GAME 23: New Jersey Nets (12-11) @ Atlanta Hawks (15-7)

The Hawks keep their roll goin' as they defeat the Nets. This is their fourth straight win in a row. They did it with the help of SG Joe Johnson (20 pts, 3 reb, 3 ast) and PF Josh Smith (15 pts, 14 reb, 6 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk). Smith, named the player of the game, claimed he's excited to keep this going on and claims that it's important that a team catches fire many times in the season and hopefully that fire keeps going on. SG Jamal Crawford (15 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl), sporting a twisted ankle injury, came out on to the court and still gave his team a tremendous boost. He's making a strong argument to why he should be the Sixth Man of the Year this year.

Next Game: The Hawks face off against the 13-11 (5-5 last ten games) Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies' SF Rudy Gay (15.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 0.8 apg) is sporting a sprained wrist and is also listed as 'day-to-day' like the Hawk's SG Jamal Crawford.

      GAME 24: Memphis Grizzlies (13-11) @ Atlanta Hawks (16-7)

Remember earlier in the season when fans were calling SF Marvin Williams (17 pts, 7 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk) out for being basically a terrible player? Well... we shouldn't be hearing from those naysayers anymore. At least, not any time soon. With SG Joe Johnson (12 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast, 1 stl) continuing his string of terrible games, shooting just 4-for-16 tonight, "Marvelous Marvin" got on his horse and rallied this team's offense. SF Rudy Gay (22 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast, 1 blk) scored 16 of his points in the first quarter, and after being dogged by Coach Mike Woodson, Marvin came back in the next quarter to shut Rudy Gay down to just two points. With that, the Hawks were able to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies by a large margin. Of course, he couldn't have done it without the player of the game C Al Horford (20 pts, 10 reb, 2 stl, 1 blk). Horford knew that JJ was in a slump, so he decided to be aggressive tonight as he shot 8-for-13 and made it to the line to shoot 7 free throw shots (4 of which he made). The injured SG Jamal Crawford (15 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast) also helped contribute with his offense off the bench.

To end their three-game home stand, the Hawks face off against the 13-12 Utah Jazz. They are 4-6 in the past ten games, but they have been nursing injuries to SF Kyle Korver (out with a broken nose for 1-2 weeks) and C Mehmet Okur (bothered by a broken finger and is listed as "day-to-day".)

          GAME 25:Utah Jazz (13-12) @ Atlanta Hawks (17-7)

After a 5-game winning streak, the Hawks experienced another loss in the Phillips Arena as the Utah Jazz put a beatdown on them. PG Deron Williams (51 pts, 4 reb, 10 ast) went 20-for-30 on the field, 6-8 from behind the three point line, and 5-for-5 from the free throw. What could be the closest thing to a 'perfect' night for any guard in the league, Deron flat out dominated his defender. Whether it be Bibby, Johnson, Crawford, or Evans. No one could stop him. On the bright side, the Hawks witnessed a solid performance from SG Joe Johnson (30 pts, 4 reb, 5 ast) who was slumping in the previous week. PF Al Horford (14 pts, 13 reb, 2 ast, 2 blk) also did every thing he could as he shot 7-for-8 on the field. However, his effort was in vain as the Hawks fell 114-98.

Yeah, man... nice observation. I didn't really notice that, but I noticed in real life the X-Factor is really Josh Smith. If he is no where to be found that night, then the game is no winnable.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. Just haven't had the time and have been busy with OOTP among other sports games... this is definitely not the end of the dynasty report as I end up playing a lot more games around March/April... sporadic updates will come sooner than that though.

Jeff Teague you mean, and no... when Bibby is in there, he is automatic when he is wide open. Jeff Teague is on a streak, but I play realistically... so Teague doesn't get too many minutes unless we're up by a lot. I'm about to play another game soon...

