Re: Bleeding Red | Cincinnati Reds Franchise | MLB 15
Prospect Watch Season 1
#10 - Aristides Aquino | OF | R/R - Aquino is an interesting prospect as he doesn't excel in one area. He signed out of the Dominican and hopes to make the team in the future. Don't count him out, but chances are slim of him making the team this year.
ETA - 2017
#9 - Yorman Rodrequez | RF | R/R - Yorman is another International signee, but he comes out of Venezuela for 2.5 million dollars. He broke into the big leagues in 2014, but was injured and was sent back down. He will not start on the Major League team, but look for him to replace an injured player.
ETA - 2015
#8 - Phil Ervin | CF | R/R - The third outfielder on the list is Phil Ervin. Phil was picked in the first round in 2013, but was injured in his first year of minor league ball. He has above average speed, but only hits around .250.
ETA - 2017
#7 - Jonathon Crawford | SP | R/R - Crawford came over from the trade that sent Alfredo Simon to the Tigers. Crawford has a strong arm with a fastball that tops out at 96 MPH. The one thing holding him back is his consistency.
ETA - 2016
#6 - Alex Blandino | SS | R/R - Blandino was the second of 2 first round picks in the 2014 draft. Management hopes his bat can progress him through the minor league levels quickly. He is also very disciplined at the plate, which helps his OBP.
ETA - 2017
#5 - Amir Garrett | SP | L/L - In college Amir played basketball for two years, before switching to baseball. The one thing holding Amir back is his height. He stands at 6'5", which causes consistency issues.
ETA - 2017
#4 - Nick Travieso| SP | R/R - Nick led single A in wins for the 2014 season. He has solid velocity with his fastball sitting between 92-94 MPH. He also has a nice slider that looks like it will be an above average major league pitch.
ETA - 2017
#3 - Nick Howard | SP | R/R - Nick has two good pitches in his fastball and slider, but he is still looking to find a consistent third pitch to get hitters out. His fastball sits in the low 90's. Howard is a man the Reds may look to move to the pen because he does have the ability to throw in the upper 90's if he doesn't have to log as many innings.
ETA - 2017
#2 - Jesse Winker | LF | L/L - Winker is one of the best hitters in the minor league level, and has shown the ability to take pitches and work the count. He will be a good replacement for the Reds old outfield, and is a doubles hitting machine.
ETA - September 2015
#1 - Robert Stephenson | SP | R/R - Stephenson is another power arm in the Reds farm system. His fastball touches the upper 90's, and has a good curveball for a secondary pitch. If he can develop his change-up look for him to be an ace.
ETA - September 2015Comment

Re: Bleeding Red | Cincinnati Reds Franchise | MLB 15
Series 1
Reds win opener 7-5
Cincinnati,OH - The fresh cut grass, the hot dogs, and the big American flag stretched across can only mean one thing; Opening Day! The Reds have big dreams this year, but they will probably be busted before some of us can blink. Opening the year with division rival Pittsburgh is a big opportunity to see how the Reds stack up against one of the best teams in the league, and the Reds did not disappoint. Each team threw their aces, Gerrit Cole took the mound for the Pirates, and Johnny Cueto stepped on the mound for the Reds. However, only one pitcher looked like an ace, and that pitcher was Johnny Cueto. Cueto pitched 7 strong innings, giving up 6 hits, for 3 runs, and walked one. Cueto usually strikes out a lot of guys, but only got 2 swing and misses tonight. The opposing pitcher, Gerrit Cole didn't look like himself giving up 7 hits, going for 6 runs, and put 3 guys on base. The top 6 guys in the Reds order all had hits, and Brandon Philips led the squad with 2 hits, 2 RBI's, a Homer, and a base on balls. Philips was quoted after the game saying, "I am a veteran on this team, and I am here to lead. I need to lead on and off the field, and I'm not worried about either." Speedster Billy Hamilton also swiped three bases in the meeting with the Pirates. Also going yard in today's game was Cincinnati Catcher Devin Mesoraco, and Pirates Center fielder Andrew McCutchen and Catcher Fransisco Cervelli.
Win - Johnny Cueto (1-0)
Loss - Gerrit Cole (0-1)
Save - Aroldis Chapman (1)

