Opening Day lineups for all 3 teams will be my next post followed by a Top-20 prospect review..

To be honest I don't know what to do about the Cleanup role. I was hoping it would be either Cruz or Butler but guess they both don't like rain or something. I also struck out trying to sign W. Betemit as my backup IF. I had him in my MLB13 Franchise and really liked him and he hit 17 bombs for Tampa last year so I thought he would be a good add.

Really not sure why the F.A.'s didn't want to come especially after winning the World Series. I offered more money for all 3 players and then even added years as well.

I really liked Seager last year in the #5 hole but his 29 HR's 94 RBI's might be my best option to move up a spot, unless I go with whoever is starting at 1B (Smoak/Morrison). Because of the way the roster worked out, it appears I will be in a similar situation as to real life M's this season not having a true DH, so that at least opens the door for a mid-season trade that won't affect my lineup to much.

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)

With the graduation of T. Walker and J. Paxton last season and SS C. Taylor starting the season on the 25 man roster, here is a look at the new Top-15 prospects in the M's system.

            #1 1B/3B DJ Peterson (71/B)
"The 2013 1st Round Draft pick hit double digit HR's last season in AA before struggling at AAA, but he hit .289 with 2 HR's this spring showing that his bat is maybe back"

            ETA-Mid Season 2015

            #2 OF Alex Jackson (73/A)
"The M's 1st Round Pick in 2014 is only 19 years old and will start the year in AA and hope to duplicate the success that DJ Peterson and Austin Wilson had last season in Jackson"

ETA-September callup in 2016 or Spring of 2017

            #3 OF Gabby Guerrero (66/B)
"Guerrero struggled in Jackson early but still managed to finish the season with double digit HR's. Until some of the AAA depth at OF is dealt with Guerrero will stay in Jackson to get fulltime AB's"

ETA-Sept callup in 2016 or Spring of 2017

            #4 OF Austin Wilson (69/B)
"The M's 2nd Round pick in 2013, dominated AA pitching last season leading the team in HR's and RBI's. He will start the year in AAA Tacoma and look to repeat himself this season"

ETA-Sept callup this season, could make the 25 in the Spring of 2016

            #5 SP Danny Hultzen (77/B)
"The M's 1st Round Pick in 2012 (#2 Overall) career has been stalled with injuries including missing all of last season. He struggled this spring but will look to prove he is healthy and ready to go in Tacoma"

ETA-Sept callup unless a injury opens the door earlier

            #6 SP E. Diaz (70/B)
"Diaz picked up double digit "W's" last season at Jackson before heading to Tacoma in July. He returned to Jackson for the AA playoffs and pitched well picking up a victory. He will start the year in AA again but once either Ramirez or Hammel make the jump to Seattle he will be back in Tacoma.

ETA-Spring Training invite in 2017 with a possibility of taking Iwakuma spot in the rotation?

            #7 3B P. Kivlehan (68/B)
"He is roadblocked at the MLB level by Seager at 3B and with DJ Peterson already moving to 1B, he will start the year in AAA at 3B, but at 25 yrs old it might be time to see if he can hit MLB pitching as a possible DH"

ETA-2015 depending on how other perform, could be July, could be Sept.

            #8 OF G. Morgan (70/B)
"The M's Comp pick in the in 1st Round of the 2014 Draft. He turned 19 in April, but he has huge power upside. Some Scouts say G. Stanton like.. He will start the year in AA Jackson and hope to duplicate the type of #'s A. Wilson put up last year.

            #9 SS K. Marte (71/B)
"Continuing in the line of Top-10 prospects at SS (N. Franklin, B. Miller, C. Taylor) Marte can hit and he can run. He might not stick as a everyday SS but could have a future as a pretty good utility IF and could make the M's roster that way sooner then later"

ETA-Sept callup for sure. Might make the team sooner depending on Miller and Taylor.

            #10 C Tyler Marlette (66/C)
"Spent all of 2014 in AA Jackson but start the year in Tacoma. With the M's struggling to find a backstop who can hit, Marlette's will need to prove he can hit early"

ETA-Most likely will see time in Seattle this season, for sure will be a Sept callup.

            #11 SP V. Sanchez (73/B)
"A International signee in 2011, Sanchez dominated both AA and AAA last season and could be the next young SP to make the jump to the M's rotation. Some say his upside is a #3, which is why Diaz is ranked ahead of him"

ETA-Sept callup unless a injury gets him there sooner.

            #12 SP Tyler Pike (70/B)
"The M's 3rd Round pick in 2012, like Paxton and Hutlzen he is another Lefty who had mid-rotation upside. He is only 21 and has yet to make the jump to AAA despite double digit wins last year in AA Jackson. Once a rotation spot opens up in Tacoma though he will get his chance.

            ETA-2017

            #13 CP Carson Smith (81/B)
"Smith dominated batters in Tacoma last year posting a ERA under 1.00 and picking up 38 saves. With a crowded bullpen in Seattle he will likely spend the year in Tacoma again until Sept.

