Team Practice
Coach Arambul Practice Introduction
So uhm we're gonna go through this film and I want you to review what you were not doing correctly. Keep it in your head and we're going to discuss it after it's over.
-Injects Tape-
As I'm looking at this film I honestly don't see much bad running in our offense. I actually think my game was flawless. Everything except my jumpshot was running. I took risks with my passes and often got rewarded from them and I think I played with confidence.
Ohhh, I'm seeing I didn't take a few open lanes... Guess that's my topic to share.
Rob is terrible on defense by the way. I already know Elton would play his man better than him on offense and defense.
Sung: I noticed I wasn't taking my opportunities when I had them. I was playing too cautious.
Coach Arambul: Mhm, I saw a lot of that and you definitely need to keep your head up because you were missing a lot of open teammates.
Ok then how about you Michael.
Me: Uhhh, I'm seeing that I was settling for jumpers when I had a possible open lane to take advantage of.
Coach Arambul: You've gotta take more leadership in controlling your unit's spacing as well. I addressed it in the game but you guys went right back to the normal. I know we don't have many forwards and centers but we're just going to have to make it work.
My thoughts
I think everything she said was agreeable. Our zone definitely payed off against the Titans because we forced them to launch up many three's and they're really terrible shooters. Only issue is what coach stated about our big men basically not being smart on defense. I think that's where Elton could really pitch in if he gets on our team. Guess I can go ask coach after practice about it.
...
Have a good evening, see ya.
Coach: Yes he has until the 21st for registration. But what position is he?
Me: He's a 6'1" center with really good post moves.
Coach: Mhm, sounds pretty beneficial to the team.
Me: Yep I'll let him know. Thanks
