    Team Practice

    Coach Arambul Practice Introduction
Welcome back to practice... Today is gonna be a simple film session day. We need to go back and realize our mistakes so we don't make them against Mystic Falls.
So uhm we're gonna go through this film and I want you to review what you were not doing correctly. Keep it in your head and we're going to discuss it after it's over.
    -Injects Tape-
    My Thoughts
As I'm looking at this film I honestly don't see much bad running in our offense. I actually think my game was flawless. Everything except my jumpshot was running. I took risks with my passes and often got rewarded from them and I think I played with confidence.
Ohhh, I'm seeing I didn't take a few open lanes... Guess that's my topic to share.
Rob is terrible on defense by the way. I already know Elton would play his man better than him on offense and defense.

Coach Arambul: Ok now that that's over with I'd like to hear what you're all thinking. We'll start with you Sung.
Sung: I noticed I wasn't taking my opportunities when I had them. I was playing too cautious.
Coach Arambul: Mhm, I saw a lot of that and you definitely need to keep your head up because you were missing a lot of open teammates.
Ok then how about you Michael.
Me: Uhhh, I'm seeing that I was settling for jumpers when I had a possible open lane to take advantage of.
Coach Arambul: You've gotta take more leadership in controlling your unit's spacing as well. I addressed it in the game but you guys went right back to the normal. I know we don't have many forwards and centers but we're just going to have to make it work.
    ...
Coach Arambul: And we can't let the other team drive past us that much anymore and if they do I need our guys down low to be more smart about contesting those shots. The amount of free throws we gave Hickory we're critical but we lucked out. That's however not gonna happen every game. Our wing defenders MUST get better and until we do we're going to have to depend on zone defense.
    ...
    My thoughts
I think everything she said was agreeable. Our zone definitely payed off against the Titans because we forced them to launch up many three's and they're really terrible shooters. Only issue is what coach stated about our big men basically not being smart on defense. I think that's where Elton could really pitch in if he gets on our team. Guess I can go ask coach after practice about it.
    ...
Coach Arambul: Alright that's it for todays practice. We've got Mystic Falls up next on the schedule and they're a new basketball program so I don't really know much about them. I'll look into it and hopefully get some information about their play style and we'll be discussing it on Monday's practice.
Have a good evening, see ya.
    Elton's Situation
Me: Hey coach, one of my teammates from my middle school basketball team might need to transfer to this school and he's wondering if he would be able to play on our team.
Coach: Yes he has until the 21st for registration. But what position is he?
Me: He's a 6'1" center with really good post moves.
Coach: Mhm, sounds pretty beneficial to the team.
Me: Yep I'll let him know. Thanks

Our Eagles played their first home game yesterday but took the L from Mystic Falls High School 75-60 in this tough high scoring game. The Vikings showcased their great shooting on our Eagles and while we played good defense, it wasn't enough to stop the hot Vikings.
Michael Kane appeared in his first starting appearance and scored 14 points at a high rate of 6-9. Sung Winfred also posted up 14 points and also had 3 assists and got to the line quite a bit to finish with 9-9 free throws.
The Eagles also introduced new student-athlete Elton Rodolfo to the roster. Elton lead both teams in minutes with 27 and finished with 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 block. Backup guard Eddie Gregory got in the game and had another productive performance with 8 points in 9 minutes with no field goal misses which includes 2 three pointers.

The Eagles will play another home game against Shermer High School Aztecs on New Years Eve.

Re: "A Look in My Eyes" - Journey Of 5'4" Guard Michael Kane

            My thoughts on last game...
Well I started this game but still Sung ended up playing longer than me.. In fact every other starter played longer than me even Jospeh who played terrible. These refs sucked and didn't call anything on our sides but were having a ball calling everything for Shermer, Elton and Felix did nothing all game, and our bench sucked. Only reason we came close in this game is because Rob kept us alive throughout the game and I hit two straight three pointers in the closing minutes of the game.
OHHHH and when we were down by two with around 20 seconds Felix thought it was smart to foul Shermer when we could've put the foul on hold and played good defense and tried to come up with a steal. I mean that's smarter than giving them two free points.
Only thing I can say that was bad about my game is my turnovers I committed (4) which were only committed because Shermer's lengthy defense and Elton would not stay still when I would try to pass him the ball.

Anyways, we don't have any practices this week (Jan 1st-Jan 4th)!

