Clemson too much for the Tide
"We came in ready, we weren't going to look ahead Sunday, we said Alabama is a top 15 team and it will be a dogfight!" It was until the second half. A 51 - 25 second half sealed the fate for the Crimson Tide, who were lead by senior Ronald Steele, as the Tigers earned their 15 win of the year.
Stats:
Clemson
Stitt 37 points, 9 assist, 13-18 from the floor
Rivers 17 points 11 rebounds 7 steals
Potter 18 points
Booker 8 points, fouled out
Baciu 8 points, fouled out
Notes: Stitt scored 26 of the teams 51 second half points.
Crimson Tide
Steele 11 points, 9 turnovers, 4 fouls
Gee 17 points
Hillman 13 points
Jamison 9 points, 9 boards
Green 1 points, 13 boards(Most late in the game where I was jacking 3s for fun)
Notes: Alabama got almost no help off the bench, terrible depth for a top 25 team.

"One for the Ages", "Game of The YEAR!", "No Defense"
The Tigers came from being down 12 with just a few minutes remaining to pull off the 6 point win. Led by Senior K.C. Rivers Clemson kept pace behind the high powered offense of the Tarheels. An emotional K.C. Rivers said it best, "We played full speed all night long and we kept up, pulled away and stormed the court!" It was his last chance to beat UNC at home, a promise he made to himself 4 years ago when stepping into LittleJohn for the first time. 1st year head coach Jai Morris gave us this quick quote, "Wow, Up tempo and exciting. I give it to Roy and his boys because they are good, damn good. They were the best team we have played all year and deserve their ranking, its still great to get that win!"
Stats:
Clemson
Stitt 11 points, 9 assist
Rivers 25 points, 6 assist, 5 steals (6-6 FT)
Smith 6 points, 9 rebounds
Booker 22 points, 7 rebounds
Baciu 10 points, 14 rebounds
Notes:
Potter had 29 points and 5 rebounds. He played most of the game as Tanner Smith went down with an injury.
Tarheels
Lawson 14 points, 6 assist
Green 16 points, 5 turnovers
Ginyard 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assist
Hansborough 16 points, 7 boards
Thompson 10 points, 1 rebound
Notes: Ed Davis had 10 points, Larry Drew II played 8 minutes and had 2 points.

Re: The Legacy of Jai Morris(CH 2k8)
ESPN.com
Clemson Mid-Season report
Coach Jai Morris recently held a close door press conference for family, fans, and university students. Being the #1 team in the country it was all smiling faces and happy comments but the coach said something things that really shook the fan base and many belive these things are what will become a foundation for the next big ACC program. In only half a season Morris has turned Clemson into a scary team to play, in their last few games they have come from behind to win(Louisville, UConn, UNC), at the same time "David" has taken down perennial "Goliaths" one by one. Next week they have a shot at another in #21 Duke.
"We want to be the face of the ACC for the next decade to come, when you see ACC on team you see Orange and Purple, when you think ACC you see Clemson, when you see the top 25 you will see the Tigers year in and year out. Its not longer the boys in blue or the Devils, its not going to be a team from North Carolina anymore. Its our turn. All I have heard all my life is how Duke or Carolina is the best, or how Wake and State are the team to beat. You never hear about the rest of the ACC on tv, trust me you will now."
There have been a few teams this year with as many quality wins as Clemson has, 7, and thats Georgetown(5), Syracuse (5), UCLA (5), and Maryland(4). No other team has more than 2. Any team out of the Top 10 has been up and down this year with the new NBA entry rule allowing more and more quality players across the board most teams are competitive even at smaller schools. Clemson has stood out all year and now they have a chance to run the table, of course in a competitive conference like the ACC is highly unlikely many experts will agree Clemson is the only team in the country that has a shot to do it.
In other Clemson news Jai Morris has listed the SF starting spot as open and will see how Smith and Potter do in the next two weeks before awarding the spot to either of them.
Something is brewing in South Carolina, and the way things are going its going to be a roller coaster to March. Morris came in and on Day 1 laid out a 10 year plan with the AD and the Boosters. Jai Morris has shanken the foundations and pour some concrete back in its place.Comment

The Tigers win again.
The men in orange came out strong against Florida St, taking advantage of their overmatched opponet soon and often in a game where speed was the X factor. Freshman center Soloman Alabi, who has been averaging over 10 points a game and the leading canidate for Freshman of the Year was shut down by also freshman center Catalin Baciu. The two 7 footers battled down low and on the glass for more than half the night before Alabi fouled out while trying to draw a charge from Demontez Stitt, who had a very big night.
Stat leaders:
Clemson
Stitt 50 points, 4 assist, 6 steals, 4 fouls

