    THE BATTLE OF THE BRONCOS!!!

    (1-3) VS (1-2)

    GAME RECAP

Santa Clara came to Boise coming off a disappointing 64-62 loss to #12 UCLA and like Boise State were looking to get things going in the right direction.

Neither team could build a lead in the 1st half as they trade basket for basket but it was BSU who would get the last shot of the half as S. Hicks hits the jumper to give BSU the 34-32 lead.

JR SG K. Foster would lead the way for SCU in the 2nd half as he hit 3/3 from 3pt to score a team high 16 pts, but a team effort by Boise State would give them the victory. JR D. Wiley struggled from deep missing his first 4 3pt attempts but it was his only make of the night that was a big one. With 32 seconds to play Wiley's 3pt sealed the 5pt victory.

    FINAL SCORE BSU-64 SCU-59

    GAME COMMENTS BY COACH D

"I am proud of the guys tonight. I knew that Drew would one day have a off night and tonight was one of them, yet the team stepped up and scored points when we needed too. Santa Clara has some good young players and like us will be a very good team in a couple of years. I look forward to future battles with them."

UP NEXT BOISE STATE TRAVELS TO CORVALIS TO TAKE ON THE UNDEFEATED (4-0) OREGON STATE BEAVERS.

BRONCOS AND BEAVERS BATTLE INTO OVERTIME!!

      (2-3) @ (4-0)

      GAME RECAP

This was a crazy game that was a tale of 2 halfs. Boise State would dominate the 1st half behind the play of the Big 3 (Hicks/Mbaye/Diarra) to take a 41-26 lead.

However foul calls and turnovers would plague the Broncos in the 2nd half as OSU battled back behind 6'7 JR J. Burton (18 pts in the 2nd half) including the game tying shot with 4.2 seconds to play as the Beavers force OT (67-67)

With JR D. Wiley out of the game with 5 fouls, it was SR PG T. Nichols carrying the load for the Broncos as he hits 3/3 from 3pt in the Overtime period, but it just wasn't enough as OSU scores 20 pts in OT to stay perfect leaving the nation to scratch their head and wonder just how good is this OSU team???

      FINAL SCORE BSU-80 OSU-87 OT

      KEY PLAYERS

      PG T. Nichols-18 pts 6/12 FG 4/6 3PT
      (Career/Season High)

      SG D. Wiley-5 pts 3 reb 4 asst 2 stls 5 turnovers 5 fouls
(Season low in points after starting the first 3 games Avg 20 or more)

      SF A. Legge-1 pt 9 reb 4 turnovers 0/3 FG 0/2 3PT
(Continues to struggle getting to the hoop)

      PF S. Hicks-14 pts 13 reb
(Back to Back games with Double Double)

      C M. Mbaye-16 pts 7 reb 6 blks
(Career high in blks, now Avg 1.8 per game)

      C A. Diarra-10 pts 9 reb

      JR SG J. Cunningham-14 pts 5 reb 9 asst 6/10 FG
      JR C J. Burton-26 pts 10 reb 3 blks 11/22 FG
      SO R. Murphy-11 pts 7 reb (Bench)
      SO A. Starks-10 pts 5 asst (Bench)

POST GAME COMMENTS BY COACH D

"It's disappointing to watch a 15 point 1st half lead slip away but with a young team that will happen from time to time. Turnovers are killing me (29). I don't know what to do. Guy's seem to think they can get it between 3 defenders and they can't!! We need to be smarter with the ball. Another game in which Wiley struggles and guy's stepped up, so I will take that postitive away from this, but that's about it."

              BRONCOS FACE ANOTHER HEARTBREAKER!!

              (2-5) @ #18 (3-1)

              GAME PREVIEW

Duke is coming off a disappointing 14 win season but that didn't stop Coach K from bringing in the #1 Recruiting Class in the nation. FR SF H. Crenshaw and PF A. Pratt join fellow RS FR PG K. Irving in the starting lineup with SG S. Curry and SR Mason Plumlee.

Duke started the year 3-0 with a Top-25 win over Michigan State (98-70) bu are coming off a disappointing 73-50 loss at Cameron Indoor Stadium to (5-1) Georgia State just 2 days earlier.

Boise State is coming off a 20 win season that saw them make it to the NCAA tourney, but with the graduation of 6 Seniors, they are very young with 6 FR and just 10 playes on their roster. The Broncos come into the game with just 2 wins and 4 loses but those include a missed 3pt at the buzzer to beat Gonzaga and a OT loss to Oregon State.

              GAME RECAP

Coach Deuce knew he would need to keep things close if his team had any chance of pulling off the upset over this talented Duke team. BSU would actually lead at the 10 minute mark, but a very well balanced attack by the Blue Devils gave Duke the 54-44 lead at the half.

