Re: Coach K...(Rob11) JU Dolphins (NCAA Basketball 09)
It was a big win for us. Lipscomb was 13-4 coming in, but their non-conference schedule wasn't anywhere near as challenging as the one we had to go through. Their biggest win came against Texas A&M who isn't ranked (not sure if they were ranked when they played them).
But in the season preview before I started season 2, Lipscomb was projected to finish 2nd in the A-Sun. JU was projected to finish 5th!!......after making it to the finals of the A-Sun tournament, we just got no respect there. But I guess I can understand because we lost 2 senior starters and our top freshman who decided to transfer at the end of the year. And no one knew our CURRENT freshman class would be playing so well this early in the year. ....but still...5th?? Yeah, we are playing with a chip on our shoulder and we come into conference play with something to prove. Gotta shut those critics up!"Basketball is my favorite sport

Re: Coach K...(Rob11) JU Dolphins (NCAA Basketball 09)
Thanks! This is how I will give updates on whats going on nationally, outside the Atlantic Sun. I am not sure if I will keep it with the dialogue tho....that may be alittle too much for you all to read.....I don't know, I haven't decided yet. I just put it out there to see how it would look if I did create some dialogue. I was attempting to make it read like you were actually watching an actual TV broadcast.
But my dynasty thread will be a mixture of national media coverage (associated press, college gameday crew, etc...) and local media coverage (mainly by Robb, the JU insider :wink. You will get the jist of what I am trying to accomplish the more I post updates.
Thanks for reading!"Basketball is my favorite sport

The Jacksonville Dolphins followed up an impressive win against Lipscomb with a disappointing loss to Campbell last night. Ben Smith followed up a career scoring night with a dreadful 4-17 shooting performance against the Fighting Camels. Ben Hinton was able to pick up the slack for JU, but it was not enough however as the Camels were able to hang on for their 16th win of the season. Campbell shooting guard Cole Dewey hit a three pointer that would put his team ahead by 5 and sealed the victory with 8 seconds left to play.
The Dolphins (11-8) will return home and look to bounce back against last year's Atlantic Sun Tournament champion, Belmont.

Wow, Belmont at 16-4. Surprising.
This is looking good, so good luck onwards! It's nice to see the sudden influx of college basketball legacies on here.Comment

Re: Coach K...(Rob11) JU Dolphins (NCAA Basketball 09)
JU still unable to figure
out Bruins
Ben Smith and the Dolphins struggle to get the ball in the
basket against Belmont
(Jacksonville, FL) -- It is safe to say that the Belmont Bruins simply have the JU Dolphins' number when it comes to basketball. The Dolphins dropped their 10th straight game to Belmont last night in an ugly 73-58 defeat. This is the 4th straight loss to Belmont for Kevin Roberts who is currently in his 2nd year as Head Coach of the Dolphins. It what was supposed to be a down year for a very young Belmont team (9-10 coming into the game) and a supprisingly good year for Jacksonville (which has included 2 wins vs ranked opponents). None of that seemed to matter however as Jacksonville continues to struggle against this team no matter how both of their seasons are going at the time.
"I don't really have anything to say. I'm shocked, really...I am shocked that we gave such a piss poor effort out there tonight. It's extremely disappointing and extremely frustrating to lose the way we did tonight. And it's unacceptable...and I will not have it on my watch. If there's anybody who's not on board with what we are trying to build here, they can get the hell away from me," said Roberts to a reporter after the game.
Roberts did not allow any of his players to talk with the media and was seen kicking a chair on his way into the locker room. One can only wonder what was said in that locker room.
As for the game, JU got off to a very slow start and missed on some key opportunities to pull away early from Belmont who was struggling early as well. Jonny Rice nailed a 3 pointer as time expired in the 1st half that would put Belmont ahead by 6 at halftime. The Bruins never looked back. They led by as many as 22 in the 2nd half thanks largely due to a string of 3 pointers that simply killed any momentum that JU started to build. Ben Smith scored 17 for the Dolphins (although he was 1-5 from behind the arc). Rice finished with a game high 21 points for Belmont who improved to 10-10 on the year.

Krob, you said it, Belmont has your number. It's tough to read that knowing how disappointed you are. Do you play them again in the regular season or is your only chance to see them is the conference tourney?Comment

Re: Coach K...(Rob11) JU Dolphins (NCAA Basketball 09)
man that was a tough loss. The game wasn't even really close after halftime. I can't seem to get any consistency out of my team. We do play them again at their place late in the season.
Funny thing is, the real Dolphins haven't beaten Belmont since the 2004 season. They've lost 6 straight against them with their last defeat in the A-Sun championship game last year (irrily similar to my 1st season).... Looks like I am just continuing the streak..."Basketball is my favorite sport

Re: Coach K...(Rob11) JU Dolphins (NCAA Basketball 09)
The more frustrating part is that this Belmont team isn't even as good as the one I faced last season. They are starting 2 sophmores and a Freshman center who is rated 58. Atleast we didn't lose by 20 this time...something I couldn't say in our 3 meetings in season 1. I guess I am making progress.
We have about 5 or 6 games before we play them again. I am not going to worry about it...I can't anyways. I have to get this team back on track. Our next game is on the road against the #1 team in the conference (once again) ETSU."Basketball is my favorite sport