Haven't updated in a while, guys... sorry bout that. Have been caught up in school work, work, baseball news (damn Soriano accepted arbitration lol), and OOTP... I've been considering playing a lot of games lately... mostly Madden, NBA, MLB The Show, OOTP, Fight Night, College Hoops 2k8, etc... that's a lot of games to consider lol. So I think I'm going to stick with one sports title and I'll go with this one because I have a going Dynasty already... basically all I'm saying is... I'll be updating this more often within the next coming days.

                      GAME 26: Atlanta Hawks (17-8) @ Chicago Bulls (10-14)

The Hawks looked to bounce back from a disappointing loss against the Utah Jazz. Having found his groove in that game, however, SG Joe Johnson (44 pts, 2 reb, 3 ast, 1 stl) had a career night and was named the player of the game tonight as he was dominant throughout the whole game. Shooting 18-for-31 from the field, 4-8 from the three point range, Johnson made a strong push as to who the Hawks really needed in the tough situations. SG Jamal Crawford (20 pts, 3 reb, 4 ast) contributed some solid minutes off the bench. C Al Horford (11 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast) was held to just 5 rebounds as he looked very tired throughout the entire game. An impressive performance by rookie PG Jeff Teague (11 pts, 1 reb, 1 ast) as he shot 100% from the court... shooting 4-for-4, and making one 3-point shot.

Next Game: The Hawks continue their road trip against the struggling [7-21] Timberwolves. Johnson will look to stay hot as he squares up against rookie SG Wayne Ellington (9.5 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.0 apg).

                        GAME 27: Atlanta Hawks (18-8) @ Minnesota Timberwolves (7-21)

The Hawks keep it rolling on the road as they win their second straight game on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves also continue along the road of 'horror' as they continue along with their failing season. Speaking of continuing, SG Joe Johnson (34 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk) keeps his momentum up as he leads the Hawks to a victory while also being named the POTG; shooting 11-for-24 and 1-for-3 from behind the line. SF Marvin Williams (23 pts, 4 reb, 4 ast) also came away with a very satisfying performance as he was the Hawks' go-to guy early as Joe Johnson and SG Jamal Crawford (17 pts, 8 reb, 3 ast) struggled early. Surprisingly, PF Josh Smith (1 pt, 6 reb, 3 ast, 3 blk) was only held to 1 point throughout the whole night. He attempted 4 shots and obviously made none of them.

Minnesota did have C Al Jefferson (24 pts, 15 reb, 7 ast) going for them as he was the only one the Hawks could not find an answer for.

                            GAME 28: Atlanta Hawks (19-8) @ Denver Nuggets (16-12)

What appears to be one of the strangest games of the year so far, the Hawks defeated the Nuggets in what appeared to be a "lost cause" game... 129-128. With 3.4 seconds left in the clock and down by one point, SG Joe Johnson (35 pts, 5 reb, 6 ast, 1 stl) was double teamed by the Denver Nugget defenders. He quickly dished it off to cutting PF Josh Smith (13 pts, 7 reb, 1 blk) who slammed it down and was fouled by C Nene (11 pts, 10 reb, 2 blk)... Smith would make that foul shot to put the Hawks up by 2 with just a few ticks of the clock left. Game over, Denver... right? Nope! With 0.4 seconds left in the game clock, SG J.R. Smith (35 pts, 4 reb, 5 ast) shot up a three and missed... problem is... he was fouled by Joe Johnson. In a pressure situation, all J.R. Smith had to do was make two of them to tie it up... out of three of them, J.R. Smith only made one. So the Hawks came away with a win but in a very weird fashion. The game was definitely one of the most hardly fought all year as all the players were tired by the middle of the fourth quarter.

The Hawks had a lot of contributors in the win tonight even if they were down for most of the game. PG Mike Bibby (14 pts, 13 ast, 3 stl) and C Al Horford (19 pts, 16 reb) were the ones counted on, but POTG Joe Johnson was counted on down the stretch of the game - especially with the bad night of SG Jamal Crawford (11 pts, 2 ast, 1 stl) who shot only 3-for-15. Speaking of percentages, Joe Johnson shot an amazing 7-for-11 from beyond the arc. He would go on a back-to-back, basket-for-basket competition with SF Carmelo Anthony (30 pts, 11 reb, 3 ast) trading back to back threes FOUR times!

