St. Francis PA (2-1) at Winston-Salem State (0-2)
    November 16, 2007 - LJVM Coliseum Arena - Winston-Salem, NC

St. Francis' Grant Surprenant scored 26 points off the bench to lead all scorers as Winston-Salem State watched yet another team run away with the game, falling 87-61 to the Red Flash.

While previous losses can be attributed to turnovers, Winston-Salem State managed to take care of the ball only to shoot horribly. Shooting just 22% at the half, the Rams fell behind 33-18 at intermission. They would go on to shoot 38.7% from the floor and 36.4% from the line, letting St. Francis' defense stifle them all night.

"At least we took care of the ball [laughs]." said Coach Coley. "We took good shots, they just didn't go in the basket. All I ask is that they get and take open and easy baskets. When they don't fall, you just have to keep trying to get them to go in. It's rough when it doesn't, and tonight it didn't."

St. Francis (3-1) made short work of Winston-Salem State's 2-3 zone, mainly thanks to Surprenant. He connected on 7 on the Red Flash's 9 threes made, forcing the Rams to change defensive schemes and allowed St. Francis to attack the basket.

Winston-Salem State (0-3) was beat 42-26 on the boards, with Randy Spaid leading the Red Flash with 15 rebounds.

The Rams will continue to play for that elusive first win as they take on Northeastern on the road next Tuesday.

Going to drop the difficulty from MOP to All-Conference from now on.

          Rough start.

I've always wondered how much effect MOP vs. All-Star vs. All-Conference, etc. actually have. I've messed with them before with little discernible effect oftentimes. I'm not sure if they just give the CPU an across-the-board slider bump on MOP or what.

            Winston-Salem State (0-3) at Northeastern (1-2)
            November 20, 2007 - Matthews Arena - Boston, MA

Winston-Salem State let it rain from beyond the arc and dominated the pick-and-roll offense to the tune of their first win of the season, a 83-66 victory over Northeastern.

Jamal Durham led all scorers with 26 points while Roy Peake added 14 assists, both players reaping the benefits on the offense. As a team, the Rams shot 50.8% from the floor, their first game in which they shot above 41% this season.

"We got a lot of open shots, and we got those shots to fall." said Coach Coley. "I mean, it doesn't get much more simple than that. Glad to have the first win under the belt, especially with some quality teams coming up on our schedule."

Winston-Salem State fell behind early, as Northeastern opened the game on a 9-2 run. The Rams settled into their offense and climbed back into the game before taking a 22-20 lead off a Durham dunk.

Since that point, Winston-Salem State never trailed the game and eventually took a double-digit lead in the beginning of the second half. The Rams went from their traditional 2-3 zone defense to a man-to-man scheme to until the shots wouldn't fall from 3 for Northeastern.

Winston-Salem State doesn't have long to enjoy their first win, as they prepare to travel to Newark, NJ for the 2007 Legends Classic. The opening round of the four team tournament will pit the Rams against the 12th ranked Texas Longhorns. The 5th ranked Tennessee Volunteers will play the 19th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers in the other first round game.

I'm debating on bumping the difficulty up to All-American (between All-Conference and MOP) because I absolutely rolled through Northeastern. Not sure if a) the 2-3 zone was just effective, b) Texas and the Tennessee-West Virginia loser will still beat the absolute crap out of me - which I'm expecting, or c) I should just take the win and be happy lol

All-American is what I meant not All-Conference. I believe Auburn's sliders are set or All-Conference, but I actually started with them and moved them to All-American with Cornell. I am lost all my games against power schools, but I did manage to finish second in the Ivy and I am headed to the NIT with 17 wins in year 1.

I really like the idea of using a 07-08 roster. May have to download a roster myself and create a legacy with 'em!