Boise State wasn't ready to give up though and behind a career high by JR SG D. Wiley the Broncos battled back to tie the game with 2 minutes to play, but the Cameron Crazies went wild fueling their team back to a 1 point lead and with 34 seconds to play Seth Curry hits a huge 3pt to give Duke the 4pt lead. After a missed shot by S. Hicks in the post, BSU was forced to foul Irving sending the Freshman to the line. Irving would sink both FT's to give Duke the 6pt lead with 24 seconds to play. Wiley would hit a huge 3pt (his 8th of the night) to pull BSU within 3. Then Hicks would steal the inbound finding Wiley open in the corner for what looked to be a game tying 3pt, but the ball would rim in and out, forcing the Broncos to foul yet again. Mason Plumlee would sink both FT's to give Duke the 5pt lead. Again the Broncos would look to Wiley for a huge 3pt shot, but again the ball would rim in and out with 7 seconds to play. Again BSU would foul but it was to late. The ball game was over.

POST GAME COMMENTS BY BOTH COACHES

Coach Derozan "It's frustrating.. Again we were so close.. I felt like our starters played great, but our lack of bench scoring hurt us. Diarra played great giving us a double double but we need at least 1 more guy to consistantly step up and help us score"

Coach K "Boise State is a good team. They are young and inexpierenced and lack some depth on their bench, but you give this program a couple of years and I think we will be hearing their name mentioned alot out West. I felt like our team played great and we when we do that, we have the talent to beat anyone in the nation"

                BRONCOS TAKE HOME THE HARDWARE!!

BIG TREE TOURNAMENT @ WORTHINGTON ARENA
INSIDE THE BRICK FIELDHOUST AT MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY
                TOURNAMENT RECAP

Looking for a inseason tournament, the Boise State Broncos settled for the "Big Tree" a tourney hosted by former Big Sky foe Montana State. However do to the fact the entire MSU basketball team came down with a illness that wouldn't allow them to play in their own tournemant, the Bobcats called fellow Big Sky memeber Portland State to take their place, making the Broncos the marquee team.

Portland State would fall to Alabama State in the opening game 75-72. Sending ASU to the Championship game.

(2-5) Boise State would face off against (1-3) Chicago State for a chance to join them and the Broncos would do just that taking a 51-43 lead at the half behind the play of PF Sam Hicks. Hicks would go on to score a career high 27 pts leading the Broncos to the 85-78 victory.

In the Championship game both teams would struggle to shoot the ball, but it was BSU who would come out on top taking a 29-20 lead at the half. Alabama State's struggles would continue in the 2nd half as well as they managed just 23 points in the 70-43 loss to the Broncos.

PG Trey Nichols led the Broncos with 16 pts (3/5 3pt), well S. Hicks added 11 pts and 6 reb. 7'1 SO I. Otljen led the bench with 14 pts (A career and season high).

(Portland State defeated Chicago State 70-68 in the consolation bracket)

(Game note-I simmed both tourney games)

Yeah I was bummed to see that I couldn't make everyone in this year, but I don't plan on playing every game this season (will probalby play about every 3 games of my WAC schedule) so it should go by quick.

I think you will be surprised to see where Logan goes. Being from NC, I figured the instate schools (UNC,Duke,Wake, NC State) would have the best chance but that isn't always the case.

Thanks. I feel my team has the ability to repeat last year what they did in the WAC finishing in the Top-3 and possibly winning the tourney to repeat with our Appearence in the Big Dance and with how we have played so far against Gonzaga,Oregon State and Duke, I think we could even pull off a upset or 2. But I still got to get by a really good New Mexico team (6-1) plus face a ranked Washington State team and a pretty good Washington team before I even get to WAC play. I am just hoping I can get to .500 before WAC play starts, so I have a chance to repeat with a 20 win season.

                        INSEASON RECRUITING RECAP

Good Evening and Welcome To ESPN "The Ocho". Tonights show we will be showcasing the incoming class of 2012 for College Basketball. I am you host Bryan Scott.

This year's class is full of exciting prospects but we will give you a indepth look at 10 exciting players out of this years class, as well as take a look at where some of the other top players in the country will be playing next year.

Let's first take a look at the 10 spotlight players.

We will head out first to Fayettville North Carolina where we met 6'6 SF Logan Martinez (xlegendkillax) who according to 2K Scouts, is the #1 Overall player in the country. Most assumed that Martinez would stay close to home signing with either the UNC Tar Heels or the Duke Blue Devils, however neither of those schools even finished in the Top-2 when it was all said and done in the early committment process.. Both Florida State and Clemson rose to the top of the list and when it was all said and done. Logan Martinez put on the FSU cap, indicating he will be a Nole!!!. Looks like UNC and Duke will get a chance to see at least 2 times a year what they missed out one.

