Seth Curry shocks the world, as debut leads to upset.

The Liberty Flames rally from being down 16 in the second half, to hold on the biggest upsets in this early year. Seth Curry scored 31 points including 2 big 3s in the last 2 minutes to ice the game for the Flames. Curry scored 23 points in the 2nd half and pretty much took over. But the main reason for the upset would be in part to the half time adjustments made by Coach Rogers.

I just wanted to get more defensive pressure on the Aztecs main players. They had way to many free looks at the basket early on and I just needed to quit giving all that up.

Bulldogs Hot Shooting Too Much For Flames to Handle.

Liberty fell behind by to much early in the first half thanks in large part to Fresno State shooting 60% in the first half. Seth Curry was shut down for the most part, so it was a real struggle for the Flames to get anything going. A balanced attack by Fresno State was an important key to this big blowout win. 4 different people had 10 points.

Big Second Half Sparks Flames Past Portland.

The game was tied at 18 at halftime in a very ugly first half. But the Flames really got the ball rolling as Seth Curry and company began to play really good defense and make their shots to pull away from the Portland Pilots. Seth is really starting to become more of a contributor and not just a scorer, which will be good when the shots don't fall.

Big Second Half Propels Liberty past Weber St.

Seth Curry and crew lead the attack against Weber State, as they pulled away late in the 2nd half to win by 13. Curry had a solid stat line and decided to be a full team player as he scored 18 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Anthony Smith contributed with 12 points, as now the Flames will take on the host Bruins.

Bruins escape but Curry shines in final of tourney.

In a game that was dominated early by the freshman out of Charlotte, the Bruins managed to hit the big shots late to escape the grasp of the Flames. Seth Curry led all scorers with 33 points, but could not get the final 2 needed to push the Flames past the Bruins. Anthony Smith had a chance to win the game at the buzzer but his shot went in and out and the Flames fell to the Bruins in heartbreaking fashion.

                November 17, 2007: Liberty 65 East Carolina 54

Anderson Provides Big Lift off Bench for Liberty.

Coming off a disappointing loss to UCLA earlier in that week, Liberty returned to their neck of the woods by traveling to Greenville, North Carolina to take on the East Carolina Pirates. Seth Curry had another high scoring night, but the true star was Jeremy Anderson who came off the bench and hit some big 3s to push the Flames past the Pirates.

UPSET CITY BABY: Liberty Shocks UK in Rupp Arena

Their is something special about that young freshman out of Charlotte Christian High School. Seth Curry, who came so close to upsetting UCLA, managed to pull off a major upset in the likes of Kentucky. But he was not alone, Anthony Smith provided a nice 24 points to go along with Seth Curry's 31. Anthony Smith had the go ahead layup with 33.1 seconds but Kentucky did have their chance. But a missed jumper and a missed putback later sealed the deal for the Flames.

                  November 27,2007: Liberty 63 Longwood 67

                  Liberty Upset On Home Opener.

This game was just ugly, Curry could not make a shot and the supporting cast just allowed way to many points to be scored inside. The Longwood point guard could get to the hoop whenever he felt like it, and Longwood nailed some pretty clutch shots. No point and crying blasphemy when the opposing team just comes into your gym and outplays you, this will be a great learning tool for this young Liberty squad, and quite the humbling experience for coach Rogers.

                  December 1, 2007: Liberty 71 Niagara 45

Liberty Bounces Back In a Big Way.

After the embarassing loss at home earlier in the week, the Flames showed no signs of letting it happen again against Niagara. Early on the Flames jumped out and played some excellent unselfish basketball to push their lead to 17 by halftime. They pretty much put the car into cruise control throughout the 2nd half to pull away to an easy win.

Flames Struggle Hard Against the Fighting Camels.

This game was a just a joke all around for the Flames, between the 17 turnovers and the 29% FG shooting, it is easy to see why the Flames lost this game. Seth Curry, the leading scorer could not do anything, and that made it all the way down to his teammates. Just an ugly game, but Liberty will have a chance at a rematch in two or so weeks from now.

                          Flames Upset Hokies in Blackburg!

After the stinker against Campbell last week, Coach Rogers spent all weekend coming up with a scheme to get his team going again. And well, this upset, they did not just rely on Curry, it was a whole team effort. Liberty had 4 players score in double digits, as they knock off the Hokies at Virginia Tech. "The team is very young, sometimes this immaturity is awful, as you saw at Campbell, but sometimes it is great, as you saw against Kentucky and today" said coach Rogers after the game. Liberty only has 2 more games before conference play opens up, so this was a very big win.

Assists: 7, Malcolm Delaney, Virginia Tech

The Flames are gaining serious interest out of 3 star recruit OJ Youmans, as now only Davidson and Elon stand in the way of this small forward from High Point, NC.

A scholarship was also offered to a 3 star center Cedric Nubine out of Alabama, but right now it is way to early for any progress to be determined.

Liberty Gains Revenge Against The Fighting Camels.

Campbell beat the Flames 2 weeks prior to this matchup, and for some reason they scheduled 2 games this season, and this allowed for Liberty to get its revenge. And that is exactly what they did as the Flames were just clicking on all cylinders the whole night as they pulled away in the 2nd half and walked to an easy 22 point victory. Nathan Campbell had a milestone night as he had his first double double in his career.

Liberty Holds On as They are to Much for the Patriots.

This was the final tune up game before conference play for the Flames, and all things considered, Liberty is ready. One big thing that is noticeable is how Seth Curry is beginning to miss more shots but Liberty keeps winning, it is a great sight to behold. Liberty jumped out to a 7 point lead at halftime against George Mason, but the Patriots managed to scrap back and had a chance to win the game at the end. But their best player, John Vaughan, missed an 18 footer as the buzzer expired, and Liberty won another game.

Curry Put Up Triple Double To Win Conference Opener.

While this game lacked the excitement you would expect from a conference opener, Seth Curry did provide some fireworks by putting together a terrific night. Asheville had no answer for the Flames, as Liberty won this game going away.

Classless Eagles Run Up Score Late.

While it may seem like a blow out, know that the Flames were down by 6 with 3 to go, but then the fouls weren't being called and the shots weren't falling, so Winthrop pulled away. But even with a double digit lead with under a minute to go, the Eagles still thought it was okay to shoot 3s, so a big **** you to Winthrop. Also, Liberty was a joke behind the 3 point line as they did not make a single one.