Tigers Grant hurt in practice.
The Clemson Tigers have lost Jerai Grant for an unknown amount of time, after taking a hard fall while trying to guard teammate Trevor Booker in practice. Jerai didn't comment on the incident but he seemed to be very disappointed with the whole situation. The sophomores playing time has dwindled under new coach Jai Morris, but so has his preformance. In last nights outing against Florida State Grant only played in one minute of the contest and fouled Toney Douglas at midcourt trying to steal the ball.
"He has been having a rough time this year, he came in the season with a lot to prove and it just hasn't come together. He is a great kid and we have been working hard with his defense to get him ACC ready but so far this season has been a bust, especially with such a shallow bench his minutes have been key. He is a burst of energy off the bench but sometimes just misguided on the court." Said head coach Jai Morris.
A lot of fans have been grumbling that his performance has hurt more then helped and with a recruiting class with 3 PF/Sfs coming in Grants minutes will be around the same, if not less, next year. Many believe that Towson or Maryland East Shore might be a destination close to home he could transfer to, but no word from anyone on if the rumors are true.Last edited by smidger9; 06-13-2009, 08:21 PM.Comment

Re: The Legacy of Jai Morris(CH 2k8)
Tigers Jai Morris talks about his team and the next months expectations.
It has been a great ride so far, I really give it to my boys for playing hard every game. When I looked at the schedual last summer I thought, man this will be a tough year; I never knew our boys would come to play like they have. Those 2 a days in August really pay off at the end of each game when the other team is too tired to think our boys are still playing full speed. I've got 8 of the best kids in the Nation and I am very proud of them. To look back we have beaten 9 teams in the top 25, which includes our win over then #1 UNC. We have the highest rated offense in the NCAA, no team can put up points like us. We hold an advantaged in almost ever statistical category over every team in NCAA. We have proven we can win against anyone on any night, you know why? Because we have talent and we have heart and together its a wonderful combination that has propelled us to #1. Now all we need is some defense, haha.
Notes: David Potter has won the starting SF job, he has showed flashes of brilliance. Tanner Smith has tremendous ability and great potential but he is better off the bench with all his energy and defense. Next year will be fun with Potter, Smith, and Beckley fighting for PT. It will make for exciting practices.
Quick look at the Tigers schedule for February:
2 Boston College (9-9)
7 #24 Virginia (15-3)
10 #2 UNC (18-2)
14 Georgia Tech (11-7)
16 NC St. (7-9)
19 Florida St (11-10)
27 #15 Miami (14-3)
Recruiting Update:
Scout.com
The Tigers of Clemson inked 3 big names on Signing Day in December, but here in the Dog Days of February they are still fighting for a few more stars to add to an already impressive list. If they ink Neil Worthington and Wes Maki-Tulokas it could be one of the best classes ever, star wise. They look to add a player to every position this off season, which is great considering they only have 8 players currently with a depleted bench and look to lose only 1 player to graduation but a possible loss of bench warmer Jerai Grant. Alexis Raji and Mickey Beckley are already considered two of the biggest players in the class, Schwartz is a great PF from California with unlimited potential. They also look to add a few more names:
5 Star JC SF
Neil Worthington, San Bernadino, Ca.
A Big time scorer and athletic swingman from Cali, not a great defender but Clemson doesn't play defense. Has great b-ball IQ and potential. Average size for his position. Needs a good career to a NBA prospect, but has some scouts raising eyebrows with his scoring.
Top Schools:
Clemson Very High(Offered)
Arizona High
UCLA Medium
5 star SR SG
Wes Maki-Tulokas, Provo, UT (Mr. Basketball)
Elite player in this class. #7 overall player with great scoring ability (most ppg in ABL) and one of the best defenders. Not the best size only 6'3 but still has the ability to create his own shot and get around taller defenders. Will be used as a PG/SG combo in college.
Top Schools:
Clemson Very High (Offered)
Arizona Very High (Offered)
UCLA Medium (Offered)
Kansas Low
UNLV No Interest (Offered)
4 star SR PF
Waitari Diakhate, Honolulu, HI (Mr. Basketball)
The best PF in the class Diakhate has very little interest by most school due to his lack of size and his low potential. He played against undersized and less talented players in HS and was not an ABL player because his lack of ability. Diakhate gets the be #1 because the weak class at PF and C. Clemson is looking at him because he can run the court and push the ball in their up-tempo style and rebound on the fly. They look to offer him a scholarship to replace possible transferring PF Jerai Grant.
Top Schools:
Arizona High
Clemson High
UCLA Low
Hawaii Low(Offered)
3 star SR Pg
Jamie Evtimov, Atlanta, GA
One of the best assist men in the ABL, Evtimov is looking to improve his stock already with two low major offers he has Clemson showing a lot of interest and they will have an extra scholarship at the end of the year. Jamie has great skills (A+), solid Defense (A) and high Potential (A). Gets a knock for being 6' and low offensive awareness, but makes up for it with great in game play. 6 assist a game in ABL and 13 points a game, a diamond in the rough by may scouts if he can be molded just right in the next 4 years.

This one was a close contest until the halfway point of the second half where the Tigers pulled away, a 30 points lead at one point. Catalin Baciu had one of his best games of the year.
