OS Create-A-Player Dynasty: The Houston Astros

The Houston Astros have been declared to be financial troubles, and in order to remain a team in the MLB, they must be be able to get under their already superbly low salary cap. With this, they have announced that they have released many members of their team from last year. With the new season on the horizon, the Astros will rely on new recruits such as Nick McColgan, Josh Stone and Tyler Jacobs to lead them to supremacy at the top of the American League standings.

    Player Presets
I have come up with a few preset ratings for hitters and pitchers that I believe are reasonable. Whatever the players' three strong points are, they will add 15 points to that skill on top of the preset. (For example, if the preset for power is 80, and the player has selected power as one of his strong skills, then his power will be bumped to a 95). Because of this, the players should all be rated differently depending on which strong skills were picked, however they should be in the same range. For both contact and power, the side the side that the batter bats on will receive a 10 point decrease (for example, if a batter is right handed, power and contact against right-handed pitchers will have a preset that is 10 less than the regular presets). As said, the presets for hitters are:
    Potential: 85
    Contacts: 70
    Power: 65
    Bunting: 50
    Plate Vision & Discipline: 65
    Clutch: 60
    Durability: 73
Speed (if power hitter or fat, minus 10): 63
    Arm: 72
    Reaction: 68
    Fielding AB: 73
    Blocking (Catcher plus 50): 20
Stealing (if power hitter or fat, minus 15. If speedy add 10.) & BR AGR: 67

The logic is the same for pitchers, each stat or series of stats will have a preset value and the skill that is chosen to be boosted will also receive a 15 point boost. The pitcher presets are as follows:

    Stamina (Relievers minus 30): 70
    Pitching Clutch: 65
    H/9: 65
    HR/9: 65
    K/9: 65
    BB/9: 65
    Pitch #1
    Velo: 75
    Control: 65
    Break: 40
    Pitch #2
    Velo: 80
    Control: 65
    Break: 55
    Pitch #3
    Velo: 65
    Control: 60
    Break: 55
    Pitch #4
    Velo: 70
    Break: 55
    Control: 40
    Hitting Skills:
    Potential: 85
    All power and contact: 35
    Buntings: 50
    Plate vision & discipline: 40
    Clutch: 20
    Durability: 55
    Speed: 60
    Arm Strength & Accuracy: 70
    Reaction: 60
    Fielding: 70
    Stealing and BR: 45

Re: OS Create-A-Player Dynasty: The Houston Astros

So before we get this thing into full swing, I want to establish some things relating to the players, rosters, etc.

So first of all, I am NOT using the OSFM roster because when I created the team I had no idea how close the OSFM rosters were close to being finished. So I downloaded a set of rosters from the roster vault that contain almost all of the prospects in Double-A and Triple-A and most of the notable prospects that are in Single-A (ex. Daniel Norris, Carlos Correa, etc.). This being said, I do have this franchise on 30-team control to avoid any weird things that could potentially happen, as I am not to sure about this year's trade logic yet (if it's anything like last years then I'm very glad I'm using 30-team control).

Moving on, I have come up with a few preset ratings for hitters and pitchers that I believe are reasonable. As said, the presets for hitters are:
                      Potential: 85
                      Contacts: 70
                      Power: 65
                      Bunting: 50
                      Plate Vision & Discipline: 65
                      Clutch: 60
                      Durability: 73
Speed (if power hitter or fat, minus 10): 63
                      Arm: 72
                      Reaction: 68
                      Fielding AB: 73
                      Blocking (Catcher plus 50): 20
Stealing (if power hitter or fat, minus 15. If speedy add 10.) & BR AGR: 67

                      HR/9: 65
                      K/9: 65
                      BB/9: 65

                      Break: 55

                      Hitting Skills:
                      Potential: 85
                      All power and contact: 35

                      Plate vision & discipline: 40
                      Clutch: 20
                      Durability: 55
                      Speed: 60
                      Arm Strength & Accuracy: 70
                      Reaction: 60
                      Fielding: 70
                      Stealing and BR: 45

I believe that is all I have to say for now, the presets will also be available on the first post. I will try to get a depth chart up with player ratings as soon as possible.

When's the first game? What's the batting order?