Pirates Game 2 - Coming off of an opening day victory the Reds were looking to build on that to gain momentum in the very young season. Homer Bailey took the mound for Cincy, and Fransisco Liriano would sling for the Pirates. Liriano went for a solid 8 innings, allowing 4 hits, striking out 9, while not giving up a run. Homer Bailey matched his performance pitching 9 innings, allowing three hits, fanning 7, and also not allowing a run. Then both manager decided to turn it to their bullpen for the tenth. Antonio Bastardo pitched a scorless tenth for the Pirates, while Sean Marshall matched for the Reds. The 11th was a different story however, as Sam LeCure gave up 3 runs on two hits in just .1 innings of work. Mark Melancon slammed the door for the Pirates securing their first victory of the year.
Win - Antonio Bastardo (1-0)
Loss - Sam LeCure (0-1)
Save - Mark Melancon (1)
Pirates game 3 - Game 3 was the rubber match for the first series of the season. Mike Leake took the mound for the Reds, and AJ Burnett pitched for Pitt. Each starter pitched 7 innings but neither would factor into the decision, because this would be another extra innings thriller. Burke Badenhop pitched from the 8th on for the Reds, while giving up 3 hits, and fanning 1. Jared Hughes pitched two scoreless innings before handing the ball over to Arquimedes Caminero in the 10th. This is where the fun begins though. Brandon Philips leads off the inning with a double, before being sac bunted to third by Todd Frazier. That brought up veteran slugger Joey Votto who knocked in an RBI game winning single to center field. The Reds now sit 2-1 on the season, and will host Saint Louis this weekend.
Win - Burke Badenhop (1-0)
Loss - Aequimedes Caminero (0-1)

Series 2 Recap
Reds Walk-Off in Game 2, Hit back-to-back Homers
Cincinnati,OH - After losing game 1 to the Saint Louis Cardinals, the Reds looked to bounce back behind rookie pitcher Micheal Lorenzen. Making his first ever big league start Mike said he was nervous, but after the first few pitches went over the plate, he was fine and just imagined it as another game. Lorenzen pitched a good game, putting the Reds in a position to win. He threw 5 and two thirds innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. He isn't a big strikeout pitcher and that showed today only getting 2 k's. However, he got into a jam in the 6th, with guys on 2nd and 3rd and both runners would score to put the Reds up 3-2. Jumbo Diaz came in and got the final out of the inning. Tony Cingrani allowed the game tying home run to take Lorenzen out of the decision. After that Cingrani settled down and pitched 3 scoreless innings on his way to the victory. Jamie Garcia pitched for the Red Birds, and had a solid first inning, but after that it went down hill. In the second Joey Votto and Todd Frazier hit back to back homers. Philips also hit an RBI double in the fifth inning of the ball game. Advance to the ninth inning with the game tied, and Brandon Philips gets yet another 1 out base knock. Devin Mesoraco then SAC bunted Philips to second which worked out because Todd Frazier hit a base knock up the middle to win the game for the Reds.
Win - Tony Cingrani (1-0)
Loss -Matt Belisle (0-1)
Save - N/A

The Cardinals bats were on fire from the get go, scoring 1 run in the first, and never looked back busting out for 14 hits. Jon Jay had 3 hits, with a double and a home run going for an RBI. He also crossed the plate twice.
Win - John Lackey (1-0)
Loss - Anthony De Sclafani (0-1)

Johnny Cueto vs Lance Lynn was the pitching match-up to watch this series, and they did not disappoint. Cardinals' Lance Lynn went for seven innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits, while Reds' Johnny Cueto went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits. Todd Frazier hit a solo homer, but it would not be enough as Matt Holliday's two run homer in the third was enough to lift the Red Birds to win the game, and the series.