ETA-Sept callup, Could be the CP in 2016 if Rodney isn't resigned.

            #14 1B/OF Tyler O'Neill (57/B)
"O'Neill was the M's 3rd Round pick in 2013 after Peterson and Wilson as a High school Catcher. He spent last season in AA Jackson as a OF, but wil transition to 1B this season as well as DH"

ETA-He just turned 19, so he most likely won't see Seattle until Sept of 2017 or Spring of 2018.

            #15 OF Xavier Avery (67/C)
"Despite being ranked #15 on this list and starting the year in AA Jackson as the everyday CF and leadoff hitter, Avery could very well see Seattle sometime this season, especially if M. Saunders is traded or continues to get hurt. Like Guerrero he is only in Jackson to start the year because of the depth in Tacoma in the OF.

ETA-Most likely will be a Spring Training invite in 2016

              2015 TRADE SEASON STARTS EARLY!!

Marlins Acquire Jarred Cosart, Enrique Hernandez For Colin Moran, Jake Marisnick, Comp Pick

By Jeff Todd [March 31, 2014 at 3:43pm CDT]

The Marlins have announced a multi-player trade with the Astros that will bring starter Jarred Cosart, shortstop Enrique Hernandez, and outfielder Austin Wates to Miami in exchange for third baseman Colin Moran, outfielder Jake Marisnick, pitcher Francis Martes, and the Marlins’ 2015 compensation pick.

It's a interesting move by the Houston Astros trading their #1 from last season but with the Free Agent signings of F. Liriano and G. Floyd as well as D. McGowan, it appears that Houston felt like they had the depth to part ways with Cosart who was 13-13 with a 3.92 ERA last season.

Cosart will jump into the Marlins rotation in the #2 spot behind Jose Fernandez.

With Marisnick in the mix, most would assume Dexter Fowler's days in Houston could be coming to a end, well the arrival of Morin is also very interesting because at one time Houston was rumored to be thinking about taking him #1 in the 2013 draft ahead of M. Appeal who will start the season in AAA but now with Cosart gone could find himself in the rotation before the end of the season.

                CHICAGO CUBS GO YOUNG

The Chicago Cubs once again are making headlines, as they announce that Top-prospects, Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, Addison Russell, J. Solar and Arismendy Alcantara have all made the Opening Day 25-man roster.

Baez originally scheduled to start at 2B, will start the year on the DL, so Alcantara who has been pegged to move to CF will instead start at 2B.

                A. Russell has moved from SS to 3B, displacing K. Bryant who is making the move to RF, well J. Solar will play LF.

Yeah run 30 team control, but at the start of spring training, I turn the 40 man, lineups and rosters moves back over to the CPU. They decided this was the Cubs best roster, which looking at it, I agree. They still have alot of OF depth as Ruggiano is still on the team because he was hurt last year during the trade deadline, so he will start in CF, until Baez returns. However they also have Almora in AAA.

Should be interesting to see how the season goes and to see what trades I might be able to make for them to land a SP. They don't have a current CP (they are using Strop), so one deal I might consider doing, is trading them my AAA CP Carson Smith for M. Olt if he hits anything at all early in the season, as Olt might look good at DH for me. Last year he only hit .238 with 12 HR's.

USS MARINER ANNOUNCES POSSIBLE TRADE TARGETS

With opening day just around the corner and the current roster having a huge hole at DH and still struggling to find a backup Catcher, here is names of 2 players rumored to be currently targeted by GM "The Deuce"

                      Cubs M. Olt (74/B)
"Olt once considered a Top-50 prospect when he was dealt from Texas to Chicago in the M. Garza deal, has fallen out of the Cubs future plans as they now have A. Russell starting at 3B, and Top-prospect Kris Bryant in RF, a spot many thought Olt might go. Olt did however manage to hit .262 with 12 HR's and 47 RBI and at 26 is still young enough to take a flyer on"

                      Deuce
"What I like about Olt is he is still young (26) and he has power. I also like that he could play 3B for Seager against tougher lefties, as he brings in another RH bat"
                      Padres Y. Grandal (81/B)
"The price to get Grandal might be high after he hit .273 with 16 HR's and 63 RBI's last season, but with the Padres adding veterans R. Hanigan (78/C) and E. Kratz (75/C) this offseason plus 22 yr old Top-Prospect A. Hedges (69/A) ready to take over, this could be a good fit"

                      Deuce
"The idea here is Grandal would actually split days evenly with Zunino with the opposite person landing at DH, thus filling both needs. Obviously the cost will be higher, but I feel like our depth in the bullpen and in the rotation at AAA plus our young OF's could get the deal done"

M'S PULL ON THE BROOMS FOR 2015

                          VS

Last season on their way to 100 wins, the Seattle Mariners only broke out the brooms just 5 times all season, hopefully seeing them in the opening day series is just a sign of good things to come.

In Game 1 it was just as advertised with the M's winning the game 2-0. King Felix went just 6 2/3 IP but was dominate giving up just 3 hits well striking out 8.

