Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)
COULD THE M'S CHALLENGE 116?
The Seattle Mariners went 20-5 in in April back in 2001 on their way to 116 wins. Fast forward to 2015, and the M's are currently 20-5 but yet still have 3 games left in the month after winning 4 of 6 on the road against LAA and the A's. So the question is could the M's really challenge their Franchise and Major League record held by the 2001 team and the 1906 Chicago Cubs?
Here is a recap of the past 6 road games.
The Halos avoid the sweep with a Game 3 victory..
In Game 1, the M's scored 10 runs for the 2nd time 3 days and for the 3rd time this year, beating the Angels 10-4
J. Niemann picked up his first "W" of the season going 7 IP giving up all 4 runs on 11 hits and 2 BB's well striking out 8.
J. Russell pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief.
At the Plate, Austin Jackson has a huge day going 4/6 with 2 HR's as he scored 3 times and drove in a team high 5 RBI's.
R. Cano also homered as he finished the day 4/5.
In Game 2 "King" Felix moved to 4-0 pitching 8 IP giving up just 1 run on 7 hits and 1 BB well striking out 4.
F. "The Arrow" Rodney pitched the 9th for his 7th save of the season striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced.
Tied 1-1 going into the 9th, Jesus Montero hit his first MLB HR of the season blasting a 2-run shot to give the M's the 3-1 victory.
Game 3- Tied ballgame (2-2) until the bottom of the 7th, when A. Pujols breaks the tie with his 3rd RBI of the day on a solo HR, forcing H. Iwakuma from the game.
Iwakuma's 6 1/3 IP was the shortest outing of the year for him as he gives up 3 runs on 9 hits well striking out 4.
In the 8th, the Halos add a insurance run of LHP L. Luetge. The run was the first one given up by Luetge all season in 22 IP including Spring Training.
D. Leone a scoreless 9th.
B. McCarthy improved to 4-0 for the Angels as he went 8 IP giving up just 2 runs on 4 hits well striking out 6.
K. Seager was responsible for 1 of the runs with a solo HR, well R. Cano added to his team leading RBI with a run scoring single.
Like Los Angeles, Oakland avoid the sweep by winning Game 1 before losing the next 2. It was the first time all season that Seattle has lost back to back games.
Game 1 (M's fall 3-2)
Seattle tied the game 2-2 in the 6th, but Oakland retakes the lead in the bottom of the inning on a Sogard RBI single, off starter T Walker.
Walker took the loss going 6 IP giving up 3 runs (2 ER) on 9 hits well striking out 5.
Pryor and Luetge (1 IP each) finished out the game.
Both of the Mariner runs came off a 2-run HR by J. Montero his 2nd HR of the road trip.
Game 2 (M's win 4-2)
R. Cano gave the M's the early lead in the 1st with a 2-run HR (#8) well DJ Peterson (RBI single) and S. Van Slyke (RBI triple) were responsible for the game winners.
J. Paxton picked up his 4th "W" of the year (4-1) with 7 1/3 IP giving up 2 runs on 6 H and 3 BB well striking out 4.
Rodney pitched the 9th for his 8th save.
Game 3 (M's win 7-6 *Played*)
Scoring 5 runs in the 4th, Seattle took a 6-1 lead, but the A' answered back with 1 in the bottom of the inning and 4 in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game 6-6, but in the 8th, Rookie SS C. Taylor comes up huge driving in the go ahead run with his second hit of the day.
K. Seager was the only other Mariner to finish with 2 hits including a 2-run HR.
On the Mound, starter J. Neimann gets the no-decision as he goes 6 2/3 IP giving up 6 runs on 10 hits and 4 BB well striking out 6.
D. Leone struck out all 3 batters he faced to pick up his first "W" of the year, well Rodney pitched the 9th for his 9th save of the year.
UP NEXT A REMATCH WITH THE HALOS IN SEATTLE

