Well I can't complain about my game today because guess what? I DIDN'T PLAY. I suppose the recap writer thought it was "nice" to act like everybody played but it just didn't happen. The starters played the majority of the game and the bench was forced to watch.
It was actually cool though watching this game from the bench. I realized how great of listeners the starting unit was. Their game was nearly flawless and they did everything coach had been emphasising in practices perfect.

But besides that. This was the first time I actually saw Troy play. He was great all game besides the first quarter where he didn't appear to be looking for his shot. In the second he took control of the game and that's when our lead started expanding.

The bell finally rang after the long, long, long Thursday... I was as excited to be to go to practice considering my favorite boredom reliever was basketball. So I paced myself out of the classroom and cut through the gym to get to the locker room to change into my practice apparel.

As I entered I saw Troy and Augustus, both were shooting around at the same hoop. Troy noticed me and laughed. "Mikey! It's first time you gonna be on the court all year!"

Augustus laughed, "He having flashbacks of me jammin' on his during tryouts." said Augustus.

I gave them the stale face but laughed a little and replied, "Yo Chief Keef shut the f**k up and Augustus you jammed on a sophomore but got put on lockdown by Yasogami."

So great news guys. Polk is officially back on the nationally ranking boards. Maxpreps has us at 23rd.
But without further due let's get started... We've got Avalon High School on our schedule tomorrow and I'm looking to our second win to our record.
Today I expect us to work on improving on our ball movement and interior defense. We all saw how Yasogami took advantage of our hackers down low and we've gotta look to avoid that for now on. We really should've won that game by much more than the actual outcome but we must learn how to properly defend on the drives.

So let's get this started. Select a partner and set up for the ball movement. And remember COMMUNICATE.

Trent Made The Team - Home
Today my little brother Trent hit me up with a text message.

Trent had never seemed to really like basketball so I was surprised he made the middle school team so I'm guessing he's always had a special talent in him. He is in 7th grade attending his first year of middle school. I'm hoping he can really hold his own in the division and stardom comes to him.

But in the meantime my oldest brother Julian continued his career overseas in his journey to make the big leagues.

It was crazy how we were all isolated from each other... Trent in a different state and Julian all the way in a different continent only visiting during the off-seasons.
At least we all know we're a group of successful family athletes thus far. We hope to push forward and form a trio of brothers in the NBA.

Mike is just happy he's playing varsity. He knew he wouldn't be getting any playing time but he knows working with these his teammates in practice will get him better.

Polk High Defeats Avalon 57-43
November 2nd, 2014

FINAL SCORE: Polk High 57, Avalon High School 43

Polk High has once again impressed with a 57-43 victory over Avalon High School. This game bumps the Knights up to 2-0 as they look to keep their record at 100% all season long.

Troy Monroe had an outing high with 23 points, 5 assists, along with 2 blocks. Behinds him was freshman Gustavo Forrest delierving another great night on the perimeter. He was able to burry 2 threes this game and made a great deal of contribution on the boards with 7. Senior Doug Micah made his debut in the starting lineup and added 6 points along with 4 rebounds to the totals.

Together as a team Polk played intense defense never allowing Avalon's momentum to kick in and once again keeping their opponents under 40% shooting. The Knights controlled the tempo of the game every minute and not once were outscored in any quarter of the game.

The Knights will host Middleton High School next week at home.

If there's one thing I had to rant about in this game it's the fact that coach put me in the game with two seconds remaining haha. Really gave me that, "Hey benchwarmer get in the game so people don't say I'm an unfair coach" feeling. But it's all good because we got the win.

Like Brian Scalabrine said, in 50 years I'm just gonna tell my grandchildren I was the best player on this team and that I led them to state.

I play every game but when I'm not on the court I use the "Coach Mode" feature allowing me to watch the game from the sidelines. When I do play I use the "Perferred Position" but then like I said when I get subbed out it's back to coach mode so it's basically just like MyPlayer except I'm not able to simulate until I get back in.
And no problem!

Behind all our glory wins being casted at Polk was the family once again. This time it wasn't great news, it was very bad actually.

My cousin Kendrick had been shot at a house party but it was later informed that he was in fair condition and would could be released eventually.

Kendrick lived in Michigan along with my other cousin/his twin brother Omari. I could honestly care less about the shooting as long as I knew he would live because Kendrick really isolated himself from the family and every since we all grew up and never really hung out anymore... He's just that popular guy who's never around for anything family related.

Got everything, I got everything / I cannot complain... Man you guys are playing great so far!
Great shot selection, great ball distribution, rebounding, my goodness we might as well shoot half court shots all practice!
Haha no but I'm really proud of you guys thus far.
We've got Middleton High School up next and they're a SOLID team. Last year they gave us a scare but we were able to close out but this year I want a blow out.
They've got a center by the name of Byron Damion and he's a banger down low so our interior defense and help will need to be superior to keep him contained and they've got a sharpshooting guard who will make the three so our objective is to force him to shoot over you.

If we have that covered then we've got another win to add to our results.

My Thoughts
Everything was well today. I'm really having a lot more fun I thought I would have with varsity. Our chemistry is really on point right now.

Coach informed us that we will be playing a lot of zone defense against Middleton in order to keep their center off the glass and eneffective. Results looked great but Gustavo was always struggling to close out on his offensive assignment. I hoped that that wouldn't carry into the game.

Polk High Gets Revenge on Middleton; Beats them 52-44
November 9th, 2014

FINAL SCORE: Polk High 52, Middleton High School 44

The varsity Knights have once again brought another victory to the boards, this time against Middleton. At this point Polk has once again began to sprout back up in the national high school rankings and are currently listed at #16 in the Maxpreps.com top 25 rank.

With this game being a close one throughout the first half and a potential scare Troy Monroe came up as a hero and racked up 24 points. Michael Kane also made a huge step and made a name for himself as he scored 8 points in just 10 minutes while Augustus Rolando continued to suceed in his rebounding duties with 7 boards.

Polk will be traveling to Grandview High School to face our conference rivals who currently stand 4-0. This will be an thrillful game and we hope to see the Knights representing us well!
