SEASON OPENER DOES NOT GO BROWN'S WAY

Amherst, MA - 11/4/13: The inexperienced Brown Bears was overmatched in every facet of the game tonight against UMass.

"UMass just came out more prepared tonight then we did," stated Rogers, "They just played better then us. Period."

Joey Wheless came out and performed at a high level in his first game for the Bears getting 10/7.

"I was proud of Joey's performance tonight," said Rogers of his freshman center, "He is a natural post player and plays with a high IQ. He has all the potential in the world."

BEARS TAKE OPENING ROUND GAME OF NIT SEASON TIP-OFF

Columbus, Oh - 11/9/13: The Bears were in control throughout the game against UMES and ended up with a 6 point victory.

"I thought that we did really well on both sides of the floor tonight," said Rogers, "We executed on offense and for the most part played strong defense."

The Bears were up double digits for the first 10 minutes of the second half when the Hawks caught fire and got on a scoring run.

"We had a hiccup for a couple minutes in the second half but there was never any point in the half where I got really worried. After that little run, we did not let them get back into the game. It was a double-digit game most of the half after that run until the end where the scored a few last minute points."

The Brown Bears will face Michigan for a spot at the NIT Season Tip-Off in Madison Square Garden.

I'll be back home for tonight and tomorrow since tomorrow is election day and I should be able to get a game or two in. I actually have a couple games I need to post on here that I haven't yet.

I've been itching to play this legacy so bad...

UPSET ALERT IN NIT SEASON TIP-OFF

Columbus OH - 11/10/13: The Brown Bears were leading #10 ranked Michigan at halftime by 12. However, in the second half the Wolverines were able to comeback and win by 4.

"We were hitting from downtown in the first half and we were able to contain Burke and Holloway," said Rogers,"Unfortunately in the second half, we started rushing our shots and we were playing as individuals. You can't do that against a top 10 opponent."

Michigan got back into the game with the leadership of Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway.

"We were unable to stop their backcourt in the second half and that really hurt us. That was our biggest setback in this game."

With the win, Michigan will travel to New York City while Brown will prepare for Drexel.

Way to give Michigan a scare, sucks that you couldn't pull out the win. Burke and Hardaway went off.

Yea I tried everything to stop them but they overmatched my best defenders in the second half. The fact that I competed with a top 10 team though gives me hope for the season. It's definitely a step in the right direction.

Yea my title is a little misleading haha. But yea our second half defense was pathetic. There was nothing I could do to stop Burke. It's time like these that I wish I didn't do coach mode so I could guard Burke and Holloway myself but oh well.

I like it but don't like it at the same time. It makes conference games that much more important but it stinks that you don't get the chance to win in the conference tournament.

Yeah, I felt the same way about it at Princeton.

On the whole, I think I'd prefer a conference tournament, though. The games are more exciting when it's do-or-die (as lower-level conference tournaments tend to be).

In addition, even if you do fail to win the conference tournament championship after winning the regular season title, you'd still get a shot in the NIT, so all would not be lost.

Yea I do miss the excitement of the conference tournament for sure.

Also for what it's worth, I saw my first full court shot go in on this legacy. It was after the clock expired so it didn't count (would not matter if it did) but it was still cool to see it go in haha.

Ah, that's cool! I've never seen one myself. It's interesting because whenever you shoot a shot from beyond half-court with time expiring, it somehow always hits the rim, but I've never seen it go in. If you shoot a half-court shot or beyond with time left on the clock (which I've regrettably done a few times before with an accidentally tap of the X button) it will almost never hit the rim.

I suspect you are back for break now?