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)
M'S FINISH APRIL 22 AND 6
The Seattle Mariners have wrapped up April with a 22-6 record. The best in the Majors behind a absolutely dominating starting staff, a shutdown bullpen, and some timely hitting especially by 2B R. Cano the 200 millon dollar man signed last season.
Coming off off a season in which he hit .276 with 26 HR and 79 RBI, Cano is off to a hot start this April hitting .287/.365/.614 with 9 HR and 23 RB.
Well Felix is the clear cut "King" it might be time to at least crown Cano "Duke" or something.
Here is a recap of the last homestand vs the Halos to end the month.
Game 1 (M's fall 6-4)
Last season "King" Felix lost only 4 games all season including the playoff and the World Series. Well the M's lost today, the"L" wasn't credited to him because Hernandez went just 6 1/3 IP giving up 4 runs on 4 hits and 3 BB's well striking out 5, leaving with the game tied 4-4.
Lucas Luetge came in to close out the 7th and after getting the 2nd out of the IP, things were looking pretty good until A. Pujols hit a 2-run bomb to break the tie and give the Halo's the win.
With the lead blown, S. Pryor took over and got the final out plus finished out the game pitching 2 1/3 IP.
McCarthy on the other hand sticks around long enough to get credit for the win (6 IP) giving up the 4 runs on 8 hits well striking out 3.
At the Plate, the M's were led by DJ Peterson driving in 2 runs with a double finishing 1/4.
Game 2 (M's win 7-4)
The Angels scored 2 quick in the 1st off Iwakuma, but the M's rallied in the 5th scoring 4 runs to take a 6-4 lead before adding a insurance run in the 7th.
Iwakuma went 7 IP giving up 4 runs (3 ER) on 7 hits well striking out 5 to improve to 5-1 on the month, well F. Rodney pitched the 9th for his 10th save of the month.
At the Plate, R. Cano's base clearing (grand slam) team leading 9th homerun in the 5th was a highlight, as was Jesus Montero's 2-run moon shot in the 4th. Montero finished the day 3/4 and hitting .261 since coming up from Tacoma 10 days ago.
Game 3 (M's win 4-1 *Game Played*)
At the Plate
3 Home runs including back to back solo shots by Seager and Morrison in the 4th hightlight the offense. S. Van Slyke also hit a dinger in the 6th. Van Slyke finished the day 2/3 with another run scored as well and is hitting .338 since taking over a spot in the batting order fulltime.
On the Mound
T. Walker improved to 4-1 as he goes 8 IP giving up just 1 run on 7 hits and 3 BB well striking out 6.
F. "The Arrow" Rodney pitched the 9th for his AL leading 11th save of the season. Rodney has yet to allow a run this season in 11 IP and has given up only 4 hits and 4 BB's posting a .073 WHIP and .111 BA.
In a contract year, Rodney (38 yrs old) who saved 49 games last season could be looking to cash in 1 more payday before hanging up the cleats.

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)
STANDINGS ON MAY 1ST
Well the defending World Series Champs 22-6 start has been the talk of the West Coast, there has been excitement in both the Midwest and the East Coast as well.
On the East Coast in the nations capital, the Washington Nat's are off to a 19-8 start including a 12-2 record in the NL East winning 5 in a row and 8 of their past 10.
In the Midwest specifically the N.L. Central we see a 3 way race that includes the Chicago Cubs. Yes that's right the Chicago Cubs!!! The Cubs started out as hot as any team in the majors posting a 12-4 record to start by have won just 3 of their past 12 games as they now stand at 15-13. Their fall is even more dramatic considering the Cincinnati Reds are 20-8 and the St Louis Cardinals are 18-9.
Here is a look at the Standings for all Divisions.

Boston Red Sox's 17-10
New York Yanks 17-12 (1.0 GB)

