    Legacy of Coach Pfeifer (CH2K8)

Coach Pfeifer Inks With Central Arkansas

Conway, AR - Central Arkansas University is currently going through a transitional phase with the hiring of up and coming Coach Pfeifer. Coming off three years as an assistant under Rand Chappell here at Arkansas State, it was a fitting step up for the young Pfeifer. The players had a tough time relating to Coach Chappell and have since found a liking with Coach Pfeifer, so at the very least he should have the players all on his side to start with. Here's more on Coach Pfeifer and his assistants:

        Reserves
        PF Chris Henson (53) SR.
        PG Aubrey Ball (52) FR.

Conway, AR - The team will rely heavily on Junior small forward Mark Ruthledge to keep them in games. His offensive and defensive abilities should keep him on the court a ton for Coach Pfeifer. The team is not very talented, but should be able to stay close in most games due to their defensive abilities. Don't expect this team to outscore anyone in a shootout, rather expect many low scoring affairs if they want to have a shot in games.

Lexington, KY - The 2K Sports College Hoops Classic started with a bang. A new head coach in his first game at helm going up against the #3 ranked Kentucky Wildcats. The rust showed throughout the game as it helped Central Arkansas stay in the game. It was slow and sloppy which led to a closer than anticipated game for Kentucky.

Kentucky were led by a balanced scoring attack as three starters finished in double figures, while Central Arkansas relied heavily on the play of SF Mark Ruthledge.

If it were not for Ruthledge and his 18 points, the Bears would have been run out of the building. But that was not the case as his hot shooting from deep (4-7 for three) kept the game close.

In the end, it was the experience of the Wildcats that was too good to be beat even though Michael Gilchrest was 0-5 from downtown. Gilchrest led the way for Kentucky with 13 points. Doron Lamb and Terrence Jones added 11 and 10 points respectively for the Wildcats.

On the other side of the bracket, Alabama A&M ousted Gardner-Webb 67-65. This sets up the consolation game between Gardner-Webb and Central Arkansas, while Kentucky moves on to play Alabama A&M.

Lexington, KY - In the consolation game of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic, we found ourselves with two evenly matched opponents. The two teams enjoyed their last game on the floor at Rupp Arena before heading home.

Central Arkansas came out and took a slim advantage into halftime, leading 34-30. The second half was just as close as the first half with neither team leading by more than single digits, ending 63-61.

Gardner-Webb found itself in the game as the time dwindled down, but it was a huge put-back by C Anthony Borden of Central Arkansas that was the difference in the final seconds. With 6.3 seconds left in the game, Borden grabbed the offensive rebound off a miss from SF Mark Ruthledge and put it in off the glass for two of his 10 points. He also added six rebounds and three assists.

Ruthledge was by far the game's most dangerous player. He finished with 25 points and four rebounds. His miss, however, allowed Borden to become the game's hero.

Gardner-Webb was led by the all around performance of SG Luke Davis and his 12 points, five assists, and three rebounds, but perhaps the biggest surprise was Freshman PF Corey Hensley coming off the bench to drop nine points. His size couldn't be handled as he ended up going to the line a game-high eight times, hitting on seven.

"It feels great to grab my first win for this school. Let's hope we can continue this back home" stated Coach Pfeifer when asked about his first win as head coach of the Central Arkansas Bears.

To be honest, I'm doing CPU-CPU for right now as I do stuff around the house. So I don't have a grasp of how the gameplay feels, but I must admit I LOVE the crowd chants.

I have last year's roster up and will roll with CPU-CPU for at least the regular season. From my last expedition into CH2K8, I was getting walloped. So, I'll probably fiddle with sliders to my liking.

You'll be happy to see I scheduled Brown for early in December...

Let's hope! The one problem is I can only have so much control when going CPU-CPU...and I've had a really rough go in the recruiting department.

These games go so fast with regards to NCAA, so I'm enjoying the pace of everything, though, so I'll keep working on my recruiting!!!

Yeah small school recruiting is never fun, however the international and local guys tend to lean towards you so as you get better, you can look for nearby 4 and 5 star guys and go to a bigger school... that's my goal too in the end.

I may of missed something but is there a reason you're using 2011-2012 rosters instead of the 2012-2013 raider recently finished?

I figured year one would be a wash, so I had these pre-saved.

Plus the 2k servers were down when I had started this legacy

Conway, AR - The home opener was tonight with Central Arkansas taking on Jacksonville State. The game showed little excitement as both teams shot poorly from the field. The game's leading scorer came from Central Arkansas, as Mark Ruthledge continued his shooting spree and finished with a game-high 14 points as he connected on six of his 19 shots. He also added five rebounds.

The game was close throughout, but Central Arkansas always seemed in control. Robert Crawford was dominant on the glass for the Bears, collecting 10 rebounds, adding six points and two assists.

Jacksonville State was led by their two big men. Stephen Hill scored eight and added eight rebounds, while Nick Cook scored seven points and grabbed 11 boards.

Central Arkansas never looked like losing this game, although the score may make the game seem like a contest. Central Arkansas wins their first home game in the Coach Pfeifer era, 53-47.

Up next is a trip to Charleston Southern (2-2). This should be a great contest as the Bears look to find their third straight win.
