Congrats on the big win. I can honestly say in all my years of playing this game I don't remember ever having a perfect season. Hopefully you can do it for me.

#1 West Virginia (20-0) vs. Notre Dame (13-6)
Edmund P. Joyce Center
Notre Dame, IN
January 26th, 2029
Top-ranked West Virginia (20-0, 7-0) won their 20th game of the season in 20 tries this evening as they came back from a small halftime deficit to defeat Notre Dame 71-61.
Notre Dame (13-6, 4-3) led 31-28 at halftime as they had effectively bottled up WVU's shooters and kept the Mountaineers' perimeter scorers from getting it going. However, in the second half the Mountaineers changed their strategy and really began to prioritize getting the basketball into Nile Stevenson's and O.J. Palmer's hands. It paid off as both had a great second half and the Mountaineers controlled the boards in their 10-point win.
West Virginia's control of the glass was decisive as they outrebounded Notre Dame 44-23. The Mountaineers had a poor shooting outing as they only shot 29/73 (40%) from the field, but they racked up a ton of offensive rebounds and Stevenson and Palmer were able to get some put-backs.
Stevenson totaled a double-double for the Mountaineers with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Palmer just missed out on a double-double of his own as he ended with 19 points and eight rebounds.
Senior guard Noah Rios led Notre Dame with 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists while fellow guard Kris Warden added 10 points.
West Virginia will face DePaul Wednesday in their next matchup.

#1 West Virginia (21-0) vs. DePaul (6-15)
Allstate Center
Rosemont, IL
January 30th, 2030
Top-ranked West Virginia (21-0, 8-0) easily blew out DePaul (6-15, 1-7) this evening 72-50 to earn their eighth Big East Conference win of the season. West Virginia led from wire-to-wire in this one as the game was never in doubt.
The Mountaineers held DePaul scoreless from beyond the arc (0/8) and outrebounded the Blue Demons 42-26. West Virginia did not have a great night shooting the ball, either, as they only shot the basketball at a 39% clip from the field (27/69) and 7/25 (28%) from three-point range, but it was enough.
"We settled too easily for jump shots on the offensive end of the floor, but we played strong defense and were able to get out of here with a win," explained West Virginia head coach James Frizzell in his team's post-game press conference.
Senior Nile Stevenson was the leading man for the Mountaineers as he racked up 16 points, six rebounds, and three blocks. Fellow big man O.J. Palmer tallied a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while junior point guard Fred Joiner was not far off from a double-double himself as he totaled 11 points, three rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Armondo Whelchel also added 12 points and four rebounds.
6'11" junior center Lacedrick Wingate was DePaul's leading scorer as he ended the game with 10 points, eight rebounds, and a pair of blocks.
West Virginia will host Villanova next on February 2nd. The Wildcats had a rough non-conference experience this year, but have really turned it around since conference play began as they are currently third in the Big East standings with a 7-1 conference record.

WVU Coliseum
Morgantown, WV
February 2nd, 2030
Top-ranked West Virginia (22-0, 9-0) pulled away in the second half this afternoon as they turned a 10-point halftime lead into a 32-point romping of Villanova (11-8, 7-2) in a 91-59 victory that saw them outscore the Wildcats 48-26 in the second half.
O.J. Palmer was an unstoppable force for the Mountaineers as he put up career-highs in points and rebounds as he tallied 23 points, 21 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Palmer was unstoppable on both ends of the floor, with a lot of crucial defensive rebounds as well as clutch put-backs on the offensive end.
Nile Stevenson did not shoot well (3/12 FG), but still managed 10 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and a career-best-tying four blocks. Predrag Gabler also totaled 14 points and three assists while Fred Joiner stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Armondo Whelchel also came off the bench to contribute 13 points and four assists.
Senior forward Abe Kleiza led Villanova with 21 points and four rebounds. Fellow senior Drake Bain was the only other double-digit scorer for the Wildcats as he ended with 18 points.
The Mountaineers were dominant on the glass as they outrebounded the Wildcats 43-23 this afternoon. The Mountaineers have now totaled at least 42 rebounds in three consecutive games with an average margin of victory of 22 points in those games.
West Virginia will get one of their toughest test of the season in their next game as they host No. 3 Connecticut this coming Tuesday.

Next up with be the hardest game of the year to date. UConn is really good, though at least I'm at home, which will help. UL on the road later this season is going to be a real potential loss, though. I barely beat them at home and they have been on a roll all season.Comment

vs.
#5 Connecticut (19-4) vs. #1 West Virginia (23-0)
WVU Coliseum
Morgantown, WV
February 5th, 2030
In a battle of top five teams, the No. 1 team in the land showed their hand as West Virginia (23-0, 10-0) kept their perfect season alive with an 81-66 defeat of No. 5 Connecticut (19-4, 7-3) in Morgantown this evening.
The Huskies took the early lead, but the Mountaineers seized the lead for good with 6:50 left in the first half after Armondo Whelchel made one of the greatest individual plays you'll ever see with a huge block of Ralfeal Horton's straight-away three-pointer, which lead to a fastbreak thunderous dunk on the other end to give the Mountaineers a 22-21 lead. The Mountaineers would go on a run for the remainder of the half to take a 39-28 halftime lead.
O.J. Palmer was magnificent for West Virginia in the first half as he shot 8/8 from the field and totaled 16 points. He would cool off in the second half, but would still end with 18 points and four rebounds for the game. Armondo Whelchel was also spectacular in the first half for WVU as he totaled 13 points, five rebounds, and shot 3/3 from three-point range. He would end the game with 20 points and seven rebounds.
Nile Stevenson stepped up big in the second half after struggling in the first half (1/7 FG) as he ended with 18 points and eight rebounds. Fred Joiner struggled with turnovers (6) and with shooting (2/9 FG) at point guard for the Mountaineers, but still ended the game with 13 points, three rebounds, five assists, and four steals as he shot 8/9 from the free throw line.
Connecticut's veteran starting lineup (five seniors) played well. Forward Donovan Rogers scored a game-high 17 points to go along with eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals to lead the Huskies. Maris Archibald added 16 points and three rebounds while junior Matthew Bowden came off the bench to score 11.
West Virginia will hit the road next Saturday as they will face 11-13 Pittsburgh in the annual "Backyard Brawl".

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Yeah, I was surprised. They're really right there with me ratings-wise (only 1 OVR point worse). Of course, it was in Morgantown, so that was definitely a factor. They competed well early, but kind of tailed off towards the end of the half.Comment
