In the opening round of the NCAA tournament the SCST Bulldogs were pitted once again agasint in-state rival Wofford. And once again the Bulldogs knocked off the Terriers. It was no contest as BJ Anderson and Channing Stiggers both lead the game with double digit points.

They only 3 losses and one of them was to a team that went undefeated and the rest of the teams were in the top 10.

In the second round of the NCAA tournament the Bulldogs were set to face storied Kentucky the 7 seed out of the SEC. The Bulldogs started the game hot with BJ Anderson hitting a 3 from almost midcourt as the Wildcats defense had SCSt low on the shot clock. The game would be much of the same as at half time the Bulldogs were up 49 to 34 and would win by 39 points. The Wildcats were without starting point guard DeAndre Liggins who was the leading scorer of the team.

The Bulldogs of South Carolina State are in the Final FOUR! For the first time in school history the Bulldogs and coach Rob Stone has found themselves in Dallas, Texas to play in the final four. They had to run through UNC and Kansas to do it, and those were no easy task. Channing Stiggers was the big man in the middle weighing down the offense and leading the team to the final four.

The miracle run is over! The South Carolina State Bulldogs were finally stopped in the Final Four by the UNLV Rebels. Coach Stone had this to say after the game, " We played out hearts out this season and I can't look back at a single game where we could have been any better. We just ran out of gas down the strectch. We are a team full of young guys so we will be back next year and better than ever!"

                          Recruiting Update:

SCST brought in a 3 man class, after losing PG Jaron McFadden and PF Jamie Temple the Bulldogs hit the trail hard to find their replacements. Coach Stone brought in a few big names off the map. 5 star SF Parker Nash, a juco from Arkansas, 4 star PF Byron Jackette from Alabama, and 3 star PG Clayton Polakovic from Germany.

Lets get to know the new guys:
                          5* SF Parker Nash
                          Little Rock, Arkansas
                          6'8 190 Sophomore

Nash was the biggest name in the Juco scene, he had a high pro buzz coming out but didn't get the right kinda scholarships in season. He held an offer from Texas and Florida but committed to play for Coach Stone on the final weekend. And excellent shooter and rebounder Nash will be a great offensive addition to the team.

                          4* PF Byron Jackette
                          Tuscaloosa, Alabama
                          7' 230 Freshman
                          Mr. Basketball (AL)
                          Overall 70 Pos 11

Coming into the first week of recruiting coach Stone wanted to replace the mobile Temple with a bigger sized rebounder. Byron is a big inside threat to pick up rebounds and has a good inside scoring ability. It will be hard to stop SCST with two 7+ footers inside. Coach Stone will need to change the pace of the team to match the speed of the big men but he has three runners to handle the ball handling. Byron was a big threat in ABL play where he averaged 15 points and 11 rebounds.

                          3* PG Clayton Polakovic
                          Germany
                          6'5 170 Freshmen

Clayton is a big bodied point guard who is all speed. He has the quickness to run the point and burn guys off the dribbling. He has A+ speed, in the upper 90s and has an excellent passing ability, A. Isnt the best shooter, only a B but his role will be reduced to passing and creating in transition, unlike BJ Anderson who is an assassin.

Your roster is loaded.. No reason why you shouldn't challenge for a NCAA Championship. Nash looks like he should be a absolute stud.. Pretty nice to have a 80 Overall player coming of your bench as well. Not even the 2-time NCAA Champion's UC Davis Aggies have that..

I'm hoping this season will be the time I mix talent with coaching, I keep pulling in high level talent but I just cant win the big dance. Its nice to have two 7 footers on roster, especially since they both are good rebounders.