Harvey wasn't as lucky as he goes 5 2/3 IP giving up 2 runs (1 ER) on 4 hits and 6 BB's well striking out 6.

The M's bullpen showed they are good to go as Farquhar finishes off the 7th with a K, followed by hitless 8th by Leone and then it was "The Arrow" closing the door in the 9th for his 1st save.

At the Plate, it was the bottom of the order who comes through as hitters 1-5 put up a goose egg on the day.

New RF C. Denorfia goes 1/2 and draws 2 walks as he scores both runs.

Logan Morrison goes 2/4 and M. Zunino goes 1/3 driving in both runs (run #2 was on a sac fly)

In Game 2, H. Iwakuma gave up a run in the 1st inning but after that went into shutdown mode as he pitches the complete game 4 hitter striking out 5 in the M's 6-1 victory.

Santana takes the loss as he goes 4 IP giving up 5 runs on 7 hits.

At the Plate R. Cano comes up big with a solo HR in the 1st to tie the game and then hit #2 in the 5th (another solo) as he finishes the day 2/4.

                          K. Seager went 2/3 and scored once, well Denorfia comes up huge in the 2nd with a 2-run bomb for his 1st HR in a M uni.

In Game 3, Z. Wheeler struggled to find the strike zone as the M's walk 9 times in 4 1/3 IP scoring 5 runs (4 ER) on just 2 hits.

Bartolo Colon didn't fair much better as he comes in and pitches just 1 2/3 Ip giving up 4 runs on 5 hits., as the M's offense explodes in the 10-2 win

                          T. Walker still remembering his 15 K playoff performance, throws smoke, darts and everything else that the Met's couldn't hit, as he strikes out 11 in 8 IP, giving up the 2 runs on 6 hits.

                          J. Russell pitched the 9th in the the non-save situation.

At the Plate, it was "Chicks Dig the Long Ball" as the M's show that just maybe they can survive without Corey Hart's 48 HR's.

Austin Jackson hits HR #1 as a M, with a solo shot in the 1st.

Kyle Seager adds his fist HR of the season with a solo shot in the 4th

                          and in the 5th, J. Smoak connects on a 2-run bomb followed by M. Zunino's 3-run bomb.

Ackly, Morrison and Miller all had RBI's as well

                          UP NEXT

With a 3-0 start to the season, the M's now head East for a 6 game series vs the AL East, first stopping in the Big Apple for a 3 game series vs the Yanks before heading to Baltimore. The M's then return home for a 10 game home stand vs (Texas-3, Oakland-4 and Minnesota-3).

Catching up after being in Cleveland the last 3 days. Congrats on the World Series man and nice write ups on the off season news.

How'd you go about Free Agency? Did you take control and not resign guys that won't be resigned by teams this year like Scherzer, Lester, etc. Then once they were in the free agency pools did you turn control back over to the CPU or did you bid for them? I'm curious because I wanted to make sure there was a decent amount of top free agents in my franchise.

Thank you. It was fun to win. Don't think it will be as easy to do this year.

As far as F.A. goes, I turned contracts and Free Agency to Manuel and went through and resigned most players to 3-5 year deals (figure this way it will cut down on the time in the future) For players who are going to be Free Agents in 2015, I went off this list

MLBTR's up-to-date list of 2014-15 MLB free agents is below (using a criteria of 50 plate appearances or 20 innings …

Then I went back in and turned things back to auto, but still made offers for the CPU when I saw teams leading on a player where I felt like they were not a good fit. Originally Colorado was bidding on Lester, Sherzer, Peavy and Liriano. Boston had a ton of cap space, and was #2 on both Lester and Scherzer, so I just upped their offers, in the process they somehow stole Billy Butler away from me even though I was over longer term and more money.

I didn't even notice the Dodgers signed Shields until he was gone, because it was like a 1 day acceptance.

When it was all said and done there really wasn't a bunch of guy's Seemed like there was around 5-8 at each position worth signing and the rest of F.A. was D potential guys rated in the low 60's.

One thing to be careful about is once you turn on Auto, the CPU goes crazy and will sign a bunch of those type of guy's, taking their rosters to 90 players and it seemed like almost every team had like 12 RP's on their AAA roster, so I had to go through and cut like 10 guys off each team.

In future years, I might just keep things on manuel and maybe come up with a roll the dice type system to figure out where guy's sign, by picking 6 teams that would most likely make a play and roll the dice to decide what team signs them, this way I still wouldn't be able to just sign whatever players I wanted for the M's and keep them off other A.L. West teams.

Ya. We can't have this happen. No favoritism over my Angels.lol Would interested in knowing the system once you decide.

I am waiting for the hybrid rosters WTNY and a few are working on. Once those come out I will probably be starting my dynasty up. Might see if I can get the guts to draw up a writing on here. Might not. I have written 1 on another site where a few guys I met here went and created for ourselves. But it wasn't up to par as yours, Royals, WTNY, lilbiggio's or any of the other great 1's on these boards.
