Rough start to the season. Hopefully you can get things turned around during conference play. Good luck!

Yea it definitely did not go the way I had hoped especially this is the same team as last year with the addition of Ravello. Oh well, we'll just have to step it up for the next 7 weeks. I should be able to play the Columbia game today if I'm not too tired haha.

Congrats. I would just add the advice I always give: post the way that you know is going to keep you posting.

Great job so far -- now go out and kick the ivy league's...posterior?

Haha I have just been more busy than I expected to be this summer so far and so whenever I get on the 360, I'm too tired to want to scout the opponent and coach the game. Instead I go to an older legacy and just play a game or two... I have missed doing the write-ups though. I should (if I had a dollar for every time I said should and don't play the game I'd be rich lol) be able to get a game or two in by the end of the weekend.

REBOUNDING DECIDING FACTOR IN IVY CONFERENCE OPENER

1/3/2013 - New York, NY: "If we rebound, we win this game easily" said Rogers in the post-game.

Problem was, they didn't rebound. Led by big man Mark Cisco, who had his second double double of the season, Columbia outrebounded Brown by 13. The Lions also got 14 second chance points.

"We had shown improvement on the boards coming into this game, then guys like Cisco totally dominate the rebounding" said a frustrated Rogers, "We will definitely need to make some changes in order to get rebounds."

Brown also missed crucial jump shots at the end of the game.

"Yea we missed some shots we usually hit. McCarthy missed I think 3 mid-range shots that he almost always hits in practice. Tucker Halpern missed a wide open 3 that would have tied it with a minute left. Those things just happen, and when you can't hit your shots, you need to really step it up on defense and on the boards."

The Bears, who led for almost the whole game by just a couple points, had to fight through foul trouble from Taylor Wright and Andrew McCarthy.

"Our bench did a good job stepping up today" said Rogers, "When 40% of your starters are not seeing the floor and then another starter gets hurt in the second half, it's hard to stay in the game but our bench was productive for most of the game."

The starter who got injured was none other than Daymond Ravello. Ravello sprained his knee with about 12 minutes left in the game and will be most likely be seeing limited minutes for the game against the Lions.

"We better fix the things like rebounding quickly because we face these guys again in a week."

                HOME COURT ADVANTAGE?

1/9/13 - Providence, RI: Colby Rogers and company hoped to get back on the right foot against Columbia with the Brown fans backing them. Unfortunately for the Bears, fans were leaving within 10 minutes of the game after going down 22-6. Brown was never able to recover and is now 0-2 in conference play.

"I hope my guys like to run because we are going to do a lot of that for the next few days" said Rogers, with a maniacal smile.

Rebounding, however, was not the problem this time around; it was just bad defensive spurts.

"There were a couple 8 minute stretches where my guys looked like they didn't care. Or maybe they were tired. Either way, a couple hundred suicides might help out the problem."

Brown was also struggling on the offensive end, only shooting 37% from the field.

"We have 3 weeks before our next game" said Rogers, "Which gives us plenty of times to make some changes on the offensive end, and to run. Have I mentioned that we will be running a little bit over the next couple weeks?"

As Rogers stated, they have 3 weeks before they face off against the basement dweller in the IVY League, Dartmouth. That just maybe the game that jump-starts this Brown team.

Tough loss, but sounds like there's a lot of endurance training in Brown's future.

Yea if this was real life I would be straight pissed at my players. I've caught myself yelling at the TV a few times over loose balls and stupid defense. It's ok, I've made some changes and hopefully it will help out.

42 FOULS CALLED IN BLOWOUT FOR BEARS FIRST CONFERENCE WIN

1/30/13 - Hanover, NH: The men in the striped shirts played a crucial role in tonight's game between Dartmouth and Brown. Both teams combined to shoot 66 free throws.

"The refs really affected how we approached the game especially in the first half" explained Rogers, "Both of our point guards Ravello and Sharkey were hit with 2 fouls in the first 8 minutes of the game. Sharkey fouled out and only played 4 minutes."

Coach Rogers can't complain too much about the officiating since his team shot 38 shot from the charity stripe.

"We shot fairly well from the line tonight. I think we were like 70% and when you shoot as many free throws as we did, 70% is a solid number. We were also able to keep Krymski off the floor at crucial times due to foul trouble himself. It was just a weird game."

One weird aspect, as Rogers pointed out, was the Big Green's defense.

"Yea they play you differently on defense" laughed Rogers, "I don't know many teams that will play you in a triangle and 2, especially when you have 4 guys on the floor who are capable shooters. I can't complain too much though since we scored 91 points."

Coach Rogers also alluded to making some changes in their offense in the last post-game report. It sure seemed like something changed the way their offense worked.

"I'm not too sure if our offense worked the way it did solely because of their defense or not" said Rogers, "But we added a couple plays and moved Halpern, our best scorer, to the 5 and put McCarthy and Maia at the 4. It seemed to have helped our rebounding as well, which is an added bonus. Hopefully, this continues."

Decide that they're immature college kids on my television and move on...until it happens again a few minutes later and I mentally change their development to "stamina".

And by the way everybody, I officially hate Dartmouth. That may have been the dumbest game I have ever played. Who the hell runs a triangle and 2 anyways??

LOL. Ivy League does not equal mature in the least. If anything, sometimes being smart enough to get into one of those schools is an inhibitor on one's maturity, not necessarily a reflection of it.

Went to grad school with a bunch of former ivy leaguers. Was a real eye opener -- even post college they could not handle basic life decisions or things like balancing a budget, setting one's own schedule, or answering open ended questions.