Scouts comments on Martinez "Martinez isn't going to be a guy who will drop 20+ points a night on you, but he is a guy who works his butt off to make his entire team better"

(Don't forget FSU had the #2 class last year behind Duke, so the Seminoles are now loaded with young talent)

After leaving North Carolina, we head to the Lone Star state, where we met another SF, 6'7 Adrian Marvell out of Killeen TX (MarvellousOne). Marvell is the #2 Overall Player ranked by 2k.Scouts.com. Like Martinez, most assumed that Marvell would stay local playing for the Longhorns or even the Aggies of TAMU, but like Martinez, Marvell had different plans, and on signing day was found standing next to this

Marvell was headed to Saint Louis, where Coach Rick Marjeous has quitely built the SLU Billikens into a Major Powerhouse in the A-10.

Marvell's comments "When it came down to it, I really like what Coach had to say. The idea of starting from Day 1 was something I wanted to do and the fact they finished #3 in the Country last year proves that you can be in the hunt for a National Title playing at SLU. I think I am the player they need to make them #1"

Scouts comments "Marvell has one of the best midrange shots in the nation and is one of the best players defending someone when they have the ball in his hands. Some say he has a little bit of nasty in him and compare him to Ron Artest. If he can develope a 3pt shot, he could be one of the best players in this years class"

After leaving Texas, we head to the Empire State and the playgrounds of New York a hotbed for young talent ready to take that next step toward becoming NBA Superstars.

The first player we came across was 6'11 PF Dalton Henry (Footballfan4life) (Ranked #5 Overall and the #1 PF). Henry like Marvell has a sweet midrange jumper and gives his team the ability to streatch the floor. He is also a fierce rebounder and loves to attack to offense glass giving his team 2nd chance opportunites. (2k Scouts comments) Again like Martinez and Marvell, many assumed that Henry would stay close to home playing at Syracuse or Georgetown, but Dalton was tired of the Big Apple and instead is heading to the Midwest where he will become a Hoosier playing for the legendary Indiana University.

Henry "I really like what Coach Crean has done so far at turning Indiana around and making them a powerhouse again. I believe that I can continue that trend and help add to the many banners we have hanging inside Assembly Hall"

Before leaving New York we came across "The Beast" 7'6 300lb Jacobi Yrogergj (Yrogergj24) (Ranked #130 Overall and #7 C) By far the biggest player in this years class, Jacobi is a player who could change the way college basketball is played, if he could just stay on the court. Because of his size, Yrogergj didn't start playing basketball until his senior year, instead focusing on football. However Scouts believe that if he can get into the physical shape to be able to run up and down the court, this kid could be undstoppable. However because of his lack of basketball skills and playing time, most big schools have shyed away from giving Yrogergj any early offers

                        #2 Siena
                        #3 Kentucky
                        #4 Vanderbilt
                        #5 Townson
#13 Boise State (I personally won't sign him just because it's to easy to dominate with a 7'6 player, but put him on my list to keep tabs of where he goes)

If the playgrounds of New York are a hotbed for College Recruiting, then so are the streets of Philly, and that is where we are headed next. Well maybe not the streets but to Neumann-Goretti High School.

Named the Top Athletic Program in the state of Pennsylvania, Neuman-Goretti has produced several top college basketball stars, including the Morris twins (Marcus and Markief) at Kansas as well as Syracuse star's Scoop Jardine and Ricky Jackson).

This year's team includes 2 more future star's. 6'8 Ghost Watson (TheGhost215) and 6'0 PG Michael Williams (SuperNova27).

Watson ranked #6 Overall by 2kScouts, is a man without a position. He has the vision and abliities of a PG, but the body of a PF. His lack of shooting ablities limit him from being a scoring threat, but his skill helps him make his entire team better.

His teammate Williams (Ranked #8 Overall/#2 PG) is more of a true PG, but has played alot of offguard this year even though he lacks a true 3pt shot, but that hasn't stopped this duo from helping their team to yet another state title.

So far neither player has given out much details to where they might play next year. Early in the year both players had UConn as their #1 school, but as the season has gotten further along, the talk of playing together at the next level as cooled, as both players have figured out they might be better suited to run the point.

Because of his skill set Watson could be a matchup nightmare for teams, and because of that VCU Shaka Smart has been calling dailey to get Watson to come check out the Rams program who has offered a scholarship. However close on their heels are #2 UNC, #3 Louisville and #4 Boise State (I havn't offered yet because I only have 3 scholarships and I am focusing on guys closer to home and not ranked so high)

Williams has the UNC #1, and Coach Williams has offered a scholarship, but still in the mix are #2 Indiana, #3 Tennessee, #4 Kentucky, #5 Ohio State and #9 Boise State

Coach Williams on Williams "I believe that Michael has the ability to be among the greats of UNC Basketball. He reminds me alot of current NBA players Raymond Felton and Ty Lawson, and have shown we have no problems showcasing their skills here at Chapel Hill"

Next up we head to Baltimore Maryland, where we check in on 6'11 Ian McLaughlin (dtackel78) (Ranked #46 Overall/#6 PF).