N.L. WEST
San Diego Padres 16-12
San Francisco Giants 17-14 (0.5 GB)
Arizona Diamondbacks 14-15 (2.5 GB)
Los Angeles Dodgers 14-15 (2.5 GB)
Colorado Rockies 9-19 (7.0 GB)
So well much of the talk has been about what teams are doing well so far in April, I think we need to high light the fall of Colorado. The NL Champs are just 2 games away from having the worst record in baseball what happened?
Well for starters they lost D. Gee for what looks like the season with a Torn Rotor Cuff after just 2.2 IP this season and well new #1 J. Peavy is 3-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 6 starts, the rest of the rotation has been horid!!
J. De La Rosa was 8-2 last season and 16-6 in 2013. So far this season he is 0-5 with a 8.14 ERA and is probably 1 start away from being DNF.
F. Morales won 15 games last season but in 4 starts this year is 0-1 with a ERA of 6.23
B. Anderson went 17-6 last season but so far this year in 6 starts is 1-1 with a ERA of 4.33
and J. Chacin is 2-3 with a 6.75 ERA also in 6 starts.
To top it off, CP B. Parnell who was automatic saving 30 games in 2 months last season so far is 5/7 this year with 1 loss and a ERA of 9.00 in 6 IP.
WHO IS HOT!!
Last season, Corey Hart was the talk of baseball as he went to the American League and helped the Seattle Mariners win their first ever Wold Series hitting .289 with 48 HR and 142 RBI in the regular season.
Now after resigning with his former team the Milwaukee Brewers this off-season he is the talk of the National League.
In the month of April, Hart leads the N.L. with 11 HR's and is #2 in RBI's with 25 well batting .326.
Sticking with the N.L., we see why the Reds have been so successful as Joey Votto finished April batting .398 with 5 HR and 14 RBI, well teammate M. Latos is off to a 5-0 start with a 1.77 ERA
This off-season 2B A. Hill going to St Louis was seen as a huge move for the Cards, and so far it's paid off with Hill hitting .351 with 6 HR and 16 RBI. Teammate J. Kelly has also been huge going 4-0 despite a 4.07 ERA
Another big move was the Washington Nat's moving A. Rendon to 3B after spending the 2014 season at 2B, and moving R. Zimmerman across the diamond to 1B. Well now Rendon is leading the team in HR's (9) and RBI's (21) well hitting .329. Teammate T. Roark has also been golden as he is 4-0 with a 2.39 ERA in 5 starts and CP R. Soriano is 12/12 in save opps with a 0.00 ERA in 11.2 IP
In the A.L., Mike Trout is off to a MVP type season as he leads the league in hitting at .408 and in SB's with 9 well also hitting 8 HR's and driving in 20 runs and scoring a A.L. leading 29 runs. Teammate's A. Pujols is also hitting well leading the A.L. with 11 HR's and 38 RBI well batting .310 and SP B. McCarthy is currently 5-0 with a 2.45 ERA after beating the M's 3 days ago.
Many Red Sox fan's questioned the move of trading for Catcher M. Montero last year, but he is looking to prove them wrong as he is currently hitting .345 with 5 HR and 21 RBI in April.
Well the Seattle Mariners rotation has been dominating and deserves to be mentioned here, you will see all about them in the M's Team Report so let's look at who else has been dominating.
Boston made huge news when they signed M. Scherzer to a huge F.A. deal well also resigning J. Lester and J. Lackey.
Well so far Lackey is 5-0 with a 1.71 ERA, Lester is 4-1 with a 4.35 ERA and Scherzer is 3-2 with a 2.42 ERA
When Baltimore resigned J. Johnson to comeback and close games many wondered why after all T. Hunter had been pretty solid in 2014, but Johnson who saved 40 games for Oakland has been dominating going a perfect 10/10 well posting a ERA of 0.93
So that's a look at who is hot, well now let's take a look at who is not
The Cubs made alot of news when they announced that K. Bryant, J. Baez A. Russell, J. Soler and A. Alcantara would all be on the opening day roster. Well so far in the month of April here is there stats
Bryant-.204 with 2 HR and 11 RBI
Baez-.235 with 6 HR and 13 RBI (his HR and RBI's lead the team)
Russell-.222 with 1 HR and 9 RBI
Soler-.184 in 38 AB's before hitting the DL
Alcantara-.179 with 5 RBI in 39 AB's.
The Pirates have won just 9 games this season and if you want to point fingers start with G. Cole (0-3 5.45 ERA) and J. Taillon (0-4 4.33 ERA)
Joining them on the cold list is 4/5th's of the Rockies rotation, T. Lincecum (1-5 5.35 ERA) as well as E. Santana (0-4 4.34 ERA), Z. Wheeler (0-5 5.93 ERA), J. Niese (1-2 6.55 ERA in 6 starts) and M. Harvey (0-3 4.50 ERA in 5 starts who is now on the DL)
On the mound in the A.L.
H. Owens 0-3 6.00 ERA in 5 starts
A. Cobb 1-4 7.56 ERA in 5 starts
J. Santana 0-3 7.77 ERA in 5 starts
G. Floyd 0-4 7.67 ERA in 6 starts
At the Plate in the N.L.
3B D. Wright is hitting .165 with 3 HR and 13 RBI
OF J. Bruce is hitting .184 with 4 HR and 15 RBI
OF R. Braun is hitting .213 with 3 HR 13 RBI
3B N. Arenado is hitting .167 with 1 HR and 2 RBI
At the Plate in the A.L.
3B M. Dominguez is hitting .172 with 2 HR and 9 RBI
SS E. Andrus is hitting .215 with 6 RBI
OF J. Hamilton is hitting .187 with 3 HR and 14 RBI
SS J. Iglesias is hitting .167 with 3 RBI
DH J. Ortiz is hitting .156 with 1 HR and 3 RBIComment