What head coach Mike Woodson promised the fans is now coming true. He said he'd have this team working on 3PT%, and it is finally showing up. Mike Woodson, regardless of how bad he's looked two or three years back... may be the top candidate for coach of the year this year. Only time will tell...

The Hawks will cap off their four-game road trip there and will look to keep their three-game winning streak going. The Pacers are 5-5 in their last 10 games and are without their star SF Danny Granger (29.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.1 bpg) who suffered a broken toe injury a couple days ago. PG T.J. Ford (15.2 ppg, 6.1 ast, 1.9 rpg) is also suffering a strained hamstring injury but is cleared to play the game.

                              GAME 29: Atlanta Hawks (20-8) @ Indiana Pacers (10-17)

This game was a blowout. The Hawks benched all of their starters by the fourth quarter and allowed the bench-warmers to play most of the fourth (in which they actually shut the Pacers down by 15 points). Jamal Crawford filled in for the struggling Joe Johnson by scoring 25 points off the bench. Surprisingly, this is the second consecutive game where Crawford recorded 8 rebounds. Crawford would later on be named the POTG. Joe Johnson was only 2-for-11 tonight. Al Horford showed that he can be as dominant as anyone on this team racking up 19 points and 7 rebounds while going to the line 13 times.

The Hawks played strong defense, and before the game, head coach Mike Woodson commented on it. He said he wants his team to limit the opponent to 20 points a quarter. Not just tonight, he said, but also for the rest of the season. "I don't believe it's an impossible task. We have all the right players to make this team into a championship competing team. So the next step, after improving our FT% and 3PT% is defense."

                                GAME 30: Cleveland Cavaliers (19-13) @ Atlanta Hawks (21-8)

The Hawks' most impressive win came tonight as they got their revenge against the team that knocked them out of the playoffs a season ago. In a game that came down to another scrubs vs. starters matchup in the fourth quarter, the Hawks defeated the Cavaliers in the biggest margin of victory so far this year. SG Jamal Crawford (24 pts, 7 ast, 1 stl) led the team in points scored as he was named the POTG. Even with PF Josh Smith (9 pts, 3 reb) in foul trouble throughout the night, later being fouled out with nine minutes left in the quarter, and being held to only 11 minutes, the rest of the Hawks' bigs stepped up. C Al Horford (9 pts, 8 reb, 2 blk), C Zaza Pachulia (5 pts, 6 reb), and PF Joe Smith (9 pts, 3 reb) turned up the heat as their fellow Hawk was benched for most of the night. In the fourth quarter, C Randolph Morris (10 pts, 3 reb, 1 blk) even had a solid night playing 11 minutes.

The Hawks have been absolutely unstoppable as of late. The team that people thought would give them fits absolutely could not handle them. Granted, the Hawks will face off against the Cavaliers again tomorrow, this time it's at Cleveland. In the beginning of the year, Woodson's team struggled with FT%, 3PT%, and defense. Tonight showed why Woodson should very well be the coach of the year. The Hawks tonight were 14-for-21 from the FT line (66%), 12-for-23 from behind the three pt. line (52%), and gave up only 86 points (Keep in mind that that isn't far from Woodson's goal of 20 points per quarter given up for his team). SF LeBron James (19 pts, 8 reb, 4 ast) was held in check by SF Marvin Williams (14 pts, 2 reb, 3 ast) throughout the whole night.

Next Game: The Hawks will yet again battle with the Cavaliers. This time they have one more loss in their loss column, sitting at 19-14. Can the Cavaliers stop the red hot Hawks? Speaking of red hot... the Hawks will don their alternate road jerseys tomorrow at Cleveland. This will be the second time they have used it so far (the first being against the most recent Chicago road game).