Like Watson, VCU's Coach S. Smart wasted little time to make it known that he wanted McLaughlin in a Ram's Uni next season. The CBI Champions of 2010 are ready to add a NCAA Championship to the rafters.

McLaughlin on VCU "I am not sure what it was about VCU that made me want to go, I guess I just like the thought of dominating in the Colonial Conference, which I grew up watching. I have family who have played at Towson, but they havn't been to a NCAA tourney since 1991 , and wasn't sure I was up for that big of task.

Well we have 3 players to go in our Spotlight series. Before we head out West to take a look at Kyle Thomas and Andy Akpan. We will make a quick stop in Kansas City Missouri to take a look at Dillon Tenholder.

Tenholder (Gloves82) is a 6'3 SG Ranked #27 Overall and #8 SG by 2k Scouts. Having gone public with the fact he grew up a Missouri Tigers fan, most assumed that Tenholder would stay close to home and play for Coach Mike Anderson, but like Martinez and Marvell, Tenholder shocked everyone including his own family when he pulled out that red hat with the big N on the front. Tenholder was going to Nebraska.

Tenholder "I know alot of people are shocked that I picked the Cornhuskers, but they offered me something I wanted. A chance to be the star of the team.."

With 5 SR's and 5 JR's on the team, Tenholder will join Mr BB NE 6'10 PF Harris Hill (4* Rated #88 Overall/#12 PF), 6'10 Center Ran Fuller (3* Rated #196 Overall/#13 C) and JC PG H. Bellairs (4*) as Nebraska looks to become a powerhouse in the Big 12.

We have seen star's from the East Coast,MidWest and down into Texas, now we head West where we will take a look at our Final 2 players in this years Spotlight 10

6'9 PF Kyle Thomas (TheKT) (A 4* Ranked #91 Overall/#13 PF) was voted this year's Mr BB after leading Centenial High to a 5A Div II State title. Orginally from Robbins GA, Thomas is a Air Force brat, whose family was moved to Mountain Home Air Force Base, and since he arrived in Idaho, he has fallen in love with the Boise State Broncos. and the thoughts of playing for Coach Deuce. However his mother comes from a very large LDS family and they would like to see him play for BYU and Coach Rose who over the past couple of years has quitely built the Cougars into a powerhouse in the MWC.

Thomas currently has BYU #1, but the Cougars havn't actually made a formal offer yet, leaving Grandpa upset saying he should play for the Utah Utes instead. So that with that said, Thomas has narrowed his list down to 3 schools.

                        #1 BYU (No Offer)
                        #2 BSU (Offered)
                        #3 Utah (No Offer)

Kyle Thomas isn't the only one who is considering Boise State. 6'7 SF Andy Akpan (Me) grew up in Boise, before moving to Las Vegas Nevada with his family. Now he is ready to return to his beloved Broncos where he hopes to help Coach Deuce take the Broncos to a Final 4 and possible NCAA Championship.

(I created a player, who signed with Washington , so I now have 3 SF's who are 3* guys who have BSU in their Top-2 school choices. Which ever one signs with BSU, I am going to edit their name only to match my player, so I can play for BSU, I thought about just recreated myself next year, but this way it will open up the door for another memeber from the boards to create a guy)

Hope you guys enjoy the Recruiting Writeup.

I have 4 games left in my Non-Conference Schedule (New Mexico, Pacific, WSU and Washington) before I start WAC play. Right now the plan is to try and get those games in today. I then plan on simming alot of the WAC games (will play key games with Idaho, Fresno,Nevada,Utah State) so I can move through this season a little quicker and get to tourney play.

Let me know if there is any other info you guy's would like to see. I plan on posting the rest of the Recruiting Recap (Other Top-25 players) and stuff at the end of the season.

That's awesome man. I thought maybe you knew the other guys, and that's how you made their back-stories but you don't know me at all and mine was perfect... I really like how you added in my original home town, very nice touch. I've thought about doing one of these for a long time, and I've seen some others, but now after reading this, I could never do it justice. But I guess that's why you're the best.

Thanks for the kind words. Don't really know anyone's background. Just went with what sounded good.

Now I just hope I can land Thomas. I am still stuck at #2 behind BYU but they havn't offered so I got my fingers crossed. What sucks is the Mr BB who is a PG and very muched need on my team had me #1 all season until signing day and but then BYU and WSU jumped into the mix and I dropped to #3. So I just hope the opposite will work this time. I really hope Thomas and Akpan and team up with last years class to give me a solid team for the next 3-4 years.