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)
Yeah sorry I had to take 4 of 6 from your Angels but the good news there is always the W.C. Only problem with that is they would most likely take on the M's in the 1st Round of the playoffs the way they are playing..
Thanks for checking in and following along.Comment

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)
APRIL TEAM REPORT
The M's 22 wins can be contributed to the current rotation that is 19-5 comibined.
H. Iwakuma leads the team with a 5-1 record well posting a 2.28 ERA in 6 of 6 quality starts and a team best 3 complete games.
F. Hernandez has yet to lose a game going 4-0 well posting a 1.54 ERA with 4 of 6 quality starts and 1 complete game shutout.
T. Walker (4-1 2.14 ERA 5/6 QS) and J. Paxton (4-1 team best ERA of 1.11 with 4/5 QS) have been dominating in just their 2nd seasons.
The 1 weak link so far has been #5 J. Neimann (1-2 4.11 ERA 2/5 QS) but as you will read in the Down on the Farm Report there are plenty of arms ready to take his place.
Well the Rotation has been very good, the bullpen has been just as amazing.
CP F. "The Arrow" Rodney leads the A.L. with 11/11 save attempts and a 0.00 ERA in 11 IP
D. Farquhar has 3 saves and 8 holds well posting a 1.59 ERA in 11 1/3 IP holding batters to just a .167 BA
D. Leone is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 9 IP posting a 11.0 K/9 ratio and a 0.56 WHIP
S. Pryor is 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA in 8 IP posting a 9.0 K/9 and holding RHH to just .077
LHP L. Lutege is 1-1 with a ERA of 3.12 in 8.2 IP well also posting a 10.38 K/9 and is holding LHH to just .067
If there is a weak link so far it would be LHP J. Russell who is 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA in 5.2 IP, but even he has a WHIP of 0.71 and a opponent BA of .158 or maybe RHP Y. Medina who has pitched just 3 IP posting a 3.00 ERA.
The Offense hasn't been great, but they have done just enough to help with those 22 "W's".
2B R. Cano finished the month hitting .287 with a team high 9 HR and 23 RBI
CF A. Jackson hit just .250 out of the leadoff spot but did mange to hit 6 HR and drive in 16 RBI.
LF S. Van Slyke took over mid month but in 59 AB's is hitting a team best .359 with 3 HR and 11 RBI well also posting a team best OPB of .400 and is #2 in SLG% to Cano at .576
1B/DH/OF L. Morrison's bat is starting to see everyday action as he is hitting .305 with 3 HR and 11 RBI in 82 AB's.
C M. Zunino is on fire hitting .300 with 2 HR and 11 RBI after hitting just .222 last season with 6 HR and 30 RBI. "Z" is hitting .339 vs RHP but just .167 vs LHP
SS B. Miller is in a slump hitting just .208 with 1 HR and 5 RBI in 72 AB's which should open the door for Rookie C. Taylor to get more AB's. He is hitting .265 Overall but .353 vs LHP in 34 AB's with 3 RBI.
3B K. Seager is off to a slow start hitting .258 with 5 HR and 11 RBI in 97 AB's, but he is playing solid D with just 1 Error this month.
Backup C G. Soto is hitting just .238 overall but is hitting .286 vs RHP in 21 AB's which proves the M's still need to find a catcher who can hit Lefties.
That person might be DH J. Montero. Since coming to Seattle mid-month, he is hitting .261 with 3 HR and 9 RBI in 46 AB's, but he is hitting .353 vs LHP.
Rookie 1B DJ Peterson also made the jump playing in 10 games in April and finished the month hitting .278 with 1 HR and 4 RBI in 36 AB's, but he too is pounding lefties hitting .364.
S. Romero also joined the M's the same time as Montero and Peterson but without a everyday spot in the lineup has just 16 AB's hitting .187 with 3 RBI, but his .429 BA vs LHP has him the perfect person for a pinch hitting role.
F.A. C. Denorfia will need to hope he can heat up quick or he will likely be a DNF early in the month of May. So far in April in 57 AB's he is hitting just .175 with 1 HR and 8 RBI and what's worse is he is only hitting .222 vs LHP which is where he has normally been solid in the past. With several bats ready to make the jump up to Seattle including J. Smoak and M. Saunders there is a good chance he won't be with the team when they return home from their 6 game road trip on May 7th.Comment