The freshman Eagles basketball team traveled to Salem Falls High School yesterday and returned with a win in a 74-63 blowout win. The Eagles had three double digit scorers in this game which included: Michael Kane, Jospeh Donnell, and Ellis Bernardo. Michael Kane had a huge contribution in the win as he scored 18 points and had 4 assists. Jospeh Donnell played well with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Ellis Bernardo made his return to the starting lineup and scored 12 points while also grabbing 6 rebounds and a blocked shot.
The Eagle's defense played smart man to man defense throughout this game which coasted Salem Falls many turnovers. Felix Jerrold held his own on on defense and he was rewarded with two steals.

Central High School freshman team has Twin Peaks High School on the schedule on January 20th so come and support your Eagles!

My after game thoughts against Salem Falls

Really easy win for us in this game... Salem Falls is not our official rival but considering their relation to our actual rival Salem High School, we wanted to show them who's boss.
I'm not trying to brag or anything but I played great and was the reason we won. I was trying to find the open man whenever it was possible but I mainly stuck to trying to get points on the board however way was possible. I felt like my defender couldn't guard me because I was able to do everything in my mind with ease.
Jospeh played good finally to. He shot like 5-12 but he was more effective that he was in previous games. I'm hoping our team can continue this play all season so we can finish with a good record.

Our freshman Eagles have marked a two game winnings streak in the win against Twin Peak High School. The game consisted on tough man to man defense production coming from our Eagles resulting in under 40% shooting from the Tigers. The game was another one where everyone contributed and we finished with a great team effort. Elton Rodolfo once again was added to the starting lineup and gave great production which included 10 points and 12 rebounds. Eddie Gregory appeared in his first start and put up 8 points and had 6 assists.

My after game thoughts against Twin Peak High School...

The refs were pure garbage... I got hacked by this same guy about 3 times going to the basketball and guess what? NO CALL!!! Then they want to call a foul every time we try to get an offensive rebound.
The Tigers had this guy, I think his name was Jay or something and he's one of the most dirtiest players I've played against in terms of fouling. He's about 6'4" and he rarely gets called for the fouls he commits.
I was victim of his acts and in result, I missed 4 out of 5 of my shots because no calls but it's all good because we got the win.
Ohhh yeah, I'm back on the bench -_-. Just scored 18 now I'm back on that seat on tip off. I'm a little confused. At least Eddie played good.

                            Coach Arambul Practice Introduction
Ok welcome back to practice Eagles. We played great against Twin Peak yesterday and we could've done better if the refs actually gave us our calls. And yes, I changed up the line ups because we're in our early stages of the year and I want to see our stronger side. I doubt I'll be switching our rotations up as much as I have been doing these past games.
We've just gotta have more communication on the floor so we don't throw away the ball 10 times anymore... So today I want to go over our plays again for a chunk of time and I definitely want to get some rebounding drills in because we didn't have a SINGLE offensive rebound yesterday and I find it unacceptable for us.
                            My thoughts
The lineup change was still BS and the logic is as well. She's basically using our actual games as a practice to see how we compete. Haha, not the best logic...

Okay so we have Salem High School on our schedule up next... You may already know this but they're our rival. Each game is pretty intense but we've got some time to prepare ourselves.
Good job today, have a good evening.

Central High School hosted our league rival Salem High School yesterday in a win that came down to the final seconds. With this being such a tough rivalry game we are proud that our students showed support to our freshman athletes! This game featured a tremendous high scoring fourth quarter game from each sides and our Eagles walked out with the win. Key performances included Jospeh Donnell's clutch steal on defense which prevented a basket that could've tied the game in the closing seconds. Other performances included Eddie Gregory's elite scoring with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assist while Jeremy Rich added 9 points.
The Eagles will play Horrace Mantis High School on February the 10th.

My after game thoughts against Salem High School...

I loved this rivalry game. I never really played in such a big atmosphere, this was only a freshman game but the stands were on FIRE. I guess it's because Varsity played after us so it's basically 2 games in 1 but still. This was such a great feeling and I really felt like I was representing the Eagles by wearing that Jersey. But anyways, if you're not a starter on Salem High School, you're not playing haha. And I'm dead serious, the sixth man of their team might have played about half a quarter while the starters pretty much played the entire game.
I didn't play so great in this game... I got my assists but I really struggled scoring the ball. I think I shot 1-8, , I'm hoping coach doesn't punish me for that. I also got 3 turnovers in my 16 minutes of play but hey I got my first block!
