could be a really fun time with the Mets.

Josh Rudd and Andrew Clash are sitting there with a few scouts after the Met's 3-6 start. It's early in the morning, and the discussion is just getting started.

Well it looks like this is going to be a long season. We're not in a position to win anything right now, and the Phillies just rolled over us yesterday.

Andrew, we're probably looking at 2-3 more years before we're going to be a competitive team. When I took over this team we didn't have a lot of very nice parts, so we traded Dickey and Wright.

I know. We're going to concentrate on drafting and bringing in IFAs if we want to make this team good. Look at our division for crying out loud! Strasburg and Harper are in Washington! The Phillies still have a good rotation! And the Braves are still respectable!

The Marlins are still in our division though.

Everyone takes a good 3 minute laugh. Then Rudd speaks again.

We need to find sometime big. The next… I don't know… the next big prospect.

We already got tons of good studs. We have Hultzen, Wheeler, D'Arnaud... we got a good start in the farm

I heard about this kid named Jose Pujols. He has pretty good promise. Drew, go scout this kid, and tell me how he is. He's taking batting practice on the other side of New York today.

If his last name is Pujols, he's bound to be a good player. I'll check him out today.

Yeah, I got it right here. This kid can sure hit, he put on a clinic in the cages. He has potential to be one of our best prospects.

Some think Pujols’ biggest issue is his belief that he has to hit every ball out of the park and the mixed results that come with the all-or-nothing approach. At times, he shows plus-plus power along with natural throwing and running abilities that would make him among the top prospects on the international market, but there is a concern that he might not make enough contact to stay in a lineup on a regular basis. If he can develop some contact, we could be looking at a potential all-star here.

Pujols’ natural abilities make him attractive to scouts, and he could pay dividends once he receives regular instruction in a Major League farm system. Strong performances in Florida and Arizona for the Dominican Prospect League All-Star travel squad during Spring Training have some scouts believing that Pujols is starting to put his game together.

Drew said something about you going to one of his games. Any chance you did that? How did he look? Is he a natural leader?

This guy makes everyone better, and could probably play center field, because he's such a leader. I really think this guy could be a answer for us in the future.

The scouting report says he goes for a lot of all-or-nothing power. That could be a concern, but I do think if that's his biggest issue, a hitting coach could fix that. Just give him some more time in the minors, and have him hit for contact more.

He tries to pull a lot of pitches, which could be a concern, but in my opinion he can work through it. I talked with him after the game, and he says he's working on it. He also says he would love to be with New York, and says he has such a great opportunity to play here. I've been to 3-4 games of his now, and he does better every game. He's developing a very sweet swing for all fields.

What is he hitting on his travel team?

One second... I have his stats on my computer.

Andrew Clash turns on his computer, and in 3-4 minutes he pulls up his page of all his stats. He quickly pulls up Jose Pujol's stats.

Pujols is hitting .405 with 14 homeruns and 45 RBIs in 54 games with his travel team. I think they're pretty deep in their season, and they only play 60 something games.

Let's go to my office and place a bid on this kid. He sounds like the real deal to me, and even if he doesn't develop he could always be a quality role player with his leadership.

Rudd is now on the computer, composing a email to send to Commissioner Bud Selig to bid on Jose Pujols.

I think we shouldn't go any higher than bidding 20 million on him. I haven't heard a lot of buzz on him, because most teams don't think he'll pan out. I think this guy is the guy we need. And hell, if he don't win the bidding we always get our money back, and can spend it on something else

That sounds good, our franchise wouldn't fold on spending 20 million. We have 65 million available to play with, so this couldn't hurt us even if we win. If we lose we could always spend it on Jason Bay

Both men laugh as Rudd sends the email to Selig. The bidding will close in about 5-6 hours, so Rudd will get results soon. Right now he's just going to hang tight, and enjoy the Met's sweep over the Braves.

Scouting Report : Cabrera has dazzled scouts with his bat speed, hitting mechanics and raw power, but he has also opened eyes with his instincts on the bases. In other words, he can run, too. His all-around speed combined with his aggressive style, strong arm and athletic body have brought about comparisons to Arizona outfielder Justin Upton when he was the same age.

Cabrera’s prior experience in the United States could prove to be an advantage in his development. Last year, he was named the MVP at the 2011 RBI World Series in Minnesota and also participated in a showcase in Orlando with his trainer. This year, he starred in the Dominican Prospect League and was part of the league’s All-Star travel squad that played exhibition games and participated in showcases at big league sites in Arizona and Florida during Spring Training.

The biggest knock on Cabrera is the notion that he only has one gear: full speed. He is still harnessing his skills and working on the fine art of playing under control

SS Franklin Barreto
Scouting Report : Scouts love Barreto’s defense and natural instincts when the young Venezuelan has a glove in his hands. He’s also gained praise for his approach at the plate -- specifically, the ability to hit line drives to all parts of the field. He is not the biggest shortstop but he has a solid build and a strong body. He also has above-average speed and has emerged as one of the top teenage talents in all of Latin America because of his tools set.

Barreto starred in MLB-sponsored showcases in his country and traveled to the Dominican Republic last February along with 24 other prospects from Venezuela to take part in the first MLB prospect showcase to feature the top 50 prospects from Venezuela and Dominican Republic. His performance at the two-day showcase, held at the Mets’ complex in Boca Chica, only solidified his status as one of the top prospects on the international market.

Barreto is trained by Ciro Barrios in the northern Venezuelan city of Turmero.

SP Jose Mujica
Scouting Report : Best described as having a “loose arm,” the right-handed teenager is tall and lean with a nice delivery. Developed by former Major Leaguer Carlos Guillen in his academy in Venezuela, the young pitcher projects as a starter and has received some of the best instruction in Latin America. Scouts like his arm strength and say he throws “a heavy ball” that makes it tough for hitters to hit his pitches cleanly. A confident teen, Mujica isn’t the most vocal player in the dugout but he leads by example.

Undaunted by the big stage, Mujica shined in the Dominican Republic last February when he took part in the MLB prospect showcase with the top prospects from Venezuela and Dominican Republic. Part of Guillen’s job, says the longtime Major Leaguer, is to prepare prospects like Mujica for life on and off the field as a professional athlete, and the pitcher is a quick study. The former big league infielder has been impressed with Mujica’s poise and maturity. He says Mujica's aggressiveness reminds him of former teammates Felix Hernandez and a young Freddy Garcia.