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)
I will have to finish the Farm Report either tomorrow after work or Tues on my next day off..
As always if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask..
Right now the team is playing amazing. I went 7-2 in games played and they went 15-4 in sim. Part of me wants to play more games, but I really like moving through the months quickly and we are currently in the process of making offers to buy a home, so once one is accepted I am going to have a lot less time on my days off to play so for now I will probably keep the same schedule of playing every 3rd.Comment

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)
They then brought E. Bonifacio back north to play CF after I didn't resign him. I don't have my PS3 on right now so I can't tell you their stats, or remember for sure what kind of contract he got, but I believe it was like a 2 or 3 year deal for 3 mil per season, so it's cheap enough to trade him or make him a utility guy once Pompey proves he is ready to take over.
They don't have DJ Davis any more as he was part of the deal that brought R. Martin to Toronto, but they still have A. Gose as well.
Boni could move to 2B, even though I Toronto did resign G. Beckham after dealing for him last year as well.Comment

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)
DOWN ON THE FARM REPORT
Like their parent club, the Tacoma Rainiers are off to a hot start going 19-8 in the April. They currently are in 1st Place in the PCL North Divsion with a 3 game lead on the Reno Aces (16-11). Their 19 wins is the most of any AAA team this month.
Also like Seattle, Tacoma's success can largely be contributed to the starting rotation.
Veteran J. Hammel originally signed to be the #5 for the M's but a rough spring sent him to Tacoma to get things straighten out. So far he is 3-1 with a 3.64 ERA well pitching 4/6 quality starts.
Top-10 prospect and former #2 Overall Draft pick LHP Danny Hultzen missed all of 2014 but has adjusted quite well to AAA with a 3-0 record well posting a team best 1.45 ERA with 4/5 QS
E. Ramirez is once again proving he could be a valuable arm to someone as he is 2-1 with a 2.39 ERA well pitching 5 of 6 QS.
Another Top-10 prospect 20 yr old Victor Sanchez is 1-1 with a 1.95 ERA and has 5/5 QS so far this season, well #5 SP J. Pries is 3-1 with a 3.35 ERA and 3/5 QS.
Also like Seattle, the Bullpen has been pretty dominating. CP C. Smith has saved 8/9 games in 7 1/3 IP well posting a 2.45 ERA.
Converted starter B. Maurer is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 8 IP, but he is holding RHH to just .118 and has a K/9 of 12.38
Vetern Lefties, J. Biemel (3 saves 3.18 ERA in 5.2 IP) and C. Furbush (1-0 0.00 ERA in 7 2/3 IP) both are pitching well.
Well veteran minor leaguers D. Cohn (2-1 1.46 ERA in 12 1/3 IP) and LHP J. Mijares (3-1 3.65 ERA in 12 1/3 IP) have also been solid again in Tacoma after spending the entire 2014 season there as well.
Offensively the Rainiers are scoring runs (137) as well (M's have scored 126)
J. Smoak struggled in Seattle but looks to be finding his grove in AAA hitting .351 in 37 AB's with 1 HR and 10 RBI. What's even better is he is hitting .385 vs RHP vs just .273 vs LHP, making for a great platoon situation.
D. Ackley hasn't adjusted as well hitting just .220 since his demotion but he does have 3 HR and 8 RBI in those 41 AB's
Minor league veteran OF M. Saunders seems to finally be healthy and is hitting .321 with 3 HR and 10 RBI in 84 AB's. He also is a perfect 4/4 in SB attempts.
C J. Hicks looks like he could be a option behind the dish in Seattle as he is hitting .333 with 2 HR and 6 RBI in 30 AB's. Time will tell if he can keep it up, well his platoon mate T. Marlette is hitting .317 with 8 RBI in 63 AB's.

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)
They let him go in F.A. I don't remember his 2014 #'s but they were not that great. He is now in Chicago (Whitesox) playing LF.
Beckham after dealing for him last year as well.
Thanks. Yea I won't be bringing boni back haha. Thanks a lot. Great job btw love your updatesComment
