      Clemson gets their man!

      Clemson, SC

Jai Morris a Winston-Salem, NC native has been brought in to lead the Tigers after former coach Oliver Purnell retired following another disappointing season for the Tigers. Morris has been one of the brightest young stars in the assistant coaching pool for 8 years now. He was the guards specialist for the Miami Heat for 2 years and then the Director of Basketball Operations in Wyoming for 2 years where he scouted talent and recruited local players.

During his time at Syracuse University Jai was responsible for the guards and recruiting. Most recently he is priased for his work with Eric Devendorth and Johnny Flynn, two rising stars with high NBA potential.

Morris has been a vital recruiter in the mid west and the north east and now he has his chance to recruit and coach in his backyard as the North Carolina native is very accustomed to the high energy and explosive game of basketball in the ACC and the Carolinas. He is now faced with the biggest challenge of all, taking the Tigers to ACC glory.

PF Trevor Booker (84 ovr, 6' 10, JR)

        Clemson's Jai Morris

JM- Thank you guys from coming out today to the press conference.I would like to start off by saying thank you, thank you to the school and the loyal fans for choosing me to lead the program to the head of the ACC. I will no let you down. I would also like to say thank you to my family for supporting me in everything I do. I have spent the past few years in the harsh cold of NY and now I am glad to be in the golfing capital of the world where I can relax and enjoy my off time, while still being competitive and in control of one of the most prestigious teams in the south east.
        Any questions?

Reporter: Coach, whats your outlook for this year?

JM- We have a young team with a tremendous amount of talent, I think the sky is the limit on where we can go with this year. I think the team will ride on the senior leadership of K.C. Rivers and by the dog days of February we will be in a great spot to take the ACC and an NCAA bid.

Reporter: You have been invited into 2 preseason tournaments and have scheduled many new games, what kind of record do you except to have by January and ACC time?

JM- We have a rough schedule. I have a lot of connections so I wanted to call a few favors for this year, we have many big time teams coming into the Little John Coliseum early in the year and I think we will leave with some Ws.

Reporter: Tell us more about you're two assistant coaches.

Jm- Well first we have a guy who has been with me during my time in Syracuse. He is a great scout for talent and a wonderful guy to have around. My assistant head coach Orlando Diaz. He is a young guy, only 26 and has been with me for the past 4 years. My other man is my guru, mister Isaac Nahara, he has been around basketball for a long time. We met when I was working with the Heat. He has bounced around the pro game for 20 years now and at his age of 57 he should be a head coach somewhere, but since he is a dear friend he has decided to help me get this team off on the right foot. We will be running a stack offensive which is vert up tempo and we look to run over our competition with athletic shooters like K.C. Rivers.

Re: The Legacy of Jai Morris(CH 2k8)

Clemson wins the first 2 games of the NIT Tip-Off!

                Clemson beats San Francisco 86 - 73.
Trevor Booker has 22 and 13 to lead the Tigers past an undersized Dons team.

                Clemson holds off Grambling 87-86.
Oglesby and Stitt hit late 3s to keep the Tigers unbeaten.

Press Conference regarding the first 2 games:
Jai Morris- We played terribly, but this team is young and are struggling to learn this new system. The first game we beat the Dons by throwing it down low and letting Trevor walk all over their bigs. When we played Grambling, we faced a team that was as tall and as fast as we were, and we almost left with out heads hung. I have to give it to those boys they played tremendously and without the great play of Demontez Stitt down the wire they would have walked out with a upset.

I think we can come back hard against Siena on Monday.

                        Clemson recruiting update

Clemson has three new targets on their radar, coach Jai Morris is looking to retool and upgrade their guard play. Clemson has dropped out of the Olli Pugh sweepstakes as he is a full Georgia lean.

                        ***** PG Bernie Myles
The #8 player in the nation Bernie Myles has been a force in Maryland. Clemson has been perusing him and his teammate Michael Beckley, both NBA prospects.

                        ***** SG Wes Maki-Tulokas
The #7 SG in the 2009 class, Wes is a baller. A Bit undersized at 6' 3, the Utah guard has been impressing coaches with his 3point shooting ability(43% in ABL play) and his 22 ppg. Arguably the best guard in the midwest Wes will likely be an ACC player next year.

The best forward in California. Think about that, the best forward in California will end up on the east coast next year. The 6'9 PF from Fresno has major offers from Clemson and Duke.

I had the same problems as you with that kind of box score. Unfortunately, it has to be done by hand. Just paste the code into the posting box like normal, then hit preview post, and it will explode like you see it now. Then just go back into the posting back and delete the spaces in between to make it neat. Its a little tiring, but it comes out looking really nice. Nice job with this so far.

Clemson advances to the NIT Tip-Off Final, Remains Unbeaten.

Behind the hot hands of K.C. Rivers(24 points) and Oglesby (21 points), the Tigers run over Richmond 102 - 76. It was a lopsided game where both teams shot over 70 shots and at halftimes it was Clemson 59 to the Spiders 27. Coach Jai Morris was unhappy about the teams second half performance, "I think we played smart and hard the first half, but in the second half we played sloppy and inconsistent. Out bigs didn't play defense and our guards didn't hustle. If we keep up like this we will have a lot of trouble in conference play.
